Amar’e ‘out a while’ with knee swelling

Amar’e Stoudemire will be “out a while” with knee swelling, Mike Woodson said.

Stoudemire will not play on Wednesday.

Update 3:01pm

Harris Decker

Obviously this is a huge blow to the already depleted Knicks. Over the last few weeks, Stoudemire has looked really good. He was moving well up and down the court and even showed flashes of explosiveness in the paint. Now it seems that the last few weeks have taken their tole. With him taking a seat and with no certainty of a Chandler return on Wednesday, they could enter the game with only Andrea Bargnani and Cole Aldrich to play center.

Woodson said he's gonna be out awhile ..........he just says its Swelling..........

..

...swelling takes no more than 3 days to subside ( I know i've had ACL surgury)

.... DENIAL is what Stat is feeling .

As long as Amare can give us a productive and efficient 6minutes per game, we are in the ECF. Book it.

Amar'e complained about mins. Now we see why his KNEES should be limited 10 minutes a game. Not that many of us didn't know. In a respect way, his knees are FINISHED.

So our PG rotation is now Beno and Murry, and our C rotation is now Bargnani and Aldrich (I'm not a fan of rushing Tyson back).  On top of which SGs JR and Shumpert are collectively averaging 16 pts on sub-40% shooting.

Will this be a "trap" game for the Milwaukee Bucks?

Shump, JR, Felton, Beno, MWP, Stat, Bargnani, Chris Smith, KMart...  Let's make a deal!  Come and get em.  And we'll throw in a coach at no additional cost.

Hurry - deal ends Feb 20, 2014

Don't miss out on this opportunity!

First 2 callers get a 2018 or 2020 pick for free! (while supplies last)

Please retire for the love of all that is holy and sane.

Knee Swelling = Debridement and 3 months rehab for 2 weeks of play leading into the playoffs which we will probably miss.

Med staff was going to keep Amare from playing in back to back - didn't happen. If I had to guess, it didn't happen because it didn't matter - Amare and the staff knew he would break down soon anyway - might as well use him when the team needs him most to try and get something going.

I would trade Amare + Shumpert for Gasol. Only because Shumpert wants out and Gasol is a FA.

This team is done, and Melo is gone - that headband last night will go down as an important moment. Only thing you can do is hope that Murray is 500 times better than anyone in the entire NBA thinks he is.

Time to hit reset, play young guys, let the men on the floor try different things to see what you've got for building blocks. But because its NY, and especially because there will be hope Melo stays, that won't happen.

If the team continues to suck and Melo stays, that will mean a chip is not important to him. If that is the case, then ask yourself - do you want that guy leading your team? Crappy situation.

Honestly it was a matter of time. Most of us called this happening. He's been done.

I guess it's me but it seems that Woodson is happy to present injuries to take the pressure off of him.

Looks like Cole and Toure will be getting burn by default.

Told the "Stat is back" crowd they were setting themselves up for disappointment.

Get well soon Amar'e.

What happened to the Knicks medical staff keeping Amar'e from playing in back to back games? Amar'e plays 5 games in 7 days and his knees swell. Now isn't that swell. Whodathunkit?

Don't make any trades, Don't fire the coach, let them win 37 games, finish with the 8th seed, lose in 5 to Indy, and then let the rebuilding begin.  This team is going nowhere with this coach, with this roster, you can't mortgage any of their future including the 1st pick in 2018 to go from 37 wins to the possibility of 40 to still lose in the 1st round..

I knew something was up when he came up limping after that rebound.  Not a surprise at all.  For all of the posters that wanted him run into the ground, you got your wish.

Was only a matter of time...his knees r ticking time bombs n I wish this dude would retire

This is exactly why all the talk of "Amare being back" was so premature.  Dude hasn't been able to play well AND stay healthy for a period of more than 2 weeks to a month at a time.  It's sad that Stat's career has come to this, but it is what it is.

Like I've said many times, relying on Stat is fool's gold at this point.  Just please let his contract expire and don't do anything stupid to desperately try and get rid of it.

The worst part about this is woodson kept mentioning this about amare and kept deciding to play him. What did he expect to happen? So sickening.

aaaannnnddd

this is why u trade him if it were ever a possibility... if u took the bait, for the 10th time that's on you..

Amare has never been worth the money. and the notion that he "started" the "movement " is the sadddest tkb myth since believing Eddie curry could get into shape..

Like cap space and a mediocre team would have set us back or something... fans have been trying to justify that uninsured contract for years now.

Can the rebuilding with young healthy players begin already?  I guess it is even too late for that with no draft picks.

Every Knick game is a "trap" game. It's a trap for any idiot who spends his hard earned money on tickets, merchandise, and anything else Knicks related.

@po_diddley Cole won't - he didn't when Chandler went down, or when Chandler and Martin were down. Now that Chandler is coming back, we'll just see Chandler and Bargnani at the 5. I hate this coach.

Because our stupid fans were forcing Woodson to do it. He should have stayed on the restriction.

Absolutely right about JVG! To knock MELO after the way he's been carrying us is downright ignorant! It's the coaches job to call timeout and run a good set to put his players in a position to succeed! Coach failed again! MELO was great last night!

@Jerry GeeCome on bro, I admit he should have called TO, as should Woodson and any of the other 4 guys on the floor. To say Melo is soft is ridiculous. Melo plays hard. He's not perfect by any stretch of the imagination but you gotta admit he needs some help. Who else would you have wanted to bring the ball up the court that was on the floor?
