Game 35: Heat @ Knicks, 8pm

Heat at Knicks

At 8pm, the New York Knicks (12-22) host the Miami Heat (27-8) at Madison Square Garden in a national TV matchup.

The Knicks will start Raymond Felton, Iman Shumpert, Carmelo Anthony, Kenyon Martin, and Andrea Bargnani. The team announced that Tyson Chandler, Pablo Prigioni, Jeremy Tyler, Beno Udrih, and Metta World Peace are out with various ailments. Kenyon Martin wasn’t at the morning shootaround since he caught Chandler’s upper respiratory infection, but he will play tonight anyway.

Norris Cole, Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, Rashard Lewis, and Chris Bosh are expected to start for the Heat. Mario Chalmers and Shane Battier are out while Wade is a game-time decision, but is expected to play.

Mike Woodson said in his pre-game talk with reporters that he had not decided who would guard LeBron James, and that it might be Kenyon Martin.

spiked looked fd up tonight..lol I was at the game, it felt weird watching this game because The Garden crowd these days expect the worst and hope for the best. We only believe once we see the actual success. When the crowd changes then I'm sold we are back. Even though i all ready know it.

Great effort all game Melo always steps up to another level against LBJ...Not being negative just the obvious need to get to the line more if they do the wins will pile up I noticed no complaining tonight needs to be head strong every game....BTW the FakeJR Smith being on the floor probably will cost us 3+ trips to the line per game because the Refs look at the team differently when a guy who is undoing laces, complaining for no calls and doesn't take the game 6 million per season serious...THJR is the real JR has Wade type athletic skills he may never be an all star but compliments this team perfectly and will only get better this will happen quickly the kid is mature his father knows what it takes mentally more important than athletic fundamental effort wins games.

We could seriously win every game this month. We have 11 games left 8 at home. Toughest team is Indiana.

I honestly don't mind keeping JR. He just needs a much shorter leash.

Finally they look for Bargnani after the 1st half! Big game from the Italian tonight. Raymond Felton's Chelsea Dime Store was open for business throughout. This is a big win for a suffering fan bas

So JR said he doesnt know if he's part of Knicks future?

Heat Blog Highlights!!!

"Wade is playing SWEET STUFF and with Tyson Chandler, Pablo Prigioni, Beno Udrih all out really i expect a blood bath narghani at C cant guard bosh like really not and they will have no rim protection so wade and james attack that paint!!!!!!!! LET GO HEAT"

"this is likely a win but i would like them to destroy the knicks.. please do it for Beasley"

"Damn we're wide ass open" (lol)

"Am i a d*** because i like it when knicks fans are sad?"

"People always hating on Bron saying he came here cause he needed help to win a title.

When in reality it’s Melo who needs serious help if he ever wants to win one. He’s not the type of player that can put a team on his back."

"that last brick tells me (Shumpert's) not exactly efficient from there.. i won't even look up his stats. but anyone can catch fire so gotta keep an eye on him"

"Sigh, you let crap teams hang around and this is what happens.

They get confident."

"Ball movement, please!"

"Bargnani playing like a future first-ballot HoFer, sheesh"

"Bron ball hogging"

"jesus.. lebron can be insufferable at times.. the game is almost over.. take a quick shot and stop dribbling a million f****** times... wtf?!!

he’s the cause of the ball sticking lately.. just watch the games and you’ll see.. " (LMAO)"

JR isn't sure that his future is in New York. Don't worry too hard JR, noone is trading for you for a while.

Knicks didn't want to talk about it but JR just blew it up - unsure if part of Knicks future.

Interesting on Woodson not commenting at all. Maybe further discipline is in line.

Knicks match up well against Miami a team with no size. Knicks have trouble with teams who physically get up on them and play bully ball. Nice win but Miami seemed almost disinterested. Now on to Philly. Hope they can keep the positive vibe going and keep JR on the bench....lol

Big W tonight. Big. Despite Miami's struggles, the D was solid and never really let Miami get into the flow of their offense.

- Melo, as always, monster

- Amare, very active and had some big buckets inside. No match for Bosh or Birdman.

- Props to Felton. 13 pts,14 assists, 5 rbs & 1 steal. Monster game. For all of those who bash him non stop, understand, get it thrghou your heads: when Felton plays his steady game, the Knicks are infinetly better. 50+ pts in the paint, that's all on Felton's play. Just mosntrous, showing why he's the best PG on this team. Orchestrator in every sense of the word.

- Shump was key in the 3rd with his scoring and D. His resurgence continues.

- And, last but not least. Good job, coach, you finall made a statement to JR, and the team responded with a huge W, showing him that he's not the difference maker he tihnks he is. You ask me, the dude should sit until he learns. If he never learns, then he never plays. More time for Timmy, Murry, and Prigs.

Huge W. But one game at a time, let's not get ahead. One game, one practice at a time.

I'm surprised anyone still looks at the schedule and picks out games we should win. This team can lose to any in the league on any night, home or away.

@brookdonDitto.  The whole thing of taking 15+ shots and playing 30+ minutes when he's not being productive on offense and his defense has waned from previous years....no.  Give him 20 minutes and if he's hot, 25-30 minutes.

When he's playing "normally", he's a great scorer that can get himself open, acrobatic, and playing pretty ok defense (for rebounds and steals).  Plus, he's a pretty ok passer on offense when he isn't taking 17 shots (15 of them being step back fade aways.)

grand_puba
grand_puba

@Brostoevsky He played relatively solid D in the second half too, maybe he's finally in shape as well? I don't think that's why Woodson wasn't playing him in 2nd halves. but it was mentioned earlier in the year.

@Wicksell

yup he said that at one point he was certain he was a part of the future, but now he is not so sure.

@brookdon  "Ball movement, please!" - lol. It was iso Wade and LBJ all night long.

Oh Miami fans... 90% are bandwagoners.

Thx buddy!!

Jaime

@Jerry Gee no...he's been passing all season.  Its just that no one was making a shot (remember, Amare, JR, Shump, Felton, Beno, Bargs were HORRIBLE shots).  Only people shooting well were Timmy and Prigs...and Bargs for a stretch.

Do you want Melo to pass ALL of the time?  Cause no star or player with enough ability is gonna pass it always.

VerySilentJay
VerySilentJay

@Kiyan Carter He can't. He's a scorer. He's not LBJ.

Biggest example? Last year's playoffs.

He couldn't even win with Harden and Westrbook. They lost 4-1, just like we did against Miami that season.

@RadioRah I know it's their job but why interview a guy who didn't play other than to stir up controversy. The guy loves the attention. Best way to get through to him is to punish and ignore him.

@nysportfan The DNP speaks for itself imo. Whatever happens afterwards, let it be behind closed doors. If JR's willing to be a team player, he'll cheer along and embrace whatever happens.

His mistakes and stupidity have placed him in this predicament. Let him sit until he learns.

Well that rules out Smith. He was a different player last year. That JR was playing for a new contract. This JR is a game wrecker.
