Hopefully JR, who has been playing well lately, can play like a professional this afternoon. Also, hope Tyson can play the way he was recently before being out due to personal reasons. Also, hope Amar'e can stay healthy. The Knicks can't afford to lose this game today.

Atlanta won their last 2 but are still a terrible team. If the Knicks can handle their business, the standings will work itself out and the Knicks will have the 8th seed. It's time for this team to finish the season strong. Time for the talent on this team to show, step up and play some inspired ball the rest of the way.

It's time for the return of #knickstape

Btw, I want Indiana in the 1st round.

What happens when the Knicks and Lakers are chasing the same free agent?  You have Jax as Knicks team president; and his fiancée's family running the Lakers (with his fiancée as president of business operations for LA).  Should make for some interesting suppertime conversation in the Jackson household during the summer.

Lenny Wilkins, Larry Brown, Mike D'Antonni, Jeff VanGundy, Donnie Walsh...............   There are Hall of Fame guys on that list...WINNERS....guys who did it BEFORE....and AFTER.......   The problem has NOT been a lack of Visionary Basketball Guys

I wished for Phil Jackson 20 years ago...10 years ago... NOW?

I remember when I said there was no way Phil Jack didnt speak to NYK when he stated his reasons for not not taking the job. Ppl said I was buggin out but it was clear to me that he did speak to someone......Realgm reports theyve been speaking back n forth for several months.....Maybe some of u dudes should learn how to read context clues instead of reading verbatim

@Dullah Da Kidd  Be a man and respond to my post if you have a problem with what I said. There is nothing wrong with wanting to play the best. Nobody said the Knicks were beating Indy. I just feel they can give them a better series then they did last year.

Luckily it's Milwaukee in full tank mode. They are basically handing out minutes equally at this point. Melo, Chandler and the 5 earliest guys to the arena should be enough today.

@Eric Raffle None of those guys have 13 rings.  Jackson brings both a credibility and a pedigree of success to this franchise that very few can.

@OLDKNICK  Dude's had zero impact on New York. He's probably just pissed that Collins jerseys outsell his.

@OLDKNICK  F'k Pierce. If I didn't like Kidd, I'd wish they had no success ever.

Pierce sounds like a scared man.

I can't say really good chance, I'd say they went from no chance to a glimmer of hope. First thing to keep an eye on is what Lebron does this summer, if he opts in for 1 more year then chances increase. However once he opts out it's over.

@Armand N Berdynaj ............winnning 1 ring in NYC is equivalent to winning 3 in Miami ...........high risk HUGE reward !

@zebeto

LeBron and Melo play the same position.

If we can land LeBron, we're better off giving Melo's money to Love, Aldridge or Rondo.

I like the idea of Kerr, Kidd and Jackson didn't have coaching experience either, they are both smart as is Kerr, plus Kerr knows the triangle. However, I think Kerr might become the new gm and not the coach.

1harris1
1harris1

My concern with him isn't about his basketball knowledge. It's about whether he has the right personality for the everyday NY scene. I think he'd be a good fit working under Jackson as a GM, doing a lot of Phil's grunt work (where he wouldn't be as visible). But it sounds like he's intent on getting into coaching. He seems like an intelligent guy. It's just a question as to whether he has the right makeup to lead a team in a tough environment.

Kvdaone
Kvdaone

@brookdon He does have zero coaching experience but he did have 2 of the best mentors to come up under. Phil Jack and Greg Pop. I dont think you can deny that fact. If Phil can make the right adjustments, I believe Kerr could get crazy here. Thats a lil Phil n Pop roled into one

@brookdon

I have mixed feelings.  He has zero coaching experience at any level, right? Hopefully Kerr has the self-awareness to realize his limitations and hire some knowledgeable assistants to help ease his transition and fill the gaps.

What I do find promising is the potential for a long-term vision that is unified across the President, GM, and Coach.

@SheSaidSpikeWho

Tired of hearing Kevin Love's name from so many Knick fans...a great offensive player and all, but Melo desperately needs some solid, reliable 2-way players more than he needs another 1-way PF...luckily we now have some wisdom in the front office that will evaluate everything with an eye towards building a TEAM and not just a trio of "names".

Mills why did I ever doubt you...oh yeah Isiah.

@Elvis Maduro  well Dolan wanted Phil here for a reason, and Dolan knows Phil doesn't take crap from nobody. I don't think he'll screw this up.

Indiana is playing poorly right now, but the only reason anyone should want to play Indiana is because it would mean the Knicks avoided the misery of missing the playoffs. No lottery pick for Denver. Just for the sake of debate, what have the 26-40 Knicks done to make you feel they'd play the Pacers better this year than the 54 win Knicks? I'm not sure what you have been watching all season that I have been missing?

