Knicks May Soon Face Another Amar’e Dilemma

BOSTON — The Knicks may soon face another Amar’e dilemma.

With New York on the brink of a sweep of the Boston Celtics in their first-round playoff series, Stoudemire is expected to return from knee surgery for a second time this season — this time for a potential second-round date with Indiana or Atlanta.

“‘He’s gonna play, absolutely, yes…He’s a big piece to our puzzle,” Knicks coach Mike Woodson said here Saturday, one day before the Knicks look to sweep the Celtics in Game 4 at TD Garden.

This game basically determines whether there's a Hart race. If the Isles look competitive, Ovy has it locked up. If they look as bad as they could without Tavares, there's still a race.

I know there is a debate over Nelson/Strome tonight, but to me, at this stage, neither is a perfect candidate. It shows that even in a "rebuild" you need a few key vets to fill gaps and take pressure off the kids. We lose Viz and we get about 7 minutes a game too much from guys like AMac who by the way should be nowhere ner the 1st PP, but he just jumps in by default. Oh well the die has been cast. Keep the fingers crossed.

My guess is that It's JT's hip!

I really, really like Brock, but Isn't Strome a 1st line center? What better time to ck it out? Of course this coaching staff just has 0 sense when it comes to utilizing our players properly, so I am not surprised.

thanks refs. maybe if they opened there eyes and protected the players from cheap shots (calling penalties and game misconduts) there would be less injuries. how many injuries need to happen major or minor before the league steps in to actully do something.

And the WWE-Refs that the NHL employs, continues to miss the cheap shots that shorten the careers of  many of it's greatest players from Orr to Bossy to Lemieux and now it's open season on the likes of Crosby and Tarvares .

It boggles my mind why doesn't the NHL does it's best players?

Boycott, stage protests, or for people who do actually still hoof it to see this dreck, just start chanting,

"SELL THE TEAM, CHARLES, SELL THE TEAM!!!!" RIGHT FROM THE OPENING DROP OF THE PUCK!

Don't wait until a TV timeout or until it's late in the game and they're blowing another lead. Do it all night long!!!!

Send a message the media can't ignore.

This message is a general one. I'd post it regardless of whether JT would be in the lineup or not.

The Islanders were going to lose tonight. Now they'll just lose worse.

Isles play Gudas and the Lightning again on January 17th.  Message needs to be made loud and clear in that game. Similar to isles/pens a few years back.

Put bailey on the first line I can guarantee you he will succeed he needs to be "that" guy for him to do well. Nelson hasn't shown much if anything lately. Bailey was good last year when the team relied on his line and he was really good couple years back when he started as the first line center early in the season when Tavares was hurt.

I know this is off topic. Anybody watching Jrs championships . .Canada vs Czech. The Czech player just threw the Ref to the ground to get at the team Canada player.

Upside: Cory Schneider is starting for my fantasy team. Here's hoping we win 1-0 in a shootout.

I think it was the Gudas hit that caused this.  Hopefully he is better soon.

@erika strome has not yet proved him self in the nhl would i have an issue with him as number 1 center tonight no..... do i have an issue with him not being there tonight no i do not. nelson has more experiance in the nhl and wasnt he a number 1 center for bridgeport last season?

@Zee Executioner Looks like it's going to be a sellout tonight Zee judging by what's on stubhub, no bargains for tonight's game.

@Jason ZimmermannI think you do these posts for attention.    I've asked before but you haven't answered.  Why do you bother if the team causes you so much negativity?

Bailey's lost...should try tennis

Isleguy27

@truth77I was watching the game, and I don't mean to start an argument with you, but he really didn't shove him that hard, and he was trying to get at the Canadian player. The officials agreed, he did not intentionally try to drop the official. What sucks more, is that the Canadian boys lost in a shoot-out.

Joey Ferguson
Joey Ferguson

@truth77 maybe thats what someone on this team needs to do.... let the refs know you will go at them if they dont make calls on cheap hits. lol.... no didnt see it wish i did see it i probably would have laughed my ss off

@orange2327

The guy who thinks he earns his pay by stick checking his way through another season.

Show some confidence in the kid we all know what he can do when he gets the confidence. Its not his fault the team shattered his psyche.

