J.R. to the Rack? What a Concept!

Via NY Post

“Smith, who started 1 of 9 after warning Sunday the Knicks may face an early playoff exit if they don’t step up, made two straight driving buckets late in the third and stayed
aggressive all night attacking the rim. Felton scored on a floater to put the Knicks up, 66-61, and they led 66-63 after three quarters.

β€œIt’s big time for us, a huge win against a good team,’’ Smith said.

We’ve been screaming for J.R. to utilize his athleticism in getting to the FT line for a long time both here and on Twitter. There’s no coincidence between him getting to the line 10 times and NOT settling and the Knicks having success as a team. We’ve been critical of Woodson here over the past few weeks but he gets full marks last night for his unique line up in picking up pace and spreading the floor as well as benching J.R. at the end of the half allowing for a Knicks run before Utah closed the half strong.

Not sure if anyone else picked up on this but the Jason Kidd, Kurt Thomas “we’re good, we got this” look before the game started made me feel much better. Add that to the encouraging Melo news and things just may be looking up here in Knicksland.
