Final Score: Hawks 107 – Knicks 98

The Knicks fell to the Hawks by a score of 107-98 on Saturday night.

The Least You Should Know…

New York led 73-68 after three quarters, but allowed 39 points to Atlanta in the fourth.

Carmelo Anthony led the way for the Knicks, scoring 35. Raymond Felton added 16 and J.R. Smith had 11. Tyson Chandler added 10 points and picked up 23 rebounds.

Atlanta got 30 points from Mike Scott off the bench, who was six of seven from beyond the arc. They also added 28 from Jeff Teague, who was the source of Knicks-Hawks trade rumors all week, and 24 from DeMarre Carroll.

The Knicks have lost eight of their last 10 games.

Thank goodness I was out partying with friends and family having a great time.

Didn't know there was a Knicks game, nor did I care. Results are them same as always.

Stick a fork in it already. This team is done. Period.

Woodson has made made mistakes, but if firing him solves the problems you are all clueless. I have many issues with Woody, but let's not, forget we won 54 games last year. People blame him for the poor play from Shumpert but yet forget he played fine under Woody for 2-years.

As much as Woody is to blame the players are more. Felton, JR, Shump all lousy. Tyson has been average.

Just two weeks ago, Metta and Beno told the media they were not asking to be traded. Lol, and here we are. Everything said publicly is exactly the opposite.

is anyone at the helm of this blog? it's 10:50am after one of the worst losses of the season, two players are being bought out, and all that exists on this blog are a 5 line generic recap and one quote from melo . . .

Blow the team up.

Bring in a GM that is a basketball guy not an accountant.

You have the money from all the corporations, dentists stock brokers and Nassau county lawyers season tickets so the Garden won't be empty.

What's miserable is that we have to wait for contracts to die off again. Didn't we go through this a few years ago? We waited to get our "big 3"

The max contract guy with bad knees, back and eye that couldn't get a contract from any other team.

The role playing rebounder who can't score unless it's a lob.

Carmelo.

In 2 or 3 years when we actually have money, let's hope someone with a brain puts this team together with sense, not haste.

My theory is at this point I beleive that Woody is just fooling us all (and has been all season), and using these ridiculous scheme's to get fired and collect whatever severance package he has.

Dolan doesn't want t give such package (or hasn't watched a single game and is off vacationing somewhere), therefore he won't fire him.

All of our player's want woodson gone, so they aren't playing with any sort of energy or passion, and just let people score.

Or maybe we just suck (excluding melo). Still time to make the playoff's, if we decide to show any sort of heart. Who's going to replace metta and beno?

I will maintain that the talent on this year's team exceeds last year's squad. However, when things go wrong and there is no leadership on the team (looking at you, Tyson and Melo), they just COMPLETELY FELL APART.

The obvious answer is the coach.

Your team is in big time trouble when Melo is not just your best offensive player, but best defender.

Dbag Dolan is like Steinbrenner, minus the winning.

In case you were wondering, help is not on the way. Knicks D League Erie Bayhawks are having a season parallel to the pro team. They were crushed last night by the Delaware 87ers, who are last in the D league east. The Bayhawks are 2nd to last. CJ Leslie can score but no defense in sight.

I love how so many clowns are so quick to defend how great a season Melo is having with the usual "he scoring so many points". As usual, Melo nuthuggers fail to ask the question of how it's even possible to be such losers WITH Melo scoring so many points. somehow, a team with Durant or Lebron scoring 30pts. on a nightly basis, isn't losing. Melo keeps getting his pass though...

It makes you wonder whether Woodson and the coaching staff actually want to win games... Just look at the +/- stats and you will find the culprits:

JR Smith: -20

STAT: -11

Prigioni was -12, but I assume this because he played the majority of his minutes with these two on the floor. Why either of these two gets any minutes is beyond the scope of reason.

I really don't understand how Mike Woodson is still coach. Plain and simple Mike Woodson just is not a good coach period, He does not know how to utilize his players I watch him night after night loss after loss standing on the sideline with the same stupid dumbfounded look on his face.

Woodson does not know how to make adjustments, and for some unexplained reason keeps using JR smith. The half court isolation offense is a joke the switching defense is even a bigger joke. He just does not have the pulse of the team !!!!.

Mike Woodson might just be in the top 10 worst coaches of all time , he just does not seem have a clue. The Knicks won 54 games last year despite Woodson. This team is just horrible to watch. I am just so disgusted with this team!!!!

Sorry for the rant  but all I want is the Knicks To #FIREWOODSON !!!!!!!!

I hope none of the deluded fools come on and say that's there's still time and we will make a playoff run. We are absolutely abjectly bad!

To be up by 17 points with 18 minutes to go and be firmly in control to go and somehow find a way to lose by 9??? How???

FFS I am so sick of staying up late (5 hours ahead of ECT here) to watch this team crumble and for Woodson to be unable or unwilling to do anything about it.

