They should go sooner it would be better for this franchise cause as the ''corsi'' guys keep saying everything will change once we get to bklyn!! OK let's jump start the party and go!!! Mark Kaiser 5pts The sooner they get to Barclays, the better... dimaio34 5pts So to get ready for tonight im getting revved up. Going to watch the Ferraro to volek he scores. Game 7. When we had Healy in net. Gotta love it. I'll check in later have fun boys. Get pumped up we got a hockey game tonight!!!!! Isles 5 Pitt 2 tag1 5pts Ticket prices still dropping for next weeks game at Yankee Stadium. Here is the current forcast for next Wednesday night, bundle up if you're going:Wednesday Night A mostly clear sky. Low 9F. Winds NW at 10 to 15 mph.I said from when this game was announced, if you want to go, wait for the day of game and buy your tickets on stubhub. dimaio34 5pts Ok so on to the game tonight.. Let's go 5-2 islanders. How's that ? Also early prediction for Stanley cup. I'm not picking the east yet. But I say Vancouver in the west Mike T. 5pts Too bad. The sooner they leave that dump, the better. isles23 5pts I'm so split on this issue. On one hand I love seeing a game at NVMC, doesn't get better for hockey viewing IMO. Have had season tix in my family for over 30 years now and have loved going to games with my dad, first him taking me to games and now me taking him. But on the other hand I understand the limitations it presents for this franchise. How run down it is, zero public transportation, and can a team survive let alone thrive being a suberb. I'm going to miss the coli but I'm hoping Barclays provides a better future, time will tell... Michael DiGirolamo 5pts Since I won't go to Brooklyn!!!!! At least 1 year left!!!! Joe McIvor 5pts I'm going to be there for last home opener at the old barn...go islanders... dimaio34 5pts Yeah a great send off is in order bring back all the former islanders of arbour is able to make it. He's first on the list. Also earl ingarfield. As well terry Simpson too. Bring it on and send off the barn with a major celebration neeza06 5pts personally wanted them to go early when the idea first came about. I was in the same boat as zee for once. why delay the inevitable especially when it could have an impact on the players you bring in (prob not too hard to sell waiting one year though anyway) but once the season started I no longer wanted them to bolt and im glad they scrapped it.Id be pretty pissed if they just up and left the coliseum without a proper fairwell no matter how ridiculously lame and nostalgic it may be or how cheesy the fairwell ads/campaign is gonna be (becasue you know it will be). Give it one more go and maybe im pushing it but hopefully we can get just 1 more playoff series victory at least to send it off the right way ( and a few more sell out playoff crowds loud enough to shake that places rusted rafters because that is easily what will be missed most even though its a rare event) dimaio34 5pts Ok great news. I live in Calgary so this means I can see 3 more games. I go down to the island to see a couple. I love the old barn. Nothing like it. That's a hockey rink. I'm not a fan of the new ideas. There's no atmosphere. I like the old rinks. Lots of heritage in those old buildings. But at least brroklyn will be small. Just wonder about those limited view seats. They are going to have to change that. Glad to see viz back getting better just when we are playing hot to great news tpjm 5pts @Mark Kaiser Exactly!!! 3rdname 5pts @tag1 Only issue is all tickets are hard tickets no e-tix so you would need to purchase by Monday afternoonoon off stubhub so they can ship in time. Many of the tix are brokers I bought last week for $63 sitting in grandstands 2 sections past foul pole 1st base line my tickets came from Chicago of all places. For the Devils game on sunday stubhub pulled 75% of tix yesterday at 3pm prices jumped from 65-100.I think seats will drop to $30 on craigslist and stubhub pickup window gameday for bleachers and $50 for others. Im up top so i am covered atleast from the wind I refused to go bleachers cause seats have no backs. doc942 5pts @dimaio34 The Canucks? How do you figure when there's Anaheim, Chicago, LA… etc. Or are you just going out on a limb to predict the unpredictable. ;-0 tpjm 5pts @Mike T. Bingo!! Mark Kaiser 5pts @Mike T. and the people based on the vote and the politicians. :) Zee Executioner 5pts @isles23 It will IF AND ONLY IF WANG SELLS. That is the only thing holding the Islanders franchise back -not the suburbsnot the lack of public transitnot the arena, which could have been renovated 18 times till Sunday if THE OWNER HAD BEEN SERIOUS ABOUT DOING SO!!WANG HOLDS THE ISLANDERS FRANCHISE BACK! Zee Executioner 5pts @neeza06 one more playoff round victory? lolI think that's a pipedream. Zee Executioner 5pts @dimaio34 Not like I have a dog in the race, but what is the difference between trekking from Calgary to Uniondale than Calgary to Brooklyn? That is one trip that should not be affected that much by the 40 miles between the two locales. dimaio34 5pts Ok I get the feeling van gets really good at the deadline. Thinking they add Steve ott and our boy Matty Moulson. They are playing desperate hockey. And a