Knicks’ Schedule Announced for NBA Summer League

Keith Schlosser

The NBA announced its full schedule for Summer League in Las Vegas next month, while also revealing that the Knicks will tip off the entire session by taking on the Dallas Mavericks on July 11th. See below for the team’s schedule.

Friday July 11

COX Pavilion

1 PM – New York vs. Dallas* (Game 1)

Saturday July 12

COX Pavilion

1 PM – Portland  vs. New York* (Game 7)

Monday July 14

COX Pavilion

1 PM – New York vs. Charlotte* (Game 23)

For the second consecutive year, Summer League will feature a tournament-style schedule, allowing each participating team to play three games leading up to July 15th. From there on out, squads will be seeded and the rest of the schedule will follow accordingly, though each team will play at least two more games regardless.

Last season, both Toure Murry and Jeremy Tyler hoped to impress Knicks’ brass by strutting their stuff in Las Vegas, and subsequently succeeded. Iman Shumpert and Tim Hardaway Jr. also participated briefly as well.

Currently with no draft picks to speak of, Summer League will likely be an invaluable setting for New York to seek out potential diamonds in the rough heading into next season.

WOJO EXPOSED???  Remember he's the ne who put the Phil after KD aggressively in 2016....

Julius Randle’s Godfather says the former Kentucky star does not need foot surgery. “No, he’s not having no surgery,” Jeff Webster told SNY.tv Thursday by phone. “There ain’t nothing wrong with his foot. “It’s 100 percent false - See more at:

It's fascinating how Tyson needs to get a jumper, STAT needs to pass more, Shump needs to learn how to shoot, Thjr needs to become a defender, JR needs to change, Dolan needs to shut up, etc. BUT....

Melo needs to change NOTHING about his game because it's perfect.

Even the great ones MJ, Lebron, Kobe improved or altered their games to win. Don't get me wrong we need him, but he has to alter some things as well.

@rgm891  imo like I have been saying all along melo opts out takes the paycut and lets phil gets him to the next level. he already is a hated guy if he goes to Miami he would be hated more then the big three put together

@orlando_knickfan Who's ever said that Melo's perfect?

Even though he did far more than anyone expected last season and had career highs accross the board, a player can always work more on his game.

His D, his patience while posting up, his shot selection in specific circumstances (though this is something most high volume shooters go through), even though he reads the double very well, he needs to understand which player is in better position to score and who the better player is to receive the ball (a kick out to Timmy in the perimeter gets you a better chance at a bucket than a pass to Felton).

By no means is Melo perfect, but he's by far the best player this team's had in a long time and by far the player that hustled and played the hardest last season.

@orlando_knickfan  like what ... getting the team involved? cuz I thought he became a way better defender and rebounder then he did in Denver .... but tell us who he is going to get involved stat? shump? jr? CHANDLER?

@thatsagoodpoint @MeloStat301  Dude, you cant fake foot surgery LOL...he would be limping around or in a boot ect...its not something you can hide.

What is he gonna do...hide out until the draft?

Over 5 years Carmelo could earn an average salary of almost 30 million, so how much of a pay cut do you suppose he will take?

@thatsagoodpoint @rgm891 I personally dont think Melo is gunna go to Miami.  Just doesnt seem in his personality but who knows.  Interesting is the best way to describe it.

@VerySilentJay Not going to disagree with one thing you said.  All I will say is that you cannot summarily dismiss his shortcomings while trashing everyone else's.  His faults are just as important as the next.

orlando_knickfan

@theking Start with on the court leadership.  Hate to tell ya, Kobe trusted guys like Blake  to hit shots. Even Bron trusted Cole as a rookie.

I have 0 problems with his rebounding, but his laziness at times on D and not getting back because of complaining is tiresome.

@HypoCrit_calNYKfans @theking  me idk. I don't think he will take less then 18 though .. I think that is a good number for a player of his caliber that wants to win.

theking

@thatsagoodpoint  yes he does. as he told bargs when he first came to new York to just play his game the criticism and pressure would be on him. im sure he knows what the media and fans say about him as does lebron

VerySilentJay

@orlando_knickfan @VerySilentJay Like I said, I'm not seeing anyone calling Melo the "perfect" player.

Not at all.

On the contrary, his D is something constantly being mentioned here and the ability of being more vocal is also something consistently being asked of him, even from Melo's strongest advocates here at TKB.