NoVaCaInE
NoVaCaInE

@C0P0 @OLDKNICK  What makes you say Pierce sounds like a scared man? I can't stand the guy, but he's as confident as they come. He sounded pretty confident after beating Miami for the 3rd time this year. He's also been playing well.

lindro88
lindro88

We have Phil because the Nets exist. So thank the rich Russian. Lot of kids with no ties to the Knicks are going to pick a team and had Dolan not been forced to bring in Jackson, a few more seasons like this and the Garden would be back to what it looked like in the early 80's.

lindro88
lindro88

Give the Nets credit for turning the season around. They looked like they'd be a huge bust, they lost Brook Lopez, and have played very well since. I'm a 30 year Knicks fan, but I'm not going to pretend the Nets haven't turned things around this season. Regardless of how many fans they have.

Lebron can play any position.

@Armand N Berdynaj @brookdon

Actually, I think all he asked was that D'Antoni hire a defensive assistant, and D'Antoni was too arrogant to accommodate that request.  So as push-back, Kerr went through with the silly Shaq trade.

Seth Nadler
Seth Nadler

Actually it was Dumbtoni who said no, and the owner stuck with Dumbtoni, then he quit

lindro88
lindro88

Maybe. The Pacers have basically played an entire season of meaningless games. It's natural they'd eventually struggle. Even struggling they still win most nights. I think when the playoffs start, they'll be a different team. If the Knicks are somehow playing well at the time, and fully healthy, maybe they get it to a sixth game. Honestly I'm just hoping we make the playoffs to avoid Denver drafting our lottery pick.

NoVaCaInE

@1harris1 @illmatix  I don't like the Evan Turner for Granger move. Also, lets see if Bynum can stay healthy. Indy is having some chemistry issues right now. They also are not giving their all for a full 4 quarters like they were early in the year. They have been playing complacent basketball. Sound familiar?

I still don't see the Knicks beating them. I just see the Knicks giving them a better series. If Amar'e, Tyson, Shump and Melo can stay healthy...

lindro88
lindro88

Indiana has played much worse since picking up Turner. IMO it messed with Lance's head. They have time to get on track. Either way, the Knicks would have to finish the season on a serious tear to even give the Pacers a reason for concern. If we slide into the playoffs, strictly because Atlanta and Detroit finish worse than we do, I wouldn't expect it to be a competitive series. The NBA isn't like the NHL. 8 seeds don't get hot and beat teams that finished 30 games ahead of them. Let's see the Knicks beat some good teams. Let's see them beat Indiana at MSG. If those things start happening, I would take this streak a little more seriously. Every team has a good string of games. They are still 26-40 after winning 5 straight. Believe me, I hope they figured something out.

NoVaCaInE
NoVaCaInE

@lindro88 During last season's round vs. Indy, Melo was the only potent scorer in the starting lineup. Shump played well, but didn't do enough over the the entire series to take some of the load off of Melo. Kidd was burt out, JR was MIA and Felton didn't play well. The Knicks also were not healthy at all. Playing small was also a big mistake vs Indy.

I like the way Melo, Amar'e and Tyson have played together during this last stretch. Having Amar'e in the starting line up takes pressure off of Melo. I also like what I've been seeing from JR. Playing under control, hitting the 3, picking his spots to score but looking to get others involved 1st. His assist number have been solid lately. He's moving the ball and not over dribbling as much.

I also like the addition of Timmy to our bench. I think a bench of Pablo, Shump, Timmy, K-Mart and Aldrich match up better then our bench last year. Hopefully Woodson will give Aldrich 10-15 mins a game from here on out. Tyler has shown some promise but he's still a project that needs to be developed. I'd put Aldrich over him because Aldrich knows his role. He's in the game to rebound and intimidate shots.

The season started off a mess with the JR/Chris Smith/CAA nonsense. Woody not holding everyone accountable early. Getting on guys like Shump, Pablo, Beno, Metta and Timmy while letting JR and Melo do whatever they want. There were definitely issues in the Locker Room because of this. The Tyson and JR injuries to start the year set us back. Trying to implement Bargs. Amar'e and K-Mart in and out of the lineup. That sums up the season.

I was not confident in this team most of the year. However, the Knicks look different over this current stretch. They are playing like a team right now. Before, you could see the tension on the court and tell guys were not getting along. I like what I see and feel we can give Indy a more competitive series this time around.

1harris1
1harris1

@illmatix We wouldn't have home court though, which we had in the series last year.  Indiana is also much deeper than they were before.  If we were to play them in the first round, we'd be fortunate to extend that series to 6 games imo.

There's always a risk, what if Lebron doesn't win a title if he ever came here, then his 2 championships will almost be forgotten about and he would be labeled a choker on the biggest stage.

@Elvis Maduro @newyorker9Who walks away from 12 million a year. Especially if at bare minimum Dolan is not allowed to medal. But at best case scenario stays away. Logic? Please!
