Courting the King: LeBron James looking to avoid the cold?

It’s hard not to focus on the 2014 NBA offseason, one in which both Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James will hit free agency.

Melo and LeBron will both reportedly be targeted by the Los Angeles Lakers, who will likely seek a new superstar to build around in the post-Kobe Bryant Era.

While Melo’s suitors are expected to be Los Angeles and the Knicks, LeBron will likely be coveted by every team in the NBA, including the aforementioned Knicks and the Cleveland Cavaliers, his hometown team that he abruptly departed from in a TV special.

One interesting piece to the puzzle may have been revealed, though. A South Florida Sun-Sentinel report suggests the cold weather in Cleveland may be a factor when LeBron has to choose his next team.

LeBron, who has become accustomed to the year-round warmth in South Beach, said one thing he doesn’t miss is the frigid cold.

“I miss the slower pace back home but have grown used to my new city’s little perks like fresh fish and sweet fruit,” LeBron told Women’s Wear Daily“(My next hometown) will definitely be someplace warm. I don’t want to go back to cold winters.”

Well, you can not only ax Cleveland from that category, but New York as well. And suddenly Miami looks to remain a favorite, and Los Angeles presumably surges to atop the list.
