The Knicks beat the Wizards by the score of 98-89.
The Least You Should Know
Iman Shumpert suffered a strained right elbow late in the first quarter. Pablo Prigioni suffered a strained left elbow in the middle of the 3rd quarter.
Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 14 points in 33 minutes off the bench. Toure Murry also scored 14 points in 25 minutes off the bench.
The Knicks shot 11 for 25 from 3-point range, a big turnaround from their 3 for 16 performance against the Celtics on Saturday.
Amit BadlaniThe main story after this game is going to be Iman Shumpert. His arm got caught up with Bradley Beal’s as he went up for a shot. Hopefully, this is a day-to-day injury instead of a week-to-week. Pablo Prigioni’s injury, at least visually, did not look nearly as serious.
Good for Melo. He was finally able to play an NBA in front of his hometown crowd. It’s safe to say it was a very special moment for him.
Tim Hardaway Jr. showed what he could do in his minutes. I don’t think anybody expects him to get 35 minutes in a regular season game, but considering J.R. Smith will be out for the first couple of weeks, it’s good to know that they have a decent scoring option of the bench that will improve throughout the season.
Lastly, it was good to see the Knicks turnaround the poor performance against the Celtics, especially from three. They need to get into a rhythm from downtown going into the season.
