The Knicks (30-42) defeated the Kings (24-45) by a score of 107-99 Wednesday evening at Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento.
After leading by as many as 24, the Knicks had just a two-point lead in the final minutes of the game, as the Kings outshot New York 27-21 in the fourth quarter.
J.R. Smith tied a franchise record for 3-pointers after he scored his ninth during the fourth quarter. Smith had a total of 29 points during the game — the second most on the team.
Carmelo Anthony led the team with 36 points, which is the most he has scored in a single game this month.
One day after the Knicks shot 26.7 percent from the 3-point line, the team hit 58 percent of its attempts against Sacramento.
With the win, the Knicks are now just two games out of eighth place and the final playoff spot.
