Knicks pay $9 million to J.R. Smith up front?

The Knicks paid $9 million of what is owed to J.R. Smith over the next two years up front, according to Mark Deeks of Sham Sports.

Smith is owed $11.5 million over the first two seasons of his new contract with the Knicks, but according to Deeks, they paid him nearly 80 percent of his contract up front.
