According to Capuano: Strome will not be tonight line up against PHX

I guess he wants him to practice with the team first (make sense), but I was really excited to see him play.

Are we going to see him play against the Canadiens?

Best of luck Ryan on what I hope will be a long career with many all star appearances.

Reunite Okposo Nielsen Bailey, why in the world has this not happened. Put Strome on the first line they need a playmaker on that line.

Wish him luck but if this organization thinks he's going to stop this recurring nightmare  well........

As excited as I am to see Ryan strome the isles have mishandled/underestimated/overestimated/screwed the pooch with their young players!! Moving forward as a franchise strome must be a productive player who contributes NHL level goals and assist to justify him as a top six guy!! Since I do not think vanek will sign here he has to be the real deal!, good luck Ryan!!

Good luck.

Try him on the first 3 lines, see who he has the best chemistry with and take it from there. Can he play left wing or is he center/right wing?

Put Strome with JT and Vanek and see if Okposo can wake up that dead piece of crap named Bailey on the 2nd line.

Hope this isn't the case with Strome but Cappy normally sits the recent call ups until they have some practices with the team under their belt.

Should be on 2nd line. Move Bailey to the 4th line or some other out of the way place.

Great news as long as they don't give him 4th line minutes, scratch him alot and at the end of the year trade him to Detroit for Jordin Tootoo and a 3rd round draft pick.

i would leave the first line as is, they seem to be the lone bright spot of late, I would really like Bailey and Grabner to sit But thats unlikely so just drop them to 3rd line minutes, Frans minutes suffers from being associated with those two.. and my dream would be a second line of Nelson on a wing, Strome at center and clutter on the other wing to make sure teams don't take liberties.

Line Time:

Either 3rd line centering Nelson and Clutterbuck; or 2nd line and move Grabner to 3rd line. Either way, McD and Boulton take turns sitting.

I kinda of like the 3rd line since he and Nelson have played a lot together. I also like the idea of telling Grabner to "$hit or get off the pot". But I'd try both combos and see what seems to work.

Let the Strome Era begin. Very gifted player that has torn up every league he's played in so far.  I hope to see him with JT on the top 10 scoring list in the near future.

It will be of great interest where, and how much, they play him.

Hopefully Nelson is anchored as the third line center, making Regin the healthy scratch.

I'd suspect, based on how the team used Nelson(too many scratches) that Strome starts out on the wing, but is scratched for a few games. Strome looks like he put about 10 pounds on between this season and last, probably needs another 10-20 pounds to get up to NHL playing size. but that takes time.

If he is 4th lined or sitting in the box, this move is pointless.

Wish the kid well...we need to get 2nd & 3rd lines in the box score.

Strome time baby.  I am very curious to see how this team comes out tomorrow.  Tomorrow's game will either show we still got a long way to go or maybe that there is still some hope left for this season.  Also very happy Strome is coming into a happier environment after a big weight and losing streak was lifted off their shoulders.  Either way Strome on the big club(lets hope cappy isn't a total moron when pairing him either on the 2nd line to hopefully wake up Bailey and Nielson or on the 3rd line so he can play with Nelson who has a little familiarity with and finally sits colin mcdonald who is getting WAY TO MUCH ICE TIME

but for real, this is a step in the right direction.

@Brian Clampett Vanek and JT are both playmakers too.  They are just fine.  Strome should be on 2nd/3rd line.  Optimistically, he will be able to set up some slam dunks for Bailey and/or Grabner to get them off the schnide.

Joey Ferguson
Joey Ferguson

@Brian Clampett that or move vanek down a line and. and grabs down a line and clutterbuck down a line. then sit mcdonald.

@jmoney93

<<and my dream would be a second line of Nelson on a wing, Strome at center and clutter on the other wing>>

That's exactly what I proposed for 3rd line. I'd leave 2nd as is I think, but maybe try swapping Grabner for Strome.

While I think Strome won’t help us win games, since he isn’t a defensemen….

Strome should not be placed at wing. Keep him at center where he's been excelling (AHL). With that being said, move Nielson down to 3rd line - thats where he belongs. But don't get me wrong, he’s a great 3rd liner. I just hope Strome doesn't get placed on 4th line, we all know how that will turn out, lol. (i.e, Nino).

I see the forward lines as follows:

Vanek-Tavares-Okposo

Grabner-Strome-Bailey

Clutterbuck-Nielson-Nelson

Martin-Cizikas-McDonald

@rmreturns – I am waiting for a response on the last conversation we had on “Bouchard cleared waivers; Strome on Wednesday” thread.

@rmreturns How big do you want him to be...? Gee whiz... How big do you think Marty St. Louis is?  He's listed at 6'1" 188 and that's 2 years ago.  He's probably closer to 195 now.

Don22
Don22

@Donald Yacona Do you mean given a chance to play with the club and play uninspired hockey because he wasn't automatically put in on the 1st line?  Nino was not the player you think he is.  Take a look at his stats in MN.  He is playing 2nd line minutes on a better team and still only has 15 points.  Nino has done nothing since being drafted about 5-8 spots higher than he should have.

Why break up vanek/JT/KO now!! We were all begging for these guys to click on somelevel they are let's see were this goes.

Clutter on a second line?? Not buying it!!

grand_puba

@puckdad99 @jmoney93 Definitely agree the 1st line has to be left as is for the time being, that actually sounds like an interesting 2nd line, and it would reunite Nelson and Strome. Seeing how things have gone around here, I wouldn't be surprised if those three are together, but have to go with jmoney and say they'll be getting 3rd line minutes and match ups instead.

rmreturns
rmreturns

@doc942 @rmreturns just want him to be able to withstand the size of NHL defenders along the walls. JT got knocked around a bunch his first season. it was a long time ago, but he got knocked down a bunch.

please don't misunderstand, not a criticism. i want Strome to be a tremendous hockey player, and hopefully a dominate second line center..Tavarves, Strome and Nelson- oh the wrongs this franchise could right with those three up the middle, but NHL defenders are big bodies compared to the 40 games in played in the AHL.
