Phil to Talk With Kerr ‘Sooner Than Later’

Adam Zagoria, Team Reporter

Knicks President Phil Jackson is expected to talk soon with Steve Kerr about becoming the next coach of the Knicks.

“I do think the two of them will talk sooner than later, but there’s really not much I can say on the record about that,” Kerr’s agent, Mike Tanenbaum, the former Jets GM, told SNY.tv and The Knicks Blog.

Jackson also said he planned to speak with Kerr, who appears to be his No. 1 priority to replace the fired Mike Woodson.

“We meet [in] very similar space about coaching in a lot of ways,” Jackson said this week. “I know philosophically we have a strong connection. Whether he’s able to take a job like this, I don’t know. I’ll get in the conversation with him later on this month and talk to him about it, and see where he’s at as far as his desire to coach.”

Kerr is in New York this weekend broadcasting the Raptors-Nets playoffs series for TNT.

The only Real P.G the Thunder have is Fisher but he can't play the type of minutes that would help them win a Championship.

Westbrook is a 2guard at best same with Jackson, very inconsistent with getting their teammates involved that def won't help winning it all

7-game series but margin for error has been so small in these competitive 1st-round matchups... unreal.

The best fight is on Showtime - Matthyssee and Molina!  Fight of the year maybe. They are in the 10th round now.

I am fine with Kerr. Get it done n get the staff hired. Let's get rolling......

It would be great if okc gets knocked out by Memphis so they will be more willing to trade for Tyson.

Move Tyson n whomever else they want except for Timmy n shump for a pick and/or Reggie Jackson.

Try to trade the usual guys like stat, bargs, jr for whatever you can get.

Use the 3 mil for a pg......Vasquez or collison.

Man, I thought Dolan was a bad owner until I heard Donald Sterlings comments regarding African Americans.... He needs to be forced to sell or something!

Thank you for posting SOMETHING here today Adam, truly, but that is old news, no news and not opinion. It's kind of like thinking about adjusting your slacks, while you're in your pajamas.

It's over Matthysse wins in 12 round by knockout!  Mayweather and Madonna better be at least 1/4 as good as this fight next week or I'm requesting my money back. I would have easily paid for this fight on PPV.

Why do you say that (pertaining to your comment about Kerr)?

@ Mel Brown. As owners we can compare them.... Not about what races they like

Then why does it have his by-line?

@carl hill  Why doesn't Miami count?  Isn't it a similar situation with Riley and Spoelstra?  Phil would be Kerr's mentor and behind the scenes making sure he's making the right decisions.

@carl hill @knickfan2  Read 11 Rings.  MJ didn't knock his ass out.  Kerr stepped up to MJ in a practice and got in a fight with him bc MJ didn't trust him and wouldn't pass him the ball in key situations.  Kerr got pissed and they got in a fight.  After that incident, Jordan had immense respect for Kerr.

Okay, I was just curious. For different reasons, I'm not too keen on him, myself. But, I am open to new blood so to speak. I'm tired of seeing the same hired then fired, hired then fired recycled coaches still coaching in the NBA.
