Game 28: Knicks vs. Thunder, 2:30 p.m.

Screen Shot 2013-12-25 at 8.46.07 AM

The Thunder and Knicks tipoff their Christmas Day showdown at Madison Square Garden at 2:30 p.m. in a matchup between the Western Conference favorite and a New York squad that has played .500 basketball over its past six games.

Injuries will certainly be a factor in this game, as Carmelo Anthony is listed as a game-time decision after spraining his left ankle against the Magic Monday. Raymond Felton, who returned to the lineup after missing four games with a strained groin, aggravated the injury and will not play against the Thunder.

Kenyon Martin, who has been sidelined Dec. 13 with a strained abdominal muscle, is expected to be available.

Last season the Knicks and Thunder exchanged wins on their home courts. New York defeated the Thunder in Oklahoma City, Okla. but lost to them a month earlier at Madison Square Garden. Anthony and Kevin Durant averaged 36 and 35 points per game, respectively, in head-to-head contests last year.

Projected lineup (NYK): Beno Udrih, Iman Shumpert, Carmelo Anthony, Andrea Bargnani, Tyson Chandler

Projected lineup (OKC): Russell Westbrook, Thabo Sefolosha, Kevin Durant, Serge Ibaka, Kendrick Perkins

would you do this

Knicks get: Lopez Okafor Green Len I.Smith (future 1st rd pick from Nets and maybe 1st rd pick from Suns that they own from Pacers)

Nets get: Melo Chandler Martin JR Kravstov

Suns get: Pierce Garnett Mason Plumlee Udrih

knicks then release Okafor and sign Tyler

Fire the coach. Start the rebuild.

It's kind of pathetic when your own crowd cheers for the opposing teams.

We've gone back to those days that the MSG crowd looks forward to top tier teams instead of the mediocre home team.

The only way things will change is if Al Pacino, Robert Duval, and the rest of the corelone family take over the CAA.

I've been saying Smith needs to go since the offseason.

I've been saying it all year, but the combination of this clown of a "coach" and JR is not conducive to any kind of success.  You can just see it...Guy has free reign to do whatever the F he wants and it kills any kind of teamwork.

Nick Young of all people mentioned this yesterday...Talking about how 1 on 1 basketball gets everybody to get in the mindset of "Ok, you take a shot.  Now it's my shot."  How about 1 on 5 basketball?

Gotta make some kind of change.  If you can get rid of JR, great.  If not, the coach has to go.

I wish firing Woodson would make a REAL difference, but I honestly don't think this team is worth a damn.

This is a lost season even if we make the Playoffs.

Build around Melo and Thjr moving forward.

Will Woody get in the Christmas spirit and grant Chris Smith some court time?

Look the Thunder are a great team coming off getting beat at home by the Raptors of all teams.  Anyone expecting us to compete today was letting the holiday spirit get the better of their judgment.  This team just hasn't put it together enough to compete against the elite.

The true test of the team will come in the home-and-home with the Raptors.  If we lose both we can pretty much write off the season.  Two wins would probably put us within a game of 1st in the Atlantic and restore hope in a turnaround.  A split would decide nothing.

ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC!

R Jackson just punked Chandler and Stoudemire in one dunk!

This team is F'n GARBAGE!

You would really send Melo & Chandler to an Atlantic division rival?

Lmao. You would be the perfect gm for the knicks with that sort of decision making.

@VerySilentJay Dude give it up. We suck and it starts with the coach!

Stop trying to find excuses that are irrelevant to our poor playing.

Are you trying to out do Akamarb as Biggies' new appreentice.

@VerySilentJay I'm going to see The Heat in Jan. F' this edition of The Knicks. After decades of killing me, I'm going to Boo this team and the coach right off the floor.

@orlando_knickfan just fire the coach.  Preferably now before the 2 most important games of the season so far.

@Knicks_Fanatic I got a Hat, Scarf and Smart Phone Gloves.

I'll be hotter than the Knicks, that's for sure.

VerySilentJay

@C0P0 That's a mistake imo.

The talent is there. It's just completely being misused, leading to the crushing of human/athlete spirit and confidence of every player.

Add to that the frustrations of those who are not used to loinsg, and you have a losing culture and a team with no hustle, passion, or fire.

The coach has destroyed this team. Just killed it on every aspect. The fact that he still has a job is disturbing.

Time will run out after run up the court once

tommy2b

@zebeto He was telling his players to make the easy play and play an easy style of game instead of forcing things... No coach would tell their players that it's an easy game in the sense you're thinking.

tommy2b

@ExpectTheWorst akamarb was promising me slightly sexual favors if the knicks lost today... then backtracked after the first quarter citing the fact that Melo wasn't playing.

@prince the whole team is -30.  that's average for us.

Woodson had nothing to do with Amare getting posterized.

@xmenreturn @VerySilentJay Who's giving excuses? Did you actually read my post? Go back and read again.

jeandd323
jeandd323

@manchu @jeandd323 yes he does ... would you put Amare on the court if u were the coach. Why not play Cole Aldrich? or try to bring up Jeremy Tyler for a burn?

Amare is done and as such he does not belong on a NBA court.

Would u have kept  chris Smith and let Ike Diogu go after this preseason?

It has everything to do with Woodson.

xmenreturn
xmenreturn

@VerySilentJay@xmenreturn Dude, I treat the Jets like I do the Knicks and all my teams. They all suck!  I'm not delusional like you.

I'm loyal to my teams but I have no tolerance for being totally clueless about my teams.

jeandd323
jeandd323

@manchu @jeandd323 I agree that  we do not have the right  pieces. We have a lot of one dimensional players who do not hold together to make a team.

You have to concede that the coach is a big part of the problem.  Though he is not responsible for the frialities of individual players, he is a nullity from a coach standpoint :

  1. No play calling
  2. Let 1 or 2 players kill momentum of the team
  3. wrong personnel on the floor at key moments
  4. bad timeout management
  5. loyalty to underperforming players to the detriment of the team.
  6. Uneven treatment of players and inconsistent leadership

etc ..

manchu
manchu

@jeandd323

The guy had Chandler looking like he was on roller skates and flushed it down Stats throat. You think Cole Aldrich was going to stop him? Cmon now. I agree with your points about letting Diogu go, I thought that was a huge mistake for a team that was short on rebounders. Woodson is at fault for a lot of the silliness going on but im not going to hold him accountable for Jacksons dunk.
