Kidd Making Progress but Return Still Uncertain

According to Michael Scotto at RealGm.com, Jason Kidd is progressing toward a possible return, but the Knicks are still unsure about exactly when they can expect to have the guard back in the lineup:

“Well, he’s back out on the floor shooting a little bit, but when his return is expected, I don’t know at this point still,” said Woodson.

Kidd will be brought back slowly when he returns.

“Based on what the doctors tell me, we might have to monitor his minutes big time until he’s actually at full strength again. So we’ll just play it by ear and see what happens.”

The Knicks would obviously be wise to bring Kidd back slowly, as the idea is to have him ready to play at the end of the season as opposed to the beginning. New York will also have the luxury of being careful thanks to the improved play of Pablo Prigioni, who has subbed in spectacularly since Kidd went down with the injury.

Kidd’s play had been one of the big stories for the Knicks during their hot start to the season, as in addition to his role facilitating the improved ball movement New York’s enjoyed for much of the year, he’d also been simply shooting lights out from the field. The Knicks are certainly going to miss that buffet of skills, but appear to be smartly playing it safe in Kidd’s recovery.
