Ian Begley of ESPN-NY is sourcing a note which notes that the Knicks are very interested in adding Metta World Peace to the roster. MWP was amnestied by the Lakers last night.
“World Peace, according to a league source familiar with his thinking, would welcome the opportunity to sign with the Knicks,” Begley writes. “Both his father and a longtime friend, Jose Morales, have also been quoted as saying World Peace would like to return to New York. ‘Let’s hope he’ll be able to come home,’ World Peace’s father, Ron Artest Sr., told ESPNNewYork.com’s Jared Zwerling.”
“My gut say’s he’ll be a Knick,” Artest Sr. told SNY’s Adam Zagoria.
Tommy DeeI welcome this move with open arms. Artest turns 34 in November and still has plenty to offer a very competitive team. His toughness on the perimeter is a huge need for the Knicks, and his ability to knock down some big shots is also a very big need to fill. He’s not a great shooter, but he’s proven he can score in many ways.
MWP was once considered one of the best two-way players in the league and in my opinion, when he was at his best, he was the best two-way forward since Scottie Pippen.
Obviously, MWP has had his issues and I think that’s going to be a problem at some point, but he wants to be here and wear the uniform and I think Mike Woodson is up for the challenge.
