Final Score: Raptors 115, Knicks 100

The Knicks lost to the Raptors tonight by a score of 115-100.

The Least You Should Know

The Knicks were a complete disaster in this game. In the 2nd quarter, the Raptors pulled away, opening up a 15-point lead by the 3rd.

Amare Stoudemire led the Knicks in scoring with 23.

The Raptors shot 47% from behind the arc, with Terrence Ross hitting 7 of them. Defending the perimeter was a key weakness in the loss.

J.R. Smith had another ineffective game, scoring 13 points on 5 for 15 from the field. He did convert on 3 of his 7 3-point attempts.

Harris Decker

Toure MurryThis was another ugly, ugly game for the Knicks. They got completely outplayed in almost every aspect of the game and were once again completely unable to cover the guards for the Raptors. DeMar DeRozan and Terrence Ross had 20+ and Kyle Lowry led the way for the Raptors with 32 including 4 for 7 from behind the arc.

If you had to find a bright spot in tonights game it might have been Toure’ Murry who came into the game early after Beno Udrih got into foul trouble. He finished the game with 11 points on 5 for 11 and added 6 assists. He brought a level of speed and fire to an offense that’s been stagnant the entire season. It will be interesting to see if his minutes continue to increase. He played 27 minutes, 6 more than Udrih.

Iman Shumpert got beat up badly in this game. He was burned time after time off the dribble and on sharp cuts by all three Raptors guards. He was only able to score 6 points in 29 minutes. He has to be more effective if he is to continue to see those type of minutes.

Without Carmelo Anthony, this team that is a relatively bad is even worse. Hopefully he can return sometime next week and the team can try to put things together.

The Knicks will have a long time to get things together. They don’t play again until Thursday when they take on the Spurs in San Antonio at 8:30pm.

After the game, Woodson gave a telling quote to reporters in Toronto.

"At this stage right now, I'm about guys that are gonna play hard," the coach said.

He didn't mention any names, but it's fair to wonder if he was calling out Bargnani and Udrih for a lack of effort. Both sat on the bench in the fourth quarter. Bargnani played just four minutes in the second half and had just three rebounds in 18 minutes.

Why not start a lineup of Chandler/Aldrich-Tyler/Melo/Shump/Murry then??

just play the guys who give effort win or lose. Usually rubs off on the veteran players. Team is lost.No way toronto beats this team 2 straight last year. I know we

have injuries, but this team looks as though they given up. Thats y signing tyler and the emergence of THJ and MURRY we may see a change in the attitude of this team.

My Jets had 7 wins instead of the 8 wins I predicted when the season starts.   Based on how my family bashes me, that's clearly in the really suck category.

If only some would be as close with their predictions about our Knicks! Ummmmmmm!

Comments about not covering the corner jump shots. We were in a 3 2 zone for much of the game to conceal the fact that Woody does not know how to teach pick and roll def. In a 3 2, the baseline bigs must cover the corner with the other big sliding over to the nearside blocks. This leaves the weakside wing to come down to cover the weakside blocks, which means that one of our guards will have to rebound the ball on misses over 75% of the time. The corner 3 was open because Bargs is too slow to get to the corner to defend. When we played man, Shump was guarding the man in the corner, and he constantly sagged in to rebound instead of staying with his man in the corner. Thus we get killed by the easiest 3 to shoot. This shows a total lack of coaching IMO. And AH owner Dolan, who owns the team and GM Mills can`t see this? I am a HS coach and can see it clearly, and these guys that are running the show can`t. Note I didn`t mention the coach, for I feel he is a fraud, and is being exposed every night. From watching the way they defend I doubt he spends anytime at all teaching def. (Note setting up schemes  is not teaching def). The result of this is the worst team in basketball

This team and organization are among the worst 2 in basketball. We are in a major market and compare with the Jazz and the Bucks, two small market teams with no money to speak of. We have a stupid hands on owner, we have the worst GM in the league, we have the dumbest coach in the league, and the most dysfunctional team in the league as a result of that. Yet I turn on the home game against Toronto and there is a packed house. Why change? As long as the money comes in everything is good and nothing will change. Dolan is filling the house, his marketing gurus are feeding the staff their prepared lines to everyone to take focus away from the travesty that is going on right in front of our eyes.

