Final Score: Pacers 117 – Knicks 89

The Pacers blew out the Knicks by a score of 117-89.

New York outscored Indiana 31-30 in the first quarter, and it was all downhill from there. The Pacers tacked on 33, 24 and 30 in the next three quarters, while the Knicks only cracking 20 points once in that span.

Carmelo Anthony led the Knicks, knocking down 28 points to go with his seven rebounds.

The Knicks lost Kenyon Martin early, and Amar’e Stoudemire late, both to sprained left ankles.

The Knicks got double-digit points from Tyson Chandler, Raymond Felton and J.R. Smith, but most came when the game was already out of reach.

The Pacers were led by Lance Stephenson and Paul George, who dropped 28 and 25 on the Knicks, respectively.

Andrew Vazzano, SNY.tv

That was uuuuuuugly.

Cole Aldrich got over five minutes of play, which should tell you all you need to know about this game.

Brutal.

Next game: The Knicks return home to take on the Clippers Friday night.

Man Tyson don't do Jack against the pacers man we need to trade him for something because he was out there but it felt like he wasn't

Walsh sitting there with a smug smile when he failed to draft stephenson.  Grunewald letting Copeland go

when he is a very good player.   What a mess.   But the biggest mess is the coach who is a total loser.   Maybe he will be forced to play some of the younger players so we can start thinking about next year.

Knicks are just a soft, low basketball IQ team. They do not defend.They do not move the ball and get easy baskets. They just seem to play so inefficiently. They need to bring in tougher, headier players who know how to play the game.

Regardless of individual performances or awful coaching (which we should be waaaaay used to by now), yesterday was once again, if it wasn't enough with Charlotte, a huge "WAKE UP, YOU SUCK DONKEY D¨CK" call. Of course, Woodson is the main accomplice of this phenomena.

I said it way before the game yesterday, "please make it respectable". They weren't even able to do that. I isolated myself yesterdat. It was one pathetic outing, which makes me think, as I was earlier on this season, that this team is nothing more than a steaming pile of hot s¨ht with absolutely no chances of doing anything of relevance.

Christ. All it'd take was a little will power. But nooooo. That's too much for Woodson's Knicks. What a pathetic group of individuals. All led by an even more pathetiic human being. I have absolutely no sympthathy for this man, and, quite honestly, just like I did with Prngles, I curse the man.  Damn the day Kidd, Sheed, and KT left this team. It has exposed Potato head's endless flaws in the most intense of ways.

We're ckuffed. We are so ver ckuffing ckuffed.

Very rarely do I attach so much hate to a person.

Woodson is awful. This team has no heart or will.

We'll be lucky to get to the playoffs. And that's real talk.

Well that game sucked. LOL

Hopefully, they can comeback on this mega-stretch at home.

I really hope with the injuries and tough loss to The Pacers, doesn't turn it into a mega-losing streak.

The Garden would eat this team alive and fire-pit Woodson with an apple in his mouth at half-court.

Knicks need another Star player and some 3 point shooters, Shump needs to start attacking more and stop hesitating. Woodson has to go and Tyson isn't the same player anymore

Very disappointed in this team's effort tonight.  This is about, I don't know what, 50% of our games where we just don't bother showing up?  Seriously, how many games on this season has this team just been blown out like this?

Felton and Chandler just playing like trash.  Need to be willing to bench both of them then.

And I was a big fan of those Toure-Timmy-Shump lineups that we played with without Ray and JR.  You could see a different energy with that lineup, guys who play well together and as a team and can get out on the break and disrupt defenses and cause turnovers.

we suck...we arent going anywhere in the postseason this year...

lets focus on keeping Melo

getting a better coach

upgrading our PG

madskills

Ok, it's the summer of 2015 and Melo is still on the team via extension. We have a ton of cap space. Assuming all of these coveted free agents want to come to NY, who would you sign to play along side Melo?

ponzies86
ponzies86

26-68 on offense without Melo tonight SMH just pathetic, This team needs serious up grade from the PG position to the coaching staff. I just dont see any team as a serious contender with players like Bargnani, JR Smith and Felton on the roster. Melo needs help on offense big time.

lobcity

This team is a mess.

Knicks_Fanatic

The point isn't the lack of offense. The Pacers allow 88.1 ppg and we got 89. That's to be expected. The problem isn't rebounding as we won the battle of the boards, 46-43.

The problem is that the Pacers score 97.9 ppg and we gave up 117. It's not about Melo getting help on offense. It's about playing defense. The Pacers feasted on layups and open shots all night long.

rkj473
rkj473

@Nick White Hard for Shump to score when he doesn't get consistent shots and therefore cannot get into a rhythm out there. I understand the frustration as I too am frustrated because I know he can be a guy who scores the ball.

Shump's shot decline coincides with Felton coming back, reducing the number of shots Shump gets. Felton shoots the ball as much as anyone else not named Melo.

VerySilentJay

@buddhabing This has been the tone of this team. Ever since last season.

The only difference is that last season we had players that suited the "coach's" style (though if you ask me, Kidd, Sheed, and KT were the real coaches who kept the team mature and stable and helped the team get the record they did).

The Knicks never have been a "grind, skin of my teeth" type of team under the "coach". They haven't been this way since the 90's.