That said, you just cannot place Melo in the same sentence as Shump, JR, Chandler, Amare, et al.

All these need to put in a sh!tload of work and they need to be humble and accept where they need to improve.

Melo's the lone player that carried the team all season long, and while he can obviously work on many aspects of his game, the players mentioned above are in serious needs of work and cannot be placed even remotely close to Melo.

By sheer impact alone, Melo's on a different stratosphere.

@orlando_knickfan @VerySilentJay  his arguing with refs did not make us lose but I can tell you what messed up the season. our starting pg who was ranked 32 out of 30 starters being that there is a backup better then him .. our sg that averages 6 ppg

pf making the most money and cant stay healthy

center who can only catch lobs and at times quit on the team .. yea melo should get back and not argue with the refs but dam near every star does that minus the spurs team

@orlando_knickfan  LeBron always passes and if you think kobe is passing to blake when the game is on the line ... well this convo is over.

and laziness on defense watch tonights game and watch how the great defender LeBron also plays lazy defense

@orlando_knickfan @theking He is only killing the players confidence with not getting them involved. Play as a team lose as a team. I rather Jr Smith shoot a wide open three ball over Melo shooting retarted contested isolation shots.  Hero ball is a no go.

- Favorites: Brazil (because they're the home team), Germany, Spain,.

- Surprise: Belguim. Hell of a team. At every line they got a top 10 player.

- I'm rooting for Chile, because that's where my family's from and that's where I've spent a long time (right now working here as well). Their group is tough as nails, se we'll see how that works out.

- Also because it's my second home, I hope the US can show some good play, but I just don't see them making a strong difference without having impact players and because they got handed a tough group.

I'm eager to see who the most disappointing team will be.

orlando_knickfan

@theking Every star gets the last shot, but it's how you play the game up till that point.

I remember at least 3-4 times year before last where melo took a long stupid 3 while Novak, league leading 3 point shooter, was wide open.

This was way before an end game situation.

@HypoCrit_calNYKfans @theking  im not letting go of 500!! lol but im sure he understands that taking the max wont allow them to put better pieces around him ... what ppl don't get is that they telling him to take less but they know if their job asked them if they would take less they know they would say no in a heart beat regardless of how much they have saved up

@VerySilentJay @rgm891 @thatsagoodpoint Great analysis man. I'm going to root for Chile on top of Italy and US just because of this post!  They will be my third team.  I personally believe Spain isn't going to go as far as people think.  Who even knows with Argentina.  But I agree with Germany and Brasil as favorites. Dont know much about Belgium gotta keep an eye out.

theking

@orlando_knickfan  its hindsight bro. you cant look at it like that because every player in every game is gonna make a mistake ... as great as LeBron is made out to be by yall he is not perfect at all

@thatsagoodpoint

Your right, I don't know what I was thinking about with the figure of 30 mil. a year. But if Carmelo sign with the Knicks 8 million less-40 million for the life of the contract is still steep especially if Houston could give him 24 million a year, and Miami about 15-17 per year!

HypoCrit_calNYKfans
HypoCrit_calNYKfans

@theking

Those who suggest that Carmelo should take less are hypocrite if they wouldn't do it themselves. And you can bet Carmelo's agents who only have his best interest at heart will not accept anything less than an average of around 24-26 million!

VerySilentJay

@thatsagoodpoint @VerySilentJay Hey, you're welcome to your own pov, and like I said, I respect it, but making assumptions about people you don't know leads usually to wrong conclusions, which is your case. Even less need for insults.

Check out the numbers and you'll see that soccer is the most watched sport throughout the world. Always, not only for the world cup (which is only every 4 years).

I grew up with soccer because my parents are from South America, and that vast, vast, vast majority still watch soccer after the world cup because all the big leagues around the world resume activity and the big tournaments start.

3 billion fans around the world on a yearly basis hardly stand for "fraudulent fans", imo.

Like I said, I meant no disrespect, yet you felt the need to insult making wild assumptions.

@rgm891 @VerySilentJay @thatsagoodpoint It'll be interesting to see Italy. Younger players are coming in and there's also a lot of experience there and they're trying to practice a different style of soccer (they've historically been known as a defensive minded team that plays counter attacking soccer and now they're trying to play a more possession based style, which is very new for Italy).

Eager to see that as well.
