Tonight at 8:30 p.m. ET, the Knicks (9-21) travel to AT&T Center to take on the Spurs (25-7).
The Knicks have dropped three in a row, including a Christmas Day defeat compliments of Oklahoma City and back-to-back losses in a home-and-away to Toronto. Overall, New York is winless (0-9) against Western Conference teams.
Conversely, San Antonio is riding a three-game win streak into Thursday’s game after knocking off another New York team — the Brooklyn Nets — on New Year’s Eve, 113-92.
Carmelo Anthony is expected to return to the lineup after missing the past three games due to an ankle injury. Anthony has led the team in scoring in every game he has played in this season and ranks third in the league in that statistic. Against the Spurs on Nov. 10 Anthony recorded a season-low 16 points.
Pablo Prigioni is also expected to be available against the Spurs, but Raymond Felton is doubtful for the game with a groin injury.
Projected Starters (NYK): Beno Udrih, Iman Shumpert, Carmelo Anthony, Andrea Bargnani, Tyson Chandler
Projected Starters (SA): Tony Parker, Marco Belinelli, Kawhi Leonard, Tim Duncan, Tiago Splitter