It says something when our star player is the one who hustles most night in night out. Shouldn't his team mates be trying to lighten the load?

Melos face when he was sat on the bench as the hawks made a run was a picture....it was almost a mirror image of mine and I'm sure I could read his lips muttering "WTF???"

That's what it's come down to...WTF???

I love Melo and I love him as a knick but no one could blame him if he left the Knicks this summer.

It pains me to say but we are further away than ever from winning a championship.

Please Lord let Adam Silver try again where Stern left off and try and force Dolan into doing something....backing off and appointing a real Basketball guy...or, and here's an idea, SELL THE TEAM YOU ABSOLUTE BALL BAG!...I know I know Itl never happen but a guy can dream right?

Sorry for the rant but I have no faith in Dolan, the front office, this team - basically the whole Knicks organization to do anything other than rack up the $$$.

Peace.

I've officially lost interest. Well after this post. This team doesn't deserve any more of my time. I dislike this team. I hate the coach, I dislike the way they play. I can't think of any reason to keep watching. I didn't care when the game was over. That's a sign that I am now rubber necking at this train wreck. Hopefully in a few years, they'll put a decent team together and I'll get back into it. This sorry team couldn't even keep it interesting until baseball season. i

I have to give kudos to the Celtics and Danny Ainge. They are planning to rebuild through a boatload of draft picks. I wish the Knicks would have that mentality. I know, I know just keep wishing....

Jim Dolan knows how to stick it to the fans. All that losing and the Knicks don't even have a first round pick! -"Take that Knick fans" - Jim Dolan.

As a long time Knicks fan, It's very sad to see this display of basketball. Wow, how I miss the '90s. even with MJ being a thorn in our side. What ever happen to the once proud organization? I thought we had seen the light at the end of the I. Thomas tunnel! Hard to digest....

The problem has always been Jim Dolan and will continue to be until Jim Dolan sell the team or the fans stop buying his product. Until then the Knicks will continue to be perennial losers. In Addition, eventually the NBA will start to lose exposure and money as the Knicks become bottom dwellers in one of the most important sports markets in the US. My humble opinion.

The sheer amount of terribleness in this franchise is staggering.

Fire a perfectly fine GM who did nothing wrong for a Steve Mills

Possess one of the worst NBA records despite a rather talented roster w/ a superstar

Not only possess that record, but do not own a draft pick in that draft.

This franchise is back in the doldrums after being free for 1 season plus two mediocre ones. I don't think the Knicks will be good again for a looonnnnnngggg time.

If we get to 30 wins that would be an accomplishment.

It's humiliating enough to be in the lottery and not make the playoffs.

But to end up with say the third worst record in the whole league? (and that is clearly more likely than us making the playoffs, btw.)

Yikes.

Where's all the "un-jaded" Knicks fans that said the Knicks will make the playoffs, and the ones that said 3rd place in the East? Keep dreaming and watch Denver take the point guard that we could use, in the draft with our pick.....

We have no scheme this year. No strategy...last year we got out on the break and knocked in threes. Ran screen and roll, or went to Melo for ISO.

Now it's Melo ISO - points, Hardaway for three - cash sometimes, JR ISO - miss, STAT ISO - blocked, Felton, P&R - air lobs to nobody. Offense is predictable and terrible.

Our season collapsed as soon as Kidd went to Brooklyn and we had no replacement.

@darealeric  You Sandro under a different handle? Not only is he scoring, he is also rebounding and passing, defending logging the most minutes in the league and facing double teams and triangle defenses every night. They have a great book out, called Basketball watching for Dummies, read it

Brostoevsky
Brostoevsky

@darealeric Melo is the least of the Knicks' problems. There is not one player in this league that makes this team close to contention if he switches place with Melo. Melo is the only player on this team that makes the Knicks remotely competitive...

I'm sick of the tired "blame the best player". Same isht during the Ewing years.

James Cureton
James Cureton

Those players have better supporting casts by far. Melo doesn't even have a bonafide second scorer on this team.

Last season he had a group of shooters - any of which could get hot and bomb threes. We could out score anyone, but couldn't stop anybody.

This year, we're making several less threes and still giving up over 100 points a night. Get worse offensively and no change defensively = losing.

BigChiefTriangle

@maxjet  They have Rondo, a star player, and something like 9 draft picks in the next 5 years, so they will be able to trade for a star player using 1-2 of those 1st-rounders with their contracts.

Lee Lewin
Lee Lewin

@maxjet  right becaue he knew 3 years ago that this years pick would be like this when they traded for melo who has never missed the playoffs in his life. Stop freaking whining about the pick. It was never suppose to be a lottery pick. This isn't Dolan's fault. Almost the same cast of players won 54 games last year and now they are going ot miss the plyaoffs in the east where 37 wins will most likely get you in. But Dolan's fault about the pick.
