Knicks President Phil Jackson is expected to talk soon with Steve Kerr about becoming the next coach of the Knicks.
“I do think the two of them will talk sooner than later, but there’s really not much I can say on the record about that,” Kerr’s agent, Mike Tanenbaum, the former Jets GM, told SNY.tv and The Knicks Blog.
Jackson also said he planned to speak with Kerr, who appears to be his No. 1 priority to replace the fired Mike Woodson.
“We meet [in] very similar space about coaching in a lot of ways,” Jackson said this week. “I know philosophically we have a strong connection. Whether he’s able to take a job like this, I don’t know. I’ll get in the conversation with him later on this month and talk to him about it, and see where he’s at as far as his desire to coach.”
Kerr is in New York this weekend broadcasting the Raptors-Nets playoffs series for TNT.
