Knicks would not want Carlos Boozer in possible sign-and-trade

The Knicks have no interest in receiving Carlos Boozer from the Bulls as part of a hypothetical sign-and-trade if Chicago lands free agent Carmelo Anthony (ESPN, July 2).

Chicago would try to unload Boozer instead of granting amnesty to him and his $16.8 million salary. Should the Bulls grant Boozer amnesty, it would be difficult for them to offer Anthony anything close to the $22.4 million the Knicks can offer him next season.

If Chicago amnesties Boozer, they can offer to start Anthony at $17 million, provided they also trade Mike Dunleavy and Jimmy Butler.

they should take any and every expiring contract they can handle in any sign and trade for Melo...unless they really think they can lure some FA's WITHOUT Carmelo, who cares if you got Boozer for one year or not? The key here is next off season IFFFFF Melo winds up wanting to leave NY...

unfortunately, as we all know, free agency aint no sure thing...but it helps to have new mgmt, a guy wiht a billion rings running the show, and over 40 mil in cap space if indeed it comes to be Melo bounces...

Why take on salary and a malcontent big when you don't have to?
