Lakers interested in Carmelo Anthony?

Carmelo Anthony won’t become an unrestricted free agent until 2014 at the earliest, but the LA Lakers are already eyeing him as a possible addition, according to a report from ESPN.

According to the report, Anthony’s plans for next summer are unclear, but a source told ESPN that it would “make sense” for him to use the early-termination choice that is allowed in his contract. From there, he could theoretically sign a longer-term contract that the Lakers (or anyone else) may be willing to give him.

The Lakers are also reportedly interested in LeBron James, who is set to become a free agent the same year as Anthony.
