Phil Jackson

ESPN ranks Knicks with 21st-best decision maker

ESPN Forecast asked their panel to rank the “basketball decision maker” in each organization. The duo of Phil Jackson and Steve Mills ranked No. 21 out of 30.

“We asked the voters to rate each team’s front-office management on its guidance and leadership in terms of how it affects overall on-court success, both in the short and long term,” the report said.

The Spurs ranked at the top of the list, while the crosstown Nets ranked No. 28.

Never to early for some dubious ranking of Phil Jackson's lengthy reign as President of The Knicks. LOL

Thanks Captain Obvious.  We did not know that

ESPN should just have given the Knicks an...N/A.

Jeezus man, Sandro, Xmen and Biggie - can you guys take your personal vendetta crap offline?

When you talk Knicks, I enjoy reading each of your posts.  But when there's just pages and pages of you said this, no I said that, you're depressed and negative, you're living in fantasy land, and I have to scroll through pages just to get to some decent Knicks talk, it's a drag.  Please, can you each just try taking the high road, and agree to disagree, after like the first 3 exchanges?  It's really boring.

Is Eric Snow an assistant under Larry Brown?? If that's him, boy did he get FAT. Wow.

Woodson is a really good guy n a stand up guy. BUT he is not gonna be the guy to lead us to a chip.

He has handled himself great thru this time n it will pay off for him with another job like maybe the pistons or a good college job like Indiana.

We need a coach who can compete with the vogels n spoelstras of world

@akamarb I only care if we are gonna win or not!  Walls can score 80 so as long as we win the game.

@kneggyknik  At least now there's no one Woodson can throw under the bus for his own shortcomings.

I've begun to scroll past those debates lol.

@johneco  yup, sometimes I just scrolling down if they start to call each other

If they debate in a smart way, I really enjoying their comment..

but usually the end is not good, blaming, calling name, insulting, etc...

@kneggyknik  WTF? How can anyone get us mixed up? That's some stupid azz shiit! Where's X when I need him?

@Biggie

I guess his ranking is buoyed by the fact that OKC has more then survived that poor decision - they remain legitimate championship contenders as the 2-seed in a very tough Western Conference.

My vote goes to the guy in Charlotte .

@jax13  What makes him a stand up guy?

@Sandro Guedes @akamarb  This season has been his best... People on this place never bought into him, I always said that kid would grow into one of the best PG's in the league, and this season's been clear proof of that.

This season his numbers have incresased accross the board, and he's always been a willing passer.

You bet your @ss he'll get those assists.

@akamarb The problem is we have to guard Wall AND Beal - nowhere to hide Felton.  I hope they have an off night...

@akamarb He started playing better once he got his knee feeling good again...that's no coincidence.

@Jimmy BX @johneco I was asking for elevated Knicks talk, you respond with name calling and conspiracy theories.  I don't "gotta understand what SanDope is", I'm perfectly content to assume he's a regular person, and if he's not who cares.  I really doubt anyone is paying him to get into off topic arguments.

@SheSaidSpikeWho @akamarb  Too bad Mark Jackson doesn't get more credit for what he's been doing in GS. He turned a culture of hot garbage into a winning product....and now he's in trouble because a group of idiots think that GS can compete all the way to the WCF and expectations are a lot higher than they should be.

Given how injury prone Bogut is, the games Lee has lost, and how much he's had to shuffle his lineups and rotations, that Jackson has done, once again a terrific job.

Of course, I mention Thibs. because I find it amazing that he can get results with what he's been handed. Unreal.

@SheSaidSpikeWho @akamarb

He is reaching "Jordan" status where the voters know he's actually the best in the biz, but want to give awards to others to prevent a recycled award ceremony every year.

The way he has handled himself throughout this season, the knicks chasing Phil, the front office not talking and leaving him out there to face media.

I do not think he is a good coach but I do think he is a good guy.

He has been the same thru out this awful season but he has handled himself well

@thatsagoodpoint LOL What is there to like prior to Phil?  It's not like it's a huge secret that we have been dismal in this arena for years.

That's why we have Phil here to try to change our dynasty and bring some real hope.

As a Yankees fan I'm not sold on Robertson but last night was a good start. I wish we Joba would have came 3 years later so we could have molded him to be the next Mo.

@thatsagoodpoint

Yeah your Stankees with a big ol 1 win thing they are better than my Mets because we don't have any yet!

You're gonna miss Rivera more that you ever know!

Anyway I can't get into the Mets until our Knicks go home for the season!  Can't handle too many calamities going on at the same time.

johneco

@thatsagoodpoint Wall and Beal are a very different challenge, as they bring blazing speed.  It's the worst kind of matchup for us, our Achilles heel.  Curry and Thompson are not physically overwhelming in that way.

@Biggie

"Shame on Bennett"

Well, I can agree with that sentiment...it's a shame for the fans (and even NBA fans in general) of teams with owners that refuse to dip into their deep pockets for a shot at perennial championship contention (OKC, Indy, Chicago etc.)

BigChiefTriangle

@Sandro Guedes @BigChiefTriangle @Biggie

And he says "two-seed" like that's a bad thing...weren't the Thunder the 2-seed the year their young core made it to the Finals?

@Sandro Guedes @VerySilentJay @Biggie  Yeah.....I'm not there with you.

Yes, he's cheaper and younger. But he'll command the same money Melo's getting when he reaches that very same age and I don't know in which aspects, aside from age, he has an edge.

Melo shoots more efficiently even though he takes more shots per game. Melo rebounds like a 4.

In terms of defensive energy, like Melo, it's quite sporadic, but imo, when Melo decides to defend, he can keep up with 2's, 3's, and 4's of this league.

He's older and comes at a greater cost, but I'll take him over Harden in the blink of an eye.

chudogz1
chudogz1

@Biggie... Sounds great, but it came down to they could only afford Ibaka or Harden... They also got Martin in the deal...

@SheSaidSpikeWho @BigChiefTriangle @akamarb

Sure thing.  Personally, I'm not against giving Pop that award every year (or giving Lebron that MVP).  What an incredible teacher of the game...I'm always amazed at how disciplined and fundamentally sound the Spurs look in those games where Pop rests his big-3....it's incredible.

Start blaming everyone else n everything.

You think he did not handle himself well?

knickgirl35
knickgirl35

@jax13  What would a guy who was not handling this season well do?

What choice did he have? Could he curse out the reporters? Say I'm no longer talking to the press?

He would be risking getting another NBA job if he did that. Anybody can play phony and hide their true feelings when money is involved. Folks are so easily fooled. Just because he plays the "ah shucks" "yes massa" role he's a "good" guy.
