Phil Jackson gives update on head coach search

Phil Jackson spoke to the media on Friday afternoon to update and shed some light on the head coach search >>

Jackson has interviewed some “unnamed” candidates, but has not yet spoken to Derek Fisher or Brian Shaw (Iannazzone, May 30).

The next coach will “understand the direction” Jackson is “trying to create” (Isola).

Jackson said he would like to have a history with the coach he hires, which would seem to eliminate Mark Jacskon (Isola).

A coach from the college ranks could be considered (Cacciola).

As far as coaching the team himself, Jackson said it’s something he’s interested in but that he can’t handle it physically (Iannazzone).

Good to see Phil supporting MSG and the rangers. And keeping the information flowing.

I dint think Mark Jackson has been completely excluded from the search process.

Phils words about melo were predictable. It's clear Phil wants melo and would prefer he opt in this year.

According to CBS, Phil asked Melo to opt in, to which Melo said "he'll think about it"

I like how Boston signed Stevens out if left field last year. If no Fisher, I'm fine with that!! No Leu , Rambis or Cartwright

The Mark Jackson fans can finally be put to rest. It is going to be someone Phil knows, and more than likely someone with no coaching experience.

If he leaves New York, he can never come back. Not even to visit lol. He would get booed everywhere he went, wouldnt he? By NY standards he's considered a traitor, right? Im just saying...

@Sandro Guedes Again all of the guys you mentioned have major flaws + no rings, what is actually the loss of not bringing in a retread

He said he would PREFER someone he's worked with before.. As anyone would

Depends on how he goes about it. Honestly I don't think most fans would blame him. He'd be booed, but Lebron leaving Cleveland

More nonsense from the hater.

Agreed but it allows him to essentially choose his teammates next year.

If I were him there would be no way if opt in but in regards to building a big three it'd make sense

@Sandro Guedes I like Hoiberg as well... I mentioned Laimbeer way back, while WoodRow was still at the helm... Great choice on your part... Defensive toughness and he won in NBA and coaching WNBA....

@Mike Dassinger Not directly but Lambo was on  Rambis` staff so he saw the teaching of it, and certainly would bring a level of (toughness, hostility evil ) to the team
