The New York Knicks’ first-round, 12th overall pick, will go to the Orlando Magic because of the Carmelo Anthony trade (Begley, May 20).

I HATE being a Knicks fan. If I did not LOVE the Knicks as much as I do, going on four decades now, I would stay clear of this Dola-Moronic organization!!!

As for the dumping on Ty stuff, yea I get it a failed year requires a whipping boy but truth is he is a much better asset to a team with a real PG. He not only had to guard his man but guard everyone other guys man as well. He all of a sudden was expected to create offense in the post, something he has never done. Ty is a top 10 center flaws & all, add him to a team with a PG who knows how to actually run P&R along with a coach who can call something other then Iso for Melo & he will be what he is a high end defensive center who can help an established team win. We are wasting him & he knows it I just hope the front office does as well.

Rumor this rumor that....Look Melo is no fool he knows his prime years as a player are a small window & as much as he may love NY he has every right to make that a huge factor in what he does at this point.

Kerr demanded a kings ransom with no track record as coach, GS thinking they can get lucky again after M.Jackson so they over paid to try & see if lightning will strike twice.

We need to look at the team realistically, no legit #2 broken down over paid guys that may have some value to teams looking for a final piece. A log jam at the SG spot to go a long with no legit starting PG.

The Knicks need to tank a year or be super creative in approaching the future at this point it has to be one or the other, no more mortgaging the future without a clear plan.

Failing to amnesty Amare was the last of a bunch of mistakes but we have light at the end of that contract at last

So in the end if a great deal is on the table for Melo it is legit to look at it, if we can get a good deal for Ty then that also should be in full play (IMO its the main plan in play right now) Melo is not going to do the him vs the world thing anymore its just breaking him down.

As for this thread about "the pick used to get Melo" nonsense who at 12 is the prospect or will the player Melo is & has been? This is just an underhanded attempt to get hits & comments & gin up anger. The Melo haters will eat it up of course because they rather be lead then think.

Who is going to line up to take Tyson Chandler and pay him $14.5 million, throwing in a draft pick for the privilege? Seems to be a remote possibility, unless we take back a worse contract in the process. There are several good free agent centers available in the free agent class, including Gortat, Gasol, Hawes, Monroe (RFA), Kaman, and Okafor.

The Kings put the No. 8 pick in the draft on the trade block immediately after the lottery Tuesday night, league sources told NBA.com, clearly looking to add at least one impact veteran in an attempt to push into the playoff conversation next season rather than wait for another rookie prospect to develop. NBA.com -

This is an example of a team constantly drafting and "rebuilding" now they are tired of it...haven't gotten the luck of the draw...

Um...Phil?....Offer up some of our "impact" verterans...please...

Melo isn't a Thibbs "type of player"...Kerr didn't want Melo...yet now both teams are after him??  LOL....people here really don't know what theyre talking about...seriously.  Melo stays in Ny at 19.5 per....lets go...

Knicks are Back!!!

Had to say it...

Frank Monastra
Frank Monastra

what if we did Melo and Prig to Clev for Waiters Jack and #1 pick

then made a trade to move down to 4 give them Bargs and Felton and Magic also give up Nelson Harkless and we take Randle

FA we sign Steve Blake

and Phil looks to trade JR Smith

Frank Monastra
Frank Monastra

so GSW might be a player for Melo

Curry Thompson Iggy Melo Bogut

nasty starting lineup

David Lee, Harrison Barnes, Draymond Green, Steve Blake (sign and trade)

no way it s work unless Phil loved David Lee, who has 2 years left on his contract

DOES IMAN FIT IN WITH THE KNICKS FUTURE ???

"Now Shumpert appears to have a legitimate future with Phil Jackson’s Knicks. According to a league source, Jackson is a fan of Shumpert.

Shumpert is a defensive-minded player who sacrifices his game anddoesn’t need to score a lot to have an impact.

Iman is still part of this,’’ a league source familiar with the Knicks’ thinking told The Post.

Jackson's arrival brought about a sharp 180 regarding the wayShumpert was viewed inside Madison Square Garden leadership rings.

Prior to Phil taking the Knicks job, Shumpert was the subject of endless trade speculation—which came off as borderline insane, given (a) his status one of the team's two young assets and (b) the names mentioned to be coming to New York in potential deals (Darren Collison, Matt BarnesJason Thompson and a poorly-fitting Kenneth Faried, to name a few).

"Oh, [heck] yeah," said former Knicks coach Jeff Van Gundy when asked whether Shumpert could have played for his rough-and-tumble Knicks teams of the 1990s. "He's not as offensively skilled as John Starks was, but he has that same 'I'm never gonna back down' sort of belief. Some call that

c-o-c-k-y, but find me a great player that doesn't have that trait."

Consider: Of the 44 two-man units that have logged a minimum of 250 minutes for the Knicks this season, the Shumpert-Anthony tandem ranks sixth in overall net rating (6.7), per NBA.com (media stats subscription required). They are first if you break it down by duos with over 1,000 minutes tallied.

