This team is going nowhere rite now and Woodson won't be the coach next year so I wanna see Allan Houston be the coach why not . That would be cool to see him coach. A coaching change could spark this team into the playoffs.

To everybody whose saying "it won't make a difference whether we fire heady murphy or not"---HOW DO YOU KNOW? it would be better to take that risk and see what happens rather than stick with slow one whereas you and all the other NBA coaches know what we're getting.

If the Knicks lose to Sacramento at home, after the Kings play tonight, Mike Woodson should be fired.  I don't care if they promote the head trainer at that point.  The Kings are actually pretty talented, but have no idea how to play together.  The Knicks should win that game by 20 points.

the answers don't really go with the question.

I gotta find a better Knicks blog…suggestions welcome.

He's the fall man for a bad team. I don't think he's the greatest, but the team in general needs to be fired.

@ESPNSteinLine: One (reasonably) definite move you'll see before trade deadline: Wiz trading for a new backup PG. Beno Udrih said to be high on Wiz list

it's so disheartening to root for such a disgracefully run franchise. Dolan is like a black cloud hovering over everything. This is a cursed organization that needs to be saved from this ogre of an owner.

@XpectTheWorst  coaches can be and have been fired at anytime in the season. sometimes with positive results. look, all the opposing coaches know exactly what the Knicks are going do under headson. with a new coach not so much. that in itself would be an improvement.

@XpectTheWorst  YIKES! Woody became head coach into the season from Pringles!  Avery Johnson was fired last year and the Nets still made the playoffs.

@illmatix  Woodson's multiple mistakes not only have cost this team games, but has players underachieving and playing well below their own standards.

As long as Woodson sticks around, these low performances won't change.

The motivation isn't there anymore.

While I agree it's not healthy to get rid of a coach midseason, I just couldn't stand not making the playoffs, and Woodson just won't get this team to a postseason. That much is clear, imho.

@illmatix players start to reject the coach after a while. hearing a new voice or having a change from a higher position is key. take a look at Brandon Jennings starting to give a crap after mo cheeks was canned

@illmatix I remember when some were saying the same thing about not firing Pringles into the season because the season was lost.

Whether it turns around this season or not, this team needs a coach that has a clue and that should start right away rather than wasting another year.

@illmatix why keep him? is he helping this team in anyway? new coach equals new rotations NO MORE SWITCHING. dudes a bum he can go lick his lips elsewhere

@kneggyknik  Never understimate the power of change on players.

Many players' individual performances have steadily decreased under Woodson, maybe because they've grown tired of him or maybe because they just need something different.

Maybe new leadership is just what they need  to pick it up. At least, imo, I think this can definitely help some of our players.

@kneggyknik Hiding with the rest of our 'management.' When you claim the team is good enough to compete for a title and then cant lock down the 8th seed while the atlantic is historically bad, you would avoid the media also. Its like promising the family that we are going to Peter Lugars for steak and then taking them to McDonalds for a McRib instead.

@kneggyknik  Its PG if you dont have a floor general you dont have a team, you just have parts. This team has plenty of talent but it has nobody to lead!

@brookdon  Disagree, on certain nights they com out with fire, why, is the question only on certain nights. It is on the coach to have his team prepared

VerySilentJay
VerySilentJay

@brookdon  I don't think he's the fall guy. Even by his own accord, he hasn't had a good coaching year, which has cost this team multiple games.

Last season ended in disappointment, and Woodson played a role in that letdown

This season was supposed to be a strong follow up to that. We can all agree it's been far from that.

His failure to adjust to his newer pieces, his new found ability to throw his players under the bus, his constant lineups and rotation mistakes... This doesn't make for a winning combination.

He clearly isn't the motivator we thought he was, hence the importance of the vets last season.

Obviously the players don't get away blame-free. Losing is a team effort, and boy, has this team played some awful ball.

In this business, the coach call the shots and you play the brand of ball your coach wants. It's been God awful.

Since it's easier to get rid of a coach than dump an entire team, and because he's earned it, Woodson shouldn't be the Knicks' HC after the AS break.

@brookdon  Beno doesn't get you anything more than a 2nd rounder.

I'll be ecstatic if a first rounder is obtained.

@bockers  All that talent for Tyson Chandler? Don't see it happening. Would have to throw in Shumpert and Felton.

Sandro
Sandro

@bockers

I think Detroit can get a lot more than that for Monroe