Felton: Nets ‘will never take over this city’

When Newsday asked Raymond Felton about Paul Pierce’s stance on the Knicks-Nets rivalry, he laughed.

“It’s all fun and games to me,” Felton said on Sunday, at St. John’s Univesity while conducting a basketball clinic for Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City. “I think it’s good for us, it’s good for the whole state, it’s good. So, whatever — I love it.”

Pierce has said through multiple media channels that he thinks the Nets will take over the city. Felton questioned the literal legitimacy of that claim.

“It’s hard for you to take over the city when we’ve got ‘New York’ on our chest and you’ve got ‘Brooklyn’ on yours,” Felton said. “It’s been this way since long before he started playing.”
