Final Score: Raptors 95, Knicks 83

The Knicks (9-20) dropped to the Atlantic Division leading Raptors (12-15) 95-83.

The Least You Should Know

The Knicks came into the 4th quarter up by 5, but the Raptors outscored the Knicks 29-12 the final frame.

Andrea Bargnani scored 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds against his former team.

Beno Udrih had 15 points and 10 assists for his first double-double as a Knick.

Tim Hardaway Jr. had 15 points off the bench, 12 coming from downtown.

Five Raptors scored in double firgures, lead by DeMar DeRozan with 25 points.

If you didn’t watch this game, good for you. The Knicks played average through the first 3 quarters and let it slip in the 4th.

Let me isolate the first 3 quarters first before I get to the disaster that was the last 12 minutes. In the first 3 frames, the Knicks were 10 for 15 from downtown, but were only up by 5 at the end of it. Why was that? The team was 15-for-45 from inside the arch, a rate that would continue through the end of the game.

Sure, not having Melo take his usual mid-range shots was a factor, but that just further proves that the team has no offensive identity without Anthony. Somebody else has to step up. It looked like Andrea Bargnani was, but he faded like he usually does. He scored only 4 points in the second half after having 14 in the first.

As for the fourth quarter, rather than aggressively going to the rim, the Knicks were complacent with taking and missing mid-range jumpers. They only took two free throws and went 5-for-19 from the field.

I sarcastically applaud the team for their performance after a reported vote of confidence from the owner. Bravo.

Point guard (PG), also called the one, play maker or "the ball-handler," is one of the standard positions in a regulation basketball game and is commonly abbreviated "PG." A point guard has perhaps the most specialized role of any position – essentially, they are expected to run the team's offense by controlling the ball and making sure that it gets to the right players at the right time. Above all, the point guard must totally understand and accept his coach's game plan; in this way, the position can be compared to a quarterback in American football

Resigning JR was a mistake and that was Woodson all over that signing!

Shouldve let him walk, sign Cope and kept Novak

30 years ago, the Knicks ventured to Texas and this happened.

Bernard King’s other great performances would come on back to back nights in February of 1985. The Knicks had taken a trip down to Texas and Bernard King left the state in shambles. The first night New York faced off against the San Antonio Spurs, King scored 50 to pace the Knicks in a 117-113 win. The following night the Knicks headed to Dallas and King duplicated the feat from a night earlier scoring 50 again and leading the Knicks to a 105-98 victory over the Mavericks. That trip to the lone star state would be known in Knicks lore the “Texas Massacre”. The performance in Texas coincidentally came only 5 days after King scored 18 points in 22 minutes at the NBA All-Star game in Denver. In 1984, no one could score the basketball like Bernard King, he was on the cusp of NBA super-stardom.

I am maintaining my commitment not to watch any games until they win three in a row, or fire Woodson.

I can't stand these injury excuses, the slow pace, the whining. This team is unlikable. I think that a good roster (by eastern conference standards) is just being poisoned to where it will have to be blown up and replaced with another mess.

bad teams use injuries as an excuse while good teams use the next man up philosophy, tonight several players and coaches use that excuse.

You know, that GS state team is pretty interesting.  Unfortunately they play too late.

Interesting tweets about the Dolan meeting

  1. Chris Herring @HerringWSJ 12m

Lol, Chandler was smart in discussing that. Said he was aware of the reports, but that he'd been prepped to say he wasn't aware of them.

  2. Chris Herring @HerringWSJ 14m

Chandler said he wasn't sure of any Dolan chat/talk w the tm abt roster being set. Then said "I've been prepped" on how to discuss the issue

@moneyball dude it wasnt the PG that lost our game! it was the SHOOTING GUARD!!! Udrih had a double double 15pts 10Ast Lowry 15pts 11Ast. We wouldnt of won this game anyways regardless if we had another PG! Not even your boy Lowry! SG aka Shumpert is why we lost 0pts 0Ast!! FACT!!

We went up 61-49 with 7:17 left in the 3rd and were in complete control. It was a tough last 19 minutes to endure.

@ponzies86

Yeah.... just think of the time JR takes away from Shumpert? Shumpert may be able to be the first ever to dispell the foundation of math by scoring a -8 in the point box for a single game!

Bernard was the man! Would have been an all time great if not for the ACL injury.

@Kiyan Carter Real fans have been priced out. The Garden is filled with suits in suites, tourists and out of towners as part of their package, and kids on church and club trips. Dolan doesn't want real fans there. They'll call him out. He's more comfortable with people who are there to be watched, not to watch.

Melo is not resigning with us. He needs to be traded. I've been saying it for weeks. Get what you can for him.

People post on this blog...I think everyone here supports the Knicks (for the most part). The team has to perform. Period.

Yeah, like the time Melo went down and we went on a 7 game winning streak, with the likes of Jeffries, Fields, Walker, Shumpert, Bibby, and Chandler playing alongside the player whose name I've been banned from using..

You need to actually watch a game instead of a Youtube clip. When you are playing 30 minutes a game for a team with the 3rd rated offense in the NBA and knocking down half your shots, you must be doing something right.
