Thankful we won, but Woody is just awful. Too many games where Bargnani scores ~10 in first half then gets no minutes in 2nd half... He doesn't even play offense-defense with Kmart down the stretch. I don't get it at all... Terrible officiating in this one as well, on a separate note. Carmelo bumped on half of his scores without a whistle, and JSmith gets a call on contact the other end. Huh?

It is entirely plausible that we have the WORST starting PG in the entire league.  Our 2 30+ year old PG's and a 2nd year player from Wichita f*** State are 100X better than Raymond Bernard Felton, Jr.

Pathetic.

So glad we won. TV would have been broken otherwise.

Good thing that it was Melo who came down with that final rebound and that he had enough sense to not chuck up a 3, but waited for the foul. lol

woodson has to be the worst coach ive seen.... i cannot believe ppl defend this guy... and ppl saying pistons are a quality opponent??????? REAALLLYYYYYYz????? Some knick fans are so delusional i wish the have a separate forum for these dudes to go on....

A win is a win and I'll take it. That said, I don't know how much longer I can watch this "coach". We were getting killed on the boards in the 4th quarter. It was the main reason the Pistons got back in the game. How does Woodson leave Bargnani, who had 11 or 12 rebounds in the first 3 quarters on the bench for the entire 4th quarter. He leaves JR out there, even after two straight turnovers off lazy passes. Just unreal!! Thanks to Melo on both ends tonight. Big hustle plays by Kmart and Shump as well.

Cheeks goes big and Woodson does not put Bargs.  He plays Felton too much.  Has the gall to put  JR in

at the point instead of Beno.  Sits Murray as soon as he makes a mistake.  He does not play Beno.  He allows Jr to play no matter how stupid he is.   The worst coach in the league.   Fire him.

The coach once again did his best to lose this game forcing awful offensive execution in the 4th, but Melo bsiled gun out tonight,

The Pistons can be one awful team when they want to, but they have a special player in Drummond and another in Monroe. Jennings and Smith are killing that team, how ironic since their last 2 big FA signings (Villanueva and Gordon) did the same.

Kmart, once again, fundamental.

JR, once again, surplus. The coach has it all wrong with him. JR must know something dirty about him. No other player in the league plays so many unearned minutes.

Our pg play was as cold as the weather.

@KnickelusKnickleby People are unfair with him. Every fan wants a top tier PG, hell, who wouldn't. But unfortunately, for better or worse, Felton/Prigs/Beno/Murry is all we got.

And basically, he gets killed for not being a top tier PG.

Unfair, if you ask me. And btw, no one was complaining last season.

He's not a top tier PG, not even in the top half of PG's in this league, but he's all we got.

He's been struggling this season, no doubt (and you can't justify that), whether it's by personal struggles or injuries, but we've seen what he can do when he's even on his B game. The overall team offense has struggled. For everything done right, as a team last season, they've struggled this season. Ball movement, movement off the ball, extra pass, dribble penentration, 3 ball %, P&R. In every aspect this team has declined if you compare this team's offense to last season.

Felton, as the PG, takes all the blame. But when the spacing is right, when offense is being properly executed by every one on the floor, everyone looks better, including Felton.

Felton gets the hate because people want a top tier PG and compare Felton to one, which is absurd.

Like I said, all these complaintes weren't around last season.

@Brostoevsky I'll rarely say this, but the coach made the right decision to not play him in the 4th. It's either him or Amare. They're both defensive liabilities, and when things got tight, the coach couldn't afford to have a defensive liability out there.

@redhorse  When your PG is Raymond Bernard Felton, Jr. because Beno is out and your only other option is Toure Murry; your screwed.

@moneyball Felton had decent 3 qtrs and a decent output for a guy coming back from injury. He had 2 costly plays that overshadowed the steady game he had.

All that being said, he should not have been playing late in the 4th. He looked gassed early in the 4th and played way too much.

@Jerry GeeAgreed. Hey, where are your Marshmelo comments? Can't call him that tonight huh?

@Tikki lol.....i noticed that when it happened. What a joke this organization is where the owner doesn't have the guts to stand by his decisions. Always hiding in the shadows and having his flunkies do his dirty work .

@OLD_KNICK When confidence is shaky, anything rattles you, and the MSG crowd has no issues with booing you out of the building if you're not performing. That's enough to rattle the team right now.

A W obviously helps, but it's something to look at.

tifoso6

@OLD_KNICK The coach undercuts their confidence.  He is a nasty bully.

VerySilentJay
VerySilentJay

@1strdpicks Fist three qtrs the team was playing decent ball, turned up the D inthe 3rd, took over, and then they gave up a bit, which allowed Detroit back in the game. Then it was awful execution on both ends by both teams non stop and the PG play declined. I think Felton, coming off an injury, had a decent game which was overshadowed by his turnovers. Take those away, and he had a decent game.

Too many minutes for a guy just coming back.

charlieoak

@VerySilentJay But we had a better PG, and said go away.  We had a excellent shooter and said go away.  New coach Woody kept his thugs Pmelo-adonna and Felton and got rid of the team building professionals like Lin and Novak.

Brostoevsky
Brostoevsky

There were stretches where he had both in at the same time, which is problematic for the reason you mention (can't have 2 defense liabilities out there). You could also argue that Bargnani was out of the game for too long by the 4Q to be counted on - but I blame that, too, on the coach. I probably would've chosen Bargnani over STAT because (a) he was having a better game and (b) his game is more complementary to Melo's.

@orlando_knickfan@redhorse  thats such a cop out statement.....why didnt he play bargs in the 4th?  13 points 11 rebounds 3 qrts...wats his reasoning

VerySilentJay
VerySilentJay

@Jerry Gee @Kiyan Carter Which is why he played great D all night long, made key buckets at the end of the game, had 4 steals and carried the team.

Yes... So soft.

It's not even about defending or justifying him, it's about seeing the production on the floor.

At this point you really don't have too much to point out.

VerySilentJay
VerySilentJay

@Jerry Gee Once again, did he not carry the team?

Did he not made the most important buckets late in the 4th?

Did he not force Smith into a moronic shot?

Did he not fight for the offensive rebound to put an end to the game?

Did he not make those 2 FT's to put Deotroit out of their misery?

You ask me, whatever was said, it worked.

orlando_knickfan
orlando_knickfan

@VerySilentJay I'm not saying I care because at the end of the day he did what he had to do.  I am sure fans come close to getting popped in the head on many occasions. I've heard stories of what Pacer fans used to say to Ewing.

VerySilentJay
VerySilentJay

@orlando_knickfan @VerySilentJay Who cares? He made the hustle plays and key buckets to get the W and carried the team offensively throughout the game along with making strong defensive plays.

So now we're down to nitpicking...  So he started looking at someone in the crowd as if it was something worth frowning upon?

That's too much.
