Looks like Thanasis is going straight to westchester through some new CBA loophole that allows us to keep his rights.

for those who were worried about getting rid of both JR and Shump in a hypothetical Bledsoe trade .....................Timmy wouldnt be the only SG left on the squad .

Shams Charania: After deciding on D-League's Westchester or Europe, Thanasis Antetokounmpo has agreed on Knicks' affiliate next season, sources tell RealGM. Twitter @ShamsCharania - See more at: http://hoopshype.com/rumors.htm#sthash.DF0idWRK.dpuf

First, let me say that after searching thru the news, there is NO mention anywhere but here of any rumor for Bledsoe that involves the Knicks.

That said, it is not impossible for the Knicks to trade for him, as many here have suggested.  We can't S&T, but e.g. we can trade for him straight up after he signs his qualifying offer.  We're not gonna get him for JR and trash - we'd have to build a package like Timmy, Larkin, and a #1.

However, our best move would be to wait and sign him straight up next summer.  I hope he accepts his QO, the more quality FAs next summer the better.

As I said...it comes down to a 19.3 million write off ... that's just a bit much .. I have to agree with @Sandro Guedes Phil gets Exec of the year honors after that robbery...lol

@brookdon It's 50/50 imo. Given how competitive overseas leagues are today, I would not have minded at all seeing him play in Europe.

On the flipside, Phil can follow his development closely now that he's staying.

Missing the playoffs with Melo and watching Denver use our lottery pick is irony.

I disagree man. 2k surpassed live a few years back and is easily the most consistent sports game out now.

ESPN NFL 2k5 was the greatest sports video game of all time.

Zebeto swears it's legit and on his Facebook news feed. So take it to the bank.

@NoVaCaInE @BiggieTKB It's clear that Jennings isn't up to par. Last season was tremendously disappointing and the interest in Jennings is likely a sign that they want to dump him.

7. Salaries remain flat: $25,500, $19,000 and $13,000 for the league's three player classifications. Which means D-League players are virtually playing for free -- and a modest per diem on the road of $40 compared to $120 in the NBA -- although they do receive housing and insurance benefits. It was also brought to my attention this week that the D-League quietly does have a per-team salary cap of $178,000 ... with a dollar-for-dollar luxury tax, just like in the NBA, for teams that go over that amount.

8. Foreign teams that want to pull players out of the D-League must pay $40,000, $45,000 or $50,000, depending on the player's classification, to buy out their D-League deals.

@BiggieTKB The NBA needs to fix that if they want to have a true minor league system. Players will continue to go oversees and get paid. 25K is ridiculous!

@BiggieTKB @TKBK1ng

Bledsoe played better with Dragic on the court, so he could work with Jennings. Phoenix lost Frye, so they could use a big. I just don't see either team willing to pay want they want. Both turned down deals around the $12 million range.

If they play out their QO's, they will be missing out on millions. How do they make that up on their next contract, especially if they get an injury or have a season where they don't play well?

NoVaCaInE
NoVaCaInE

@BiggieTKB @TKBK1ng Have to find a taker for Jennings 1st. Makes no sense at all being stuck with a bunch of big contracts you can't move... Come on Big!

NoVaCaInE
NoVaCaInE

@VerySilentJay @NoVaCaInE @BiggieTKB Jennings doesn't want to player in Detroit. He only went for the money. Same can be said for Smith. I personally believe Jennings is a good PG and a solid #2 option on offense. Even in an off year he put up good numbers and played well. If you are looking for him to be your star franchise player then you will be disappointed.

If that makes the trade for Melo more palatable, go for it. However you want to view it, the deal for Melo has not produced the outcomes most expected.

Yes, but what video game doesn't that's out today?

@ChamanTKB. Not for Jewish people... Hanukkah is like 14 days long and they get presents every day... There's a new sheriff in town, I'm hoping for the best... Good night

@SSSW. Wishful thinking from bored and anxious Knick fans

So people like Sheridan think it could happen, but you don't? I'm not saying it's guaranteed, but I've seen stranger things happen

@Knicks_Fanatic @BiggieTKB @TKBK1ng You would have no issues paying Jennings 8M+ then turn around and pay Bledsoe 15M per?

Oh..and Brandon Jennings ain't Dragic.

DourSiesel
DourSiesel

@Knicks_Fanatic @BiggieTKB Thats not melos fault though, 20 million invested in a bum like stat would cripple any team. At least with melo we got to 54 wins, its actually the stoudemire contract that didnt pan out and kept the team from progressing for these past couple of seasons.

ChamanTKB

@greekfreak

Hanukka might last 14 days...but it's only once per year..last time I checked...and BTW the 14 days have expired since the trade of Fatboy and hands of stone AKA Butterfingers

I mean I don't believe it either but chatter is chatter. You never know.

@NoVaCaInE

No, I'm saying you could play Jennings and Bledsoe together possibly, but neither team will pay Bledsoe want he wants. Detriot could use another guard and has a logjam in the front court. Phoenix could use a big and has plenty of guards.

The deal of Monroe for Bledsoe makes sense, but not at max salaries. Neither player is worth that yet.

greekfreak
greekfreak

But it's days days and days of blessings, so one here and one there works for me... Let's agree to disagree, I'm thru witcha... As I've said, next year, the only good pg available is Rondo, if u wanna put all your eggs in D Rose 2.0, then feel free... No smart player just let's their contract expire, so I say act now, if possible.... If not, as I said 5 times, IM FINE WITH THAT TOO

greekfreak
greekfreak

@SSSW. Basically, today it was reported that Phoenix is open to trading Bledsoe, so that started up the convo

greekfreak
greekfreak

@Mel. I'm not on FB or anything, but someone else mentioned it... I could be wrong on that, just made an example

NoVaCaInE
NoVaCaInE

@BiggieTKB @NoVaCaInE I agree we see a lot of 2 PG lineup's. It was successful for us as well. Difference is we weren't paying Kidd, Felton and Prigs top dollar.

IMO, Detroit needs a SG who isn't ball dominant. Someone like Kevin Martin comes to mind. Creates more balance on the floor.

@Mel. It's all hypothetical, as usual ;)