@Chris R @orange2327 Oh yea because giving a guy with a half dozen games of NHL experience makes tons of sense and only at most 50-60 professional games under his belt(AHL-NHL) to get that unlike a guy like Nelson who has shown he deserves it more.

Isleguy27
Isleguy27

@Chris R@orange2327Do you two guys ever have anything positive to say. What the heck is wrong with giving Brock Nelson a shot on the first line? Isn't Strome a #1 center...not in the NHL he's not. Not yet anyway.

Isleguy27

@tag1@Zee ExecutionerHa...that's funny! I'm sure chanting "sell the team" at a hockey game will encourage a billionaire owner to sell. Thanks for the holiday cheer Zee.

@mitchfritz@Sam Sam

Yes that's the one.  I think we need Clutterbuck on that top line when Tavares comes back for added protection.

@dkdk I wish I could say, "I don't get it" - but in all reality, the publicity of the draft, the opinion based columns, and the forecasting of scouts' opinions heavily influences the opinions of fans. Really, it doesn't take much to realize that a player is completely out of place, but when reading all that fluff, the fans want to believe what they read is true, and what they see is not reality. It's not a mirage folks, Bailey sucks!

dkdk
dkdk

Right there with ya Jason. I am also curious when people want to reward his lack of effort by promoting him to the first line.

Jason Zimmermann
Jason Zimmermann

@dkdk He's like the kid on the high school team who only made it because his Dad sucked up to the coach. They guy was NEVER good! See DiPietro. Horrible drafting!

dkdk
dkdk

It is hard for me to be nice when it comes to Bailey. The fans gave him more rope than a cruise ship at port and forget about production which is non existent, do we even get to see him hustle?

Jason Zimmermann
Jason Zimmermann

@dkdk My comment was blocked. Let's just say that your criticism of Bailey is a little bit nicer than mine.

Sorry but he is awful and barely puts out any effort ever

@orange2327 Hate to break the news, but Nino hasn't exactly lit it up so far this year.  It's funny because he gets top 6 minutes and first PP minutes and yet still isn't even outscoring Cal by all that much.

dkdk

Why do people feel it necessary to decide who can and can't be a fan? Personally I believe those complaining about the team (read, ownership and lack of mgmt) are at least trying to get some improvement. Thiose sitting around talking about every prospect like they are hall of famers and accepting the yearly floor circumvention hurt as much as anything else.

@tag1. Completely agreed. As much as we disagree with the off ice stuff we trend to see the same thing with the on ice

tag1

@isles23 Fair enough Matt, originally I was responding to the guy who wanted to put Clutterbuck with Tavares to "protect" Tavares and my point was he is not that type of player.

isles23
isles23

@tag1. I think you misunderstood what I am saying here. I agree with you. Clutterbuck is not a fighter and I don't see him as a protector. He is a hard hitting agitator that is an outstanding penalty killer. Every time I've head Howie say he should be put up with JT i shake my head. When Cal is on his game, which he has been lately, he is taking other players off of theirs by making them think about him.

tag1
tag1

@isles23 BTW a ton of injuries around the NHL, a lot of teams have been hit a lot harder than the Isles when it comes to injuries.

tag1
tag1

@isles23 Matt he doesn't intimidate anyone, he's small and he's a yapper that doesn't drop the gloves and he is not a enforcer and I've yet to see him knock anyone out of a game yet. How many fights has he had this season? ZERO? I think he was over-hyped as a physical presence IMO. How does yapping at the opposition help protect Tavares? You want to send a message send Tavares out there with Boulton and Martin and let the chips fall where they will and by sending that line out there I'm not looking for goals.

isles23
isles23

@tag1. Clutterbuck may not be big but hits like a sledgehammer. That being said I don't want him on the top line either. I want him in the role he has excelled at lately. A 3rd line banger, agitator, and top penalty killer. The role he was brought in to play because I don't see it as a coincidence that our pk has been better since he has been made a part of it.

tag1
tag1

@Sam Sam Clutterbuck hahahaha he can't protect himself he's going to protect Tavares. The guy is small and won't drop the gloves, he's not going to be anyone's bodyguard, Okposo is quicker to drop the gloves compared to Clutterbuck.
