Carmelo Anthony has made the rounds in his free agent trip at the Knicks remain confident that they will re-sign the star forward (Cacciola, July 5). The Knicks have offered Anthony a max contract of $129 million and in the next 48 hours he is expected to accept that offer (Isola, July 5).
The Knicks remain determined to build a contender if they re-sign Anthony and in addition to adding Jose Calderon in the Tyson Chandler trade, are also going after former Phil Jackson player Pau Gasol. To help improve the team, Anthony could even take a little less money (Berman, July 5). Anthony could take the max money for 2014-15 and then take 7.5 percent pay reduction every year.
