Knicks assistant GM Allan Houston declined to discuss the Phil Jackson joining the Knicks front office, but admitted his “respect” for the Zen Master.

“Everyone has respect for one of the greatest coaches,” Houston said at a press conference in Westchester to introduce the team’s new D-League affiliate next season that will be based in White Plains. “I’ve played for wonderful coaches and I’ve learned a lot from all of them. I’ve played, worked with a lot of great people, personnel, coaches. I’m a sponge, so that anybody that I work with I’m going to learn from.”

Allan Houston has 'respect' for Jackson but that's all he's saying as KNICKS expect him in fold Jackson shortly

The sense you get from NBA people about Phil Jackson; hire him to coach your team, yes. Hire him to run your team...no.

Meanwhile, it was Jim Dolan who put the kibosh on the Kyle Lowry trade in December. Whether you did or didn't like the trade Dolan killed it

Heat media is formally protesting Carmelo's Player of the Week Award. Poor Adam Silver now has to deal with this nonsense.

The only player that has hustled non stop on this team the entire season, even though he's surrounded by mediocrity and a horribly losing environment.

He may not be the leader everyone wants him to be, but this shows a player that plays with a ton of heart.

oh i can see the mvp chants starting after another win or two, the patsy's will be in seventh heaven in no time and if phil takes this gig the ecf can only be a winning streak away.

you gotta love the patsy's they're not very smart but they do have a vivid imagination.

They call me Melo Yellow. Don't ever leave me.

Stick around like Paul Pierce did ... you'll eventualy get some elite shooters, defenders and coaching ... and it will all be worth it, especially winning in NYC.

Why keep Melo when you can have K Love 2 in the future????

smh

The talent around Melo has been Atrocious all season and that's putting it lightly. I can only imagine the season Melo would be having with the talent that teams like Sa, Indy, OkC, and so on has on their roster around their best player.

It would be an utter shame to lose Melo this off season and not see what he would do with Legit, High  IQ basketball talent around him, which Phil will absolutely be focusing in on.

@Biggie  I'm with you on this one Biggie. The haters are out in force! The sportscasters, the Dullah azz holes, etc. etc.

@VerySilentJay  whoever said that has serious issues

@Lee Lewin Well if Melo left in the offseason, it would be to play with legit, high IQ players so you could watch that. But I get your point, you want to see it in a Knicks uniform and I do too.

I say that in a capped league, Kevin Love at 17 mil > Carmelo Anthony at 24 mil.

@Sandro

Are you sure Minnesota didn't offer K-Love less? Cause from what I remember K-Love was upset about his contract soon after he signed it!

@solar_lion @Sandro@VerySilentJay@Biggie

Kevin Love signed for less money than he could, even with the ETO he has.

Carmelo Anthony did not sign for less money than he could, even with the ETO he has.

That's the context. Their contracts have the same structure, but Love took a paycut, Carmelo did not.

@VerySilentJay @Sandro@Biggie

Kiyan asked when did Love take a paycut. I answered him.

You're entitled to that opinion.

Mine is:
In a world where 25 yr old Kevin Love isn't worth 17 mil for not being able to carry a team, 30 yr old Carmelo Anthony isn't worth 24 mil for not being able to carry a team that is now 16 games under .500.

VerySilentJay
VerySilentJay

@Sandro @VerySilentJay @Biggie  So because he took a small paycut, he'll take one again? After the star treatment he's asked time and time again?

I just don't believe Love can carry a team. I don't believe he's worth the 17 mil.

Sandro

@VerySilentJay @Sandro@Biggie

You can bash Love for his flaws and I can bash Melo for his flaws. It would be endless and I don't have the patience right now.

Bottom line:

- Love has already taken a paycut, thing that Carmelo never did in a longer career.

- Love at 17 mil > Carmelo at 24 mil, in a capped league.

@Sandro @Biggie  Right, and if you've followed what happened after he signed that contract, you'd know that he started making demands to the Minny FO, started talking about FA and preferred destinations 2 whole seasons before becoming a FA, starting acting like a b¨tchy little primadonna, and threatened to leave if the team didn't start getting better and reaching the playoffs immediately.

On top of all that, he's shown to be quite injury prone and despite his great, albeit padded stats, he hasn't been able to carry a team with such players as Pekovic and Ricky Rubio.

Sandro
Sandro

@Biggie @Sandro

Meaning that he would leave money on the table, which he has done before: www.espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/7502324/kevin-love-minnesota-timberwolves-reach-four-year-deal-opt-out

Love signed a 4 year, 62 mil contract, when he could've signed a 80 mil, 5 year contract. So, Love has showed that he is okay taking a paycut.

When was the last time Carmelo Anthony took a paycut?

Sandro
Sandro

@Kiyan Carter

I am assuming that Fields_Fanatic knows his ish.

According to him, 17 mil is the max Kevin Love can get on his next contract.
