Something you wont hear on SNY's scintillating analysis of the trade..

Knicks get a trade exception for Felton's 3.9 mil in salary.  They can use that slot to trade for any player making that amount.  That is a nice salary slot .. They cant SIGN a player with that but can use the 3.9 mil to acquire a player making up to almost 5 mil in salary (125% +100K)

Chandler and Felton were both locker room cancers last year.. It's addition by subtraction.

@bockers You gotta remember, these are the same who thought LBJ didn't have help even though is teammates were Wade, Bosh, and Allen while stating that KD had little help in Westbrook, Ibaka, and Reggie Jackson.

I don't know what consistitutes as "help" these days. But obviously Melo's never had anything remotely close to that.

@Sandro Guedes I like Fournier, but Afflalo is a MUCH better player. I dont get this deal, unless it is to use it for another trade.

@Kvdaone @BiggieTKB the whole conversation was forced and uninformed.  from Jonas Schwartz fumferring over the trade terms to Malusis trying to sound like he knows what he's talking about..

It's just visual bubble gum.. no nutrition just jaws moving.

thanksfully they cut off the conversation midstream.

@Sandro Guedes @therealprof Lowe says that the Nuggets absorbed him into the trade exception from Iggy and that Orlando didn't want to take back any salary. Still, they got fleeced hard.

@Sandro Guedes @therealprof The only thing I can think of is flexibiltiy and to position themselves to a larger trade.

With him off the books they'll have about 35+ mil to operate, which can help you land some pretty decent players.

If they decline Nelson's TO they'll have cap to offer 2 max contracts.

Don't know if anyone would wanna go there, but they'll definitely have the money.

@Sandro Guedes @VerySilentJay @therealprof  Why in the world would you have the opinion that they shopped him and took the worst offer?

Everyone knew he was available and offers were made.  I can see being surprised they prioritized the cash or that they didn't get a better offer but to assume a better offer was there and they just didn't take it?  really?

If they could get a first rounder for Afflalo why didn't they?

@Sandro Guedes @VerySilentJay @therealprof Some teams are just cheap I guess.

They already hace the #4 and #11 pick in the draft (a former NY pick), plus a ton of picks moving forward, and as of now they're the team with the most capspace out there.

I don't know if Afflalo is a top 10 SG.

Kobe, Harden, Klay, Wade, Beal, Ellis, DeRozan, Stephenson, Eric Gordon, Butler, Joe Johnson.

Afflalo's deinitely a top 15, and one of the better two way 2 gurads though, no doubt.
