The New York Knicks play host to the Indiana Pacers Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.
The Knicks (27-40) look to extend their season-long win streak to seven and improve their place in the Eastern Conference standings. Currently in the No. 9 slot, New York trails the Atlanta Hawks — winners of five in a row — by 4.5 games. Good news for the Knicks is they’ll have Tyson Chandler back in the lineup after missing each of the past two games due to personal reasons.
This marks the first game of the newly anointed Phil Jackson Era in Madison Square Garden, which means every game will be under a close microscope as the new team president will be keeping an eye on both the team’s playoff chances and its future.
Extending the streak will be no easy task, as the Knicks welcome in the East’s top team. The Pacers (50-17) have reeled off four straight wins after struggling a bit after the acquisition of Evan Turner. Indiana has defeated New York in four of the five regular-season meetings this season, and the team would need to win 12 of its final 15 games to set a team record for victories in a season.
Projected Starters (NYK): Raymond Felton, J.R. Smith, Carmelo Anthony, Amare’ Stoudemire, Tyson Chandler
Projected Starters (IND): George Hill, Lance Stephenson, Paul George, David West, Roy Hibbert
