He signed with the Knicks on Oct. 7, 1977, playing three seasons in New York, averaging 7.4 points in 180 games.

Hazzard spent five seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers (2006-11), including as a member of NBA Championship teams in 2009 and 2010, working in player development and as an advance scout, and also as an assistant coach for the D-Fenders, the Lakers’ D-League affiliate. The New York Knicks' new assistant coach, Brian Keefe, is "Kevin Durant's guy", according to league sources.

Keefe had been part of the Oklahoma City Thunder organization for seven years before being hired to join Derek Fischer's staff on Wednesday. The long-time assistant developed a close relationship with Durant during his time in Oklahoma City and Durant even credited Keefe with putting him in his place regarding his body language and attitude. While a lot can happen before Durant becomes a free agent after the 2015-16 season, it can't hurt the Knicks' recruiting pitch to have "Durant's guy" on their staff.

No need to worry though for the Shump lovers as Denver and Cleveland would laugh at those trade offers.

Iman Shumpert must be the most overrated Knick in history. I read the comments and people drool over him...he can't shoot, can't dribble, and is a decent on ball defender. He was a defensive beast only as a rookie, never been the same since the Acl. People really wouldn't trade him for Waiters or Faried? Are you kidding?

Let me make one thing clear! I hope Shump explodes this year, but unfortunately his stats got worse every year... Maybe it was Woody, whom I thought was horrible, but yet some of you same people have defended him against me. I'm confused about that... I just mentioned Fareid because Stat and BarnBoy are the worst rebounding PFs in the league, and there was a trade mentioned in the past between him and Shump... Take a muscle relaxer and chill, that's why people get banned, y'all take stuff too seriously... If we all fealt the same way, we would be robots with nothing to talk about... I was one if the ones comparing Shump to Wade early in his career, unfortunately, I was dead wrong! Hopefully Fisher can turn him around, and you guys are all right... Drink a brew or blaze a fatty, but relax is what should be the outcome... Holy Batman

greekfreak

Just wondering how those people feel that said trading Shump for Fareid was a bad trade??

@nyace First the summer of Lebron wasn't catchy enough... so for Melo, they called it the Melodrama.  For Dwight Howard it was the Dwightmare.  We weren't so involved in that.  But then this summer we went through Melodrama pt 2.  Cool.

Now we're gonna be wrapped up in this "Duranticipation".

Not sure this is where I wanna be, so I think I will ignore all (or most) "Durant to NY" reports for now. I will operate under the assumption that he will resign in OKC.

For now.

@MetsKnicks. Thank you.. I got attacked by 2 or 5 of them last night... I was alone in my efforts to open their eyes, to no avail... I mentioned the Shump for Fareid trade and was attacked

@greekfreak waiters> shump faried>>> shump

I used to be the biggest shump supporter but you can't just keep declining when your suppose to be getting better..bad coach or not

Jon Leech
Jon Leech

@greekfreak  I thought and was hoping we were taking faried not shump in that draft :(

greekfreak
greekfreak

All the coaches said Fareid was a huge surprise, look it up!

greekfreak
greekfreak

So he wouldn't have made it over Plumlee and Drummond and G*Y(an add on) and the guy from Toronto?? LMAO... Thanks for the laugh bro... We can agree to disagree but George is a whole different position... Let's not go there with the name calling!

VerySilentJay
VerySilentJay

@greekfreak Didn't we just dump a one dimensional big man? And beware, the one we dumped was actually average size for his position.

greekfreak
greekfreak

PS: Shump is a shooting guard, that can't shoot!

lobcity2

@greekfreak

Not a big fan of his. I am not impressed with his FIBA performance until i see it in the NBA.

Waiter is currently better than Shump, is younger and has much more upside. Shump is a better defender....but Waiters is a better player who has star potential. Shumpert is nothing more than a role player. Waiters also shot a good percentage from 3.....btw...what percentage did Shump shoot last yr?

newyork8
newyork8

@TKBK1NG @knicks2015 you wouldn't trade shump for waiters? What exactly is the need that shump fills besides playimg good on ball defense sometimes?

greekfreak
greekfreak

@newyork8. Wish you were around last night... There were a few guys attacking me. They must like guys whose stats decline, yearly

greekfreak
greekfreak

@Jon Leech. Wish you were around last night. I got attacked by the Shump die hards! Apparently they love guys whose stats get worse year by year

NoVaCaInE
NoVaCaInE

@greekfreak PS: Faried has one skill, rebounding. Still waiting for him to average 10 rpg...