couple of team building gamers with kings and flames can really pull them together. Just think if they add Thomas to back up Lou. And hey torts knows what he's doing as well. I feel they gel at the right time isles23 5pts Then how come every owner in team history has had the same issues? I don't love Wang and I wish he put more into the team but to blame him for everything is too much. And for the record he doesn't own the building, why would it be up to him to renovate it? I don't think that's how tenant agreements usually work. dimaio34 5pts There is no difference. I just love the barn. Could sit on there with no game on and just envision the glory days. It has a special feeling Vicp73 5pts @dimaio34 I do love Steve Ott, master Pest! Vicp73 5pts @Don22 @victor pereira @doc942 @dimaio34 LOL, Vancouver and Toronto are the equivalent of the Rangers, F'n hate them so much Don22 5pts @victor pereira@doc942@dimaio34I don't think I will ever root for Vancouver after they broke my heart in 1994. dimaio34 5pts Ott adds grit and leadership. Not flashy but effective at what he does dimaio34 5pts Hey I'll tell ya would I love to get bieksa out of van. Oh boy is that guy a great player dimaio34 5pts Yeah I heard that too but in the back of my mind the Canucks have always been a team that can get it done. I hear ya about Ana la chic but it just how I feel right now. dimaio34 5pts Actually the flames got tougher. But they ain't better. In fact not even Burke can change this mess. They gotta get rid of the team pres first. But they really killed this franchise with firing Keenan. They were on the brink of something really good Vicp73 5pts @doc942 @dimaio34 How are you guys enjoying Brian Burke on that side of the country? Entertaining as hell when he was here in Toronto Vicp73 5pts @doc942 @dimaio34 LOL you heard Don Cherry pick Vancouver on Hockey Night in Canada didn't you Dimaio??? I Love Don to but i think he's wrong on this one doc942 5pts @dimaio34 But maybe you're a Canucks fan in addition to being an Islanders fan and just looking at the bright side of things. doc942 5pts @dimaio34 That's a lot of "changes" and "if's". When did Steve Ott ever make a difference on a hockey team? LOL. If you said they were adding Evander Kane and Dustin Byfuglien I would say you have a point. But Steve Ott and Matt Moulson? Zee Executioner 5pts @Mike T., As I said before, he could have worked out a public/private partnership for that stage of the project and gotten it off of the ground considering he was basically given the land for $1. Mike T. 5pts @Zee Executioner Why would he front his own money to improve the building without any guarantees as to the rest of the project? No one in their right mind would do that. isles23 5pts Fair enough that hasn't been the same issues but there have been issues since the inception of the franchise non the less. I know you have a deep hatred for the man so I'm not gonna bother to try to convince you other wise. We just have to agree to disagree here. You blame him for everything I blame him for three things. The Milbury era, not spending more, and letting Neil Smith go. Even though I like Snow I do admit he couldve been even a better gm if he just had a year or two to learn under Smith. Zee Executioner 5pts As a part of the Lighthouse Project Suozzi gave Wang and Rechler permission to renovate the NVMC before the rest of the project was approved (which obviously it wasn't). Trust me, the County would not have stopped Wang from working out an agreement or trying a public-private partnership to renovate the NVMC. That wasn't what Wang wanted. Zee Executioner 5pts @isles23 They haven't all had the same issues. Roy Boe's issues were different from John Pickett's issues were different from John Spano's issues were different from Gluckstern and Milstein's issues (actually, Gullotta and those two had an arena deal until Milstein blew the whole thing up) were different from Wang's issues). Yes, the arena lease Pickett signed in 85' soured in the 90's, especially once UFA started in the NHL in 93' - it changed the game and that's when the Isles really started to lack profitability. However, to look at all of the Islander's ownership situations in a vacuum is a gross oversimplification and mistake. Wang could have had a refurbished arena AND DID GET A RENEGOTIATED SUBLEASE ON THE NVMC IN 2006 THAT NETS HIM PROFITS FROM ALL EVENTS AT THE NVMC. isles23 5pts Dude get a grip. Its our fault? Why cause we realize that Wang is the owner and that's not changing. I got news for you, this is a hobby for people not work. I don't want to go to protests or rallies because of a sports owner. If I'm gonna take my time to do something like that I would pick a much more important issue than an owner of a sports team. Its supposed to be fun, sorry there are some of us that try to keep it that way. Our fault, geez, get over yourself already. Zee Executioner 5pts In my eyes, only? Dude, they are in last! Zee Executioner 5pts @Don22 @Zee Executioner @dimaio34 There have many good times since 1984?!?!?!?!REALLY?!?!?!?!GO BLOW SMOKE UP SOMEONE ELSE'S REAREND! Zee Executioner 5pts @Michael Frias @doc942 @Zee Executioner @dimaio34 I am not pessimistic about anything. I am realistic. Zee Executioner 