The "coach" turned them into a finesse jump shooting team with no heart or hustle and no passion for the game.

Worst of all, we're stuck with this guy forever. Like I said below, we should thank our lucky stars if we somehow manage to make the playoffs.

buddhabing

@C0P0 And it still wouldn't matter to Dolan who like Nero just fiddles around with his lame band while the Knicks go down in flames.

Sandra, save your f'ing lectures. You aren't a Knicks fan, you've never been a Knicks fan. You are an internet troll. You go onto a website and try to antagonize people. You also don't know ish about the NBA. Biggie may be wrong about this team, but at least he's actually a Knicks fan. That's why he comes on TKB. Why do you waste time here?

@BiggieSmalls

Do you think that with Toronto on a tear and leading the Atlantic after the trade, they might either want to keep Lowry or raise the price? They have the third best record in the East and will likely be unable to tank for a top pick.

Tikki

@BiggieSmalls

What would you consider "overpaying" for Lowry?

@madskills

The 2015 FA Situation/Fantasy

Carmelo Anthony:  $24M (assuming re-signed to the max)

Tim Hardaway Jr.: $1M

Iman Shumpert: $4M (unless his rights are renounced)

Raymond Felton: $4M (assuming he picks up his option)

JR Smith: $6M (assuming he picks up his option)

Pablo Prigioni: $2M (but this final year is unguaranteed)

2015 Draft Pick: $2M

Cap holds for 6 empty roster spots: $4M

Likely Total: $40M-$45M

Cap: ~$60M

*Anyone please correct any inconsistencies.

Knicks_Fanatic

@madskills

We won't have a ton of cap space. Maybe enough to offer one max, but I don't see that happening.

rgm891

I cant see how much longer this poor play and excuse after excuse plays out. We are a month away from the deadline. Dolan has to blow up this team and send woodson with them. I dont care if jerry gee is the coach. I guarantee u he would run plays and make adjustments.

Get rondo already

ponzies86

@Knicks_Fanatic  If you believe in your right mind Melo deosnt need help on offense then you need to check in with your doctor, I agree with you on that the defense needs to step up and Tyson isn't the answer anymore

rkj473
rkj473

@Jerry Gee Lol to be fair, Woodson has always been a fan of "you don't loose your job because you were injured." Clearly he gives no regards for how successful the team might be going at that point , like the recent 5 game winning streak.

zebeto
zebeto

@Sandro Guedes@zebeto...a year or so ago , i even thought of WADE being shump ultimate ceiling ...........now im leaning more towards LANCE (similar bodytype,athleticism) ......which isnt all that bad . ...shump just needs to play with more confidence, better his jump shot ,and attack the rim more .

Knicks_Fanatic
Knicks_Fanatic

@Tikki

$24.5M Melo

$6.4M JR

$3.95M Felton

$3.7M Shumpert

$1.3M Hardaway

$1M approx 2015 draft pick

290K Prigioni (guaranteed, can be cut)

$3M 6 cap holds

That's 44.15 million, leaving enough space for 1 max free agent. However, the Knicks will probably look to trade expirings next year to add a star. That way they could still make offers to Chandler, STAT, Bargnani, etc.... when they expire.

The Knicks will try to stay over the cap, rather than strip down and rebuild.

madskills

@Knicks_Fanatic @madskills You don't see what happening? Us having enough cap space to sign a max player? More then half of the team will be off the books in the summer of 2015.

Krispy kreme jr and bargnani will get us over the edge for sure. With dan d'antoni as head coach

@ponzies86@Knicks_Fanatic

Of course, Melo needs help, but we will never win a game against a strong defensive team, like Indiana, if we need to put up 118.

Last year we had the third ranked offense in the NBA with pretty much the same help for Melo.

Winston Hadaway

@MeloStat301 @Sandro Guedes@zebeto,I definitely could feel the Knicks are about to make moves they really need to stop the bleeding!!!

MeloStat301

@Sandro Guedes@zebeto Lance only has 1 more year up on Shump I believe.  Lance been in it 4 shump been in it 3...I think the ACL set shump back a ways, but he still has time to develop his game.  3rd year a lot of players take a jump in their game, or remain the same, shump hasn't really taken a jump at all.

zebeto
zebeto

@Sandro Guedes@zebeto..agree about wade.................but maybe the 3rd or 4th Best player on a Squad (like Lance) is def plausable for shump .

You can't teach me one thing about the NBA. Plenty of people can, but I've read enough of your moronic opinions on players and dopey trade ideas to know you are clueless. You know the Knicks suck this year, congratulations.

@Sandro Guedes That was the dumbest thing I have ever read. You are awarded no points and may god have mercy on your soul

D.Salahudin

@BiggieSmalls If we can keep Shump, I'd trade Felton,  Metta, Jr and a 1st for Lowry and Landry. Landry might suck but his contract ends in 2015 and give us more cap.

Knicks_Fanatic
Knicks_Fanatic

@Jerry Gee@madskills

It's not that simple. Melo will become the highest paid player in the game after Kobe retires, if he gets the max extension. That's something.

ponzies86
ponzies86

@Knicks_Fanatic @ponzies86   actually the players spaced out the floor better with Novak, Copeland and Kidd leading the way. Knicks need an elite PG and shooters than can actually shoot