NoVaCaInE
NoVaCaInE

@TKBK1NG @greekfreak Thank you! People really need to watch more games and stop looking at stats. Every time I watched a Denver game, he was getting killed by the opposing big. Just because you block a few shots here and there, doesn't mean your'e a great defender. Haven't we learned that from Amar'e all these years?

greekfreak
greekfreak

@NoVaCaiNe. He gets more blocks and rebounds then every one of our starters, including Tyson from last year... Not sure what you guys want, plus he's still in a rookie contract

greekfreak
greekfreak

@lobcity2. When all is said and done, he will be miles ahead of Shump... You're a hard guy to impress.... Coach K seems to be rather impressed and he is a bball guru!

NoVaCaInE
NoVaCaInE

@lobcity2 Same! The guy has no offensive game. He's just pure hustle. He also isn't that good of a defender.

greekfreak
greekfreak

@TKBK1NG. Greece isn't competition? They were in the game for 3 quarters... C'Mon now... That's selective memory at it's best...

greekfreak
greekfreak

@Novacaine. And Shump's stats got worse every year. Look it up. I'm not impressed by that either... And you can't teach hustle..

greekfreak
greekfreak

@NoVaCaiNe. Ummmmmmmmm... He's been scoring like 15-20 per game in Fiba

greekfreak
greekfreak

@TKBK1NG @NoVaCaiNe. And Shump played good D one year, been burnt toast since

greekfreak
greekfreak

@NoVaCaiNe. And every time I watched a Knick game, which was every one, Shump did nothing.. At least the guy gets rebounds, blocks a few shots, and hustles... I watch games, not read stats!

greekfreak
greekfreak

I don't recall saying he was a great defender! He rebounds and blocks shots is what I said...

lobcity2
lobcity2

@greekfreak I'm not. I just want to see it in the NBA first. I haven't seen it yet.

NoVaCaInE
NoVaCaInE

@greekfreak Idc what he does against scrubs. He's been mediocre against NBA talent.

greekfreak
greekfreak

A shooting guard that can't shoot is useless... He's gone, enjoy him while you can

greekfreak
greekfreak

We need someone that hustles and rebounds ala Dennis Rodman

greekfreak
greekfreak

@TKBK1NG. He already is IMO.. He's on the Olympic team... Shump will never make that squad, ever!

greekfreak
greekfreak

@KnickelusKnickleby. Thank you... He scores without getting plays called for him, rebounds and blocks shots... Exactly what we need, not a sulking, no confidence having, no offense having guy that's good in D 25% of the time

greekfreak
greekfreak

Ummmmmmm.... And Shump's been above mediocre??? LMAO... Our team needs a rebounder and hustler... What exactly was 5 time champ, Dennis Rodman?

greekfreak
greekfreak

He played good D his rookie year, hasn't been the same since injury... Last year, when he was called upon due to Fatty stinking it up on D, he got toasted... Not sure what's so special about that... I was a huge Shump supporter, but his numbers have gotten worse year by year.

greekfreak
greekfreak

Unless you count moping as doing something... Yeah, he averaged 5 or 6 points a game, maybe one steal, and got toasted by pgs like John Wall... Did you watch those games? What's so special about that? We have no rebounder... Have yourself a good night

NoVaCaInE
NoVaCaInE

@greekfreak You're the only person comparing them lol. Not me. Dennis Rodman? Lmfaoooo!!! Dennis played defense and was 10 times the rebounder Faried is. Give me a break!

greekfreak
greekfreak

I will enjoy THJR, could care less about Denver... And I will enjoy saying I told you so when his career takes off, in Denver ;)

greekfreak
greekfreak

@TKBK1NG. It's common knowledge that Fareid surprised everyone... And speaking of Love, how's his Defense? Are you in contact with Coach K, Coach Thibs or Jim Boeheim? I doubt it, so how can you say who would have and wouldn't have made the team... Even if they made the team, I'm sure Fareid would be there over Plumlee and Drummond... So you don't know if he would have made the squad or not... I'm just saying, we need someone like him that rebounds and scores without having any plays called for them... I used Shump because that trade was mentioned in the past

greekfreak
greekfreak

And where did I compare them? I said we needed a hustler like Dennis Rodman.. How were his stats after his 2nd year? He wasn't no rebounding machine or defensive stalwart after his 2nd season

chitwood
chitwood

so you would rather have a one dimentional sg,than a pf

greekfreak
greekfreak

Dude. Scotty Pippen and Shump's name shouldn't even be used in the same conversation.. Scottie was the # 2 scorer on the team... Shump's #'s have gotten worse year by year...

greekfreak
greekfreak

And Shump and his 6 ppg isn't gonna want to get paid... Lol.... Talk about overrated, you guys have him in a pedestal and he got worse every year!!! Where they do that at?

NoVaCaInE
NoVaCaInE

@greekfreak Wow you really are out of your mind. Scroll up. You started the Shump vs. Faried debate. Now you didn't compare them? Whatever guy. Like I said. I'm done here.

greekfreak
greekfreak

@TKBK1NG. Yeah ok.. Did Dennis Rodman ever make the Olympic team?