This blog has gone down the toilet just like the knicks.

Speaking of being 3rd, we are only now behind Milwaukee and Utah for the worst record in the NBA.

Green

Danny Green had a perfect night on Thursday, hitting all seven of his field goal attempts (including five 3-pointers) and all three of his free throws. He's the fourth player since the 3-point line was introduced in 1979 to go perfect from all three areas while attempting that many shots.

@OLD_KNICK

That is the most awesome article I've read about the Knicks this year.

Looking forward for his Tuesday continuation, thanks!

@OLD_KNICK If they trade Melo it will just add to a long list of egregious errors.

@MeloStat301 Why is the dope saying "At this stage...." ? Why did it take so long for shizz to sink in with him. He's definitely mentally slow.

@MeloStat301Well, Woody sure didn't mention playing smart.   It just playing hard was Woody's desire than he surely plays STATues and he never plays hard or smart on defense.

@tommy2b Good for Shump. Woody has degraded and embarrassed him one time too many.

@tommy2b

This team has been lost for some time.  There has been numerous bickering on the team and players just doing there own thing out there.  Add to that the quotes that come out from the players.  Yet, Dolan says no moves with coach and players.

@tommy2bLOL I watch about 3 hours of this all of the the time. It's called the Knicks game.

I swear, Woody is pulling a total Isiah.  Remember when Isiah had to finally coached the bunch he brought here as GM?  Isiah would say the darnest thing that made absolutely no sense to what was occurring on the floor during games.

@OLD_KNICK roflmao James white!  NYpost trolling Chris Smith and the Knicks.  "sorry, we don't even know what he looks like"

@Chrisu r so right. no matter who's on the floor defending the same problem occurs. That open 3 is always there for opposing teams and every coach exposes it.

Sometimes I think Woodson has excuses written down on that clipboard that he's memorizing to use on bamboozled owner Dolan instead of diagrams that can actually help the team.

@Knicks_Fanatic Note that is never mentioned in interview. I feel that the FO gives Woody his lines, and he repeats them on the air. He is the perfect shill for these idiots, does anything they tell him to say or do. Fact, we have become one of the three worst teams in basketball, forget all this win the Division crap, we are terrible, and nothing will change till they stop making money with this crap team

"Raptors general manager Masai Ujiri sat in the press room at Air Canada Centre minutes before tipoff Saturday night, dining on pasta and pizza.

Ujiri may as well have been dining on the Knicks’ carcass."

Very painfully true.

Too bad we will never know why Grunwald was fired. My theory is that he finally said No to Dolan. Seems like the only way to lose a job at MSG.

Good post on there.  But I'm just scared Melo will take less money and walk for nothing after going through this nightmare season.

He was just taking a shot at Bargnani and Udrih.  He keeps throwing everyone under the bus to try and save his own hide.

@BiggieSmalls@xmenreturnLMAO! Everyone in the world knows that's not true.  I always make fun that my Jets are going to make a comeback but I had them at 8 wins best because (I'm not delusional like you.

Rex ain't the problem.  We have no skilled players on offense and we need that to see if Smith is a keeper.

@BiggieSmalls Your kidding right? The only joke around here is the Knicks play, and you with your total lack of knowledge trying to defend them

solar_lion

@BiggieSmalls@Kojo Brown The team is terrible. No effort. No clue on offense or defense. A clueless coach. A clueless owner. There's no defending the Knicks at this point. Those of us who continue to follow the team do so in misery. We all hope for a turn around or a genuine rebuild away from the Free agency model that only benefited a select few teams in a now by gone era. Thanks new CBA.