5pts @doc942 @Zee Executioner @dimaio34 I am wide awake. IT IS YOU AND YOUR BUNCH ASTROTURFING WITH THEIR HEADS IN THE SAND!!! ENJOY THE CRAPHOLE THAT IS BROOKLYN AND THANK THE EMPEROR!! Zee Executioner 5pts @Don22 You project. You and your band of sockpuppets, minus bubba who just chooses to not hate someone who has stolen the team from him, are the ones with the agenda. I want Wang out. He is a scumbag and the fact that you defend him left and right makes you and Mr.C and all the other handles that astroturf here, complicit. You guys are not fans in my book. YOU and your Charlie loving posts are the reason this team sucks every year. IT IS YOUR FAULT! Don22 5pts @Zee Executioner@dimaio34That last paragraph is so untrue Zee. Just because there are people that chose to root for the team and don't condemn the management with every breath, it doesn't mean that the state of the team doesn't bother us. You like to say that my agenda is based on some sort of mythical relationship with Wang. By those standards, your wrath of Wang must have something to do with him personally screwing you and it goes much deeper than just hockey. I don't begrudge you not liking what Wang & co has done. That's fine. What I don't like is that you seem to feel it's your sole duty to crap on anyone that tries to find anything remotely good to cheer about. mrcisback 5pts @Don22 @Zee Executioner @dimaio34 Haven't you figured it out yet Don. That guy is a Ranger fan just here to break Islander fans balls. Every positive Islander fans comment about the team they love is mocked and put down over and over again. By the way i'll be at the game tonight section 222. Michael Frias 5pts @doc942@Zee Executioner@dimaio34 Why does he do it? Because it's extremely easy to be a pessimistic fan. Complain and bash the team left and right when things are bad, but reap the benefits of being a "life long die-hard" when the team is good.Being a pessimistic fan is such a cop-out. doc942 5pts @Zee Executioner @doc942 @dimaio34 Go back to sleep ZEE…! We'll wake you when it's over. Don22 5pts @Zee ExecutionerI'm calling the kettle black? How so? Because I let myself get sucked in to your rhetoric and agenda? Shame on me for that I guess. Zee Executioner 5pts @Don22HA! Pot, let me introduce you to Kettle! lol And of course there have been good times since 1984 - just not nearly enough. Don22 5pts @Zee Executioner@Don22@dimaio34What seems ridiculous is why you continue to keep with it. I mean, if your only joy from this team was from 1979 - 1984 then why are you still here? I just don't how someone who denounces pretty much everything about this team still bothers. I already know what you are going to say - you don't denounce everything about the team - just Wang and his staff. Well if that's the case then again - why bother until they at least sell the team. Seem like you either get a kick out of the controversy or you don't have anything better to do. Zee Executioner 5pts @doc942 @dimaio34 What a bunch of crap.I was at quite a few games during that time myself, and the games back then bore LITTLE TO NO RESEMBLANCE TO THE BUSH-LEAGUE GARBAGE OF TODAY!!!!!!!!! doc942 5pts @dimaio34 Great post dimaio34. I agree and I get that feeling as well having grown up watching those glory years live and in person… carrying the cup on home ice. It feels like yesterday in many respects. Zee Executioner 5pts @dimaio34 lol....okay, but even longer ago. When the Yankees were in the bad old days in 1989, 1990, and 1991 sure the memories some fans had of 1949,50,51,52,53,56,58,61,62,77, 78 had their place. But it wasn't rammed down people's throats, and it was generally recognized that something needed to change pronto in order for the continuity of that winning tradition to be passed onward. It seems like on this site people get overly maudlin about the nostalgia and aren't remotely bothered by the fact that there is no connection between then and now. dimaio34 5pts Not really zee they had great years before that. Loved 78-79 as well. Also those years were that great that's why I can go back and enjoy. Those 5 years were some of the best hockey ever played. The years leading up to the 4 cups were building blocks and I enjoyed those as well. Listen the isles in those 5 years were so good that even if the islanders left new York I would still watch those games everyday that's how much they meant to me and how much I enjoyed those days Zee Executioner 5pts @Don22 @Zee Executioner @dimaio34 Sure, and they have their place, but living off of 5 seasons is a bit ridiculous after a while. isles23 5pts @don22. Seems like he doesn't like it when people are happy, even if its just simply bringing up good memories. Don22 5pts @Zee Executioner@dimaio34Dude, why can't you let the guy reminisce about memories he's had at the NVMC? We all have them. Why do you have to shoot it down? dimaio34 5pts Listen even if we are subpar in your eyes only by the way. The old days always live in my heart I still watch the old games regularly What a time that was. This team is picking it up at the right time. And yes we are making the playoffs Zee Executioner 5pts @dimaio34 - you can envision the glory days with a sub-par team on the ice, eh? That's dubious. I'm sorry.
