Harris DeckerI believe above all else, that New York is a special place to live. We just do things differently. We walk faster, talk louder and are passionate about everything from food to sports. More than once, New York Mets great Ron Darling has said that winning in New York is special. It endears you to the people of this city for life and puts you into a special club. It is with that love for everything that makes New York great, that I am proud to introduce myself to you.
My first memory of basketball came in 1999 on a class trip to a nature retreat (I was in 5th grade at the time). Without any signs of modern technology within 30 miles, my entire class huddled around an AM radio, hours past our bedtime. We managed to stay up just long enough to hear Larry Johnson hit a now well known 3-pointer as he was fouled by Antonio Davis. That 4-point play is still as clear in my mind as any sports memory.
There will always be people out there that know more than me about basketball. I don’t claim to know it all. What I am is a passionate fan. I bleed Knicks (and Mets) orange and blue and live for the moment that I get to see my team hoist the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy to the rafters of Madison Square Garden. I am looking forward to beginning this journey as the Lead Writer of The Knicks Blog and can’t wait to interact with this site’s dedicated fans.
