Thursday night at 8 p.m., the New York Knicks aim to snap a three-game losing streak on the road against the defending champion Miami Heat.
The Knicks (21-36) sit five games out of the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference and tonight’s game against the Heat marks the first of three games against playoff teams, with Golden State and Chicago to follow.
Could it be the Knicks’ last chance to make a run at the playoffs? Perhaps. And it could be the last chance for coach Mike Woodson to salvage his job, which, according to reports, is again on the line over the next few games as the Knicks try to remain in contention.
The Heat (40-14) remain two games back of the Indiana Pacers for the top spot in the East and are playing at a high level of late. The champs have reeled off five consecutive wins, including one without reigning MVP LeBron James in the lineup. James is expected to play Thursday and will wear a protective face mask.
Projected Starters (NYK): Raymond Felton, Pablo Prigioni, J.R. Smith, Carmelo Anthony, Tyson Chandler
Projected Starters (MIA): Mario Chalmers, Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, Chris Bosh, Shane Battier