Statistical cherry-picking? Perhaps. But with over 1,500 minutes logged on the floor together, neither is it an accident.

Shoot 3s at a league-avg level, and stop the team from going 1-8 when he's out of the lineup. Rebound at a top-five level for a guard, defend better than any other wing on the roster. Team lost five straight without him, and opposing wings set 5 season-highs in that span he was out. People oddly focus on just his scoring, when Hardaway does literally nothing but score.

The Cavs are pretty solid at 1-4, assuming they re-sign Deng, which is a bold assumption. This leads me to believe that they are taking Embiid, but the Cavs are terrible at draft picks when there isnt a clear cut #1 (Lebron/Kyrie). Its tough not to fantasize about trading for a pick in a lottery this deep, but it is almost impossible with the amount of assets the Knicks possess. I will still be watching with my fingers crossed.

Well at least we were spared the embarrassment. I fear the overall philosophy of trading unprotected picks will not change but I hope I'm wrong.

Cleveland is a poor city therefore to sell tickets they must get enough attention to contend

with a player like Jabari Parker with Kyrie they will definitely move into the elite young group

what baffles me is how they got 4 #1 picks within 10 years

something is fishy with the lottery to me....

Perkins is making over 9 mil. next year, plus Oklahoma is not trading it's "young asset" Jackson any way!

@Sandro Guedes  Phil is probably going to use Chandler as a trading piece with JR or Felton in it.

I don't think Knicks have the assets to get into top 10 of the draft unless they sign and trade Melo which isn't likely considering teams picking in that range don't seem to be attractive destinations for him. Chandler might bring mid to late 1st rder.

@Frank Monastra. Melo definitely DOES NOT want to go to Cleveland...

If I were Melo that would be my second choice after NY. Curry-Thompson-Melo would be unguardable.

Too bad, just like there were fools that wanted to trade him before Phil Jackson arrived, there will be imbeciles again seeking NOW to trade him because of his perceived new founded value as "trade bait!" Over a year ago I said Shumpert would be the Knicks future captain and that wasn't "wishful thinking", and with Shumpert at the point next season in a system offense with the right coach (professional, and respected with championship rings cache), the Knicks with a returning Carmelo will win in the neighborhood of 60 wins guaranteed!

@OLDKNICK  great post! Couldnt agree more on Shump.

After the trade rumors started really picking up you saw Shumps game take hit. I felt like he really wants to stay a Knick and that hurt his play.

@OLDKNICK  Boy, that would turn the stomach of this blog if Melo wound up on GS after all the Kerr drama. Then again, all that call him a "Coach Killer" would be ecstatic. SMH.

The article actually say that a player "like" Melo could be Plan B, if they don't get Kevin Love. I doubt Melo goes to GSW or that they pursue him.

@KnickelusKnickleby They've won the draft lottery 3 out of the last 4yrs which is insane especially when they haven't had the best odds every yr either

I would take back Perkins if it would get the Knicks Perry Jones and a 1st round pick. Perry Jones is still just 22 years old and at 6-11" he could be the Knicks PF of the furure.

Didn't I say just a half hour ago that, and I quote,

Must I be proven right every time I come to this blog?

@kingofny @Sandro Guedes  No way Stat is walking away from 20 mil or whatever he's scheduled to get paid. It would be nice though and I'm actually a Stat fan lol.

@Sandro Guedes @Frank Monastra

Hard to see GSW giving up Lee for another two guard. Bogut has health issues and Lee will be a great fit in a system offense.   They already have Thompson at the two.

I'd assume they would try to package Lee for Love.

HypoCrit_calNYKfans

@kingofny

Why would he, Westbrook is not a superior player to Carmelo, especially on the offensive side of the court!

Frank Monastra
Frank Monastra

@Knicks_Fanatic @Sandro Guedes @Frank Monastra  Melo a 2 guard?

GSW will have Ezeli back next season to go with Speights and maybe O Neal, and Melo and Green both play some PF, and they have another young C on the roster to go with Bogut

there not going to be able to trade for Love unless they give up Thompson which they wont

HypoCrit_calNYKfans
HypoCrit_calNYKfans

@kingofny

I would like a starting 5 of

Shumpert,

JR Smith,

Carmelo,

Odom (clean, healthy, and in shape), and

 Gasol.

Other power forwards in the rotation: free agent signings of Eric Murphy/Jack Cooley, along with Tyler!

HypoCrit_calNYKfans

@kingofny

We shall see, If Phil can find a way to get Pau Gasol here to play the 5 and with a solid rebounding pf, the Knicks would be legit challengers for a chip!

@KnickelusKnickleby I'd maybe have more of an inclination to even consider that if it wasn't Cle. What sports league in their right mind would ever go out of their way and risk potentially harming the sport to rig something for Cle of all places?
