The Carmelo Anthony free agent drama has plenty of fireworks on the July 4th. He has max offers from the Knicks and the Lakers with a decision possibly coming this holiday weekend (Isola, July 4).
Phil Jackson and Derek Fisher met with Anthony in Los Angeles on Thursday and offered Anthony a max deal of 5-years and $129 million. The Lakers offered a max contract of 4-years and $96 million. The Knicks remain confident that they can re-sign Anthony and want him to recruit former Lakers center Pau Gasol to the Knicks.
It was a wild Thursday for Anthony with Kobe Bryant trying to get back from Greece to help recruit him to the Lakers, with whom he met for two hours. That comes off of visiting the Bulls on Tuesday and then meeting with the Mavericks and the Rockets on Wednesday.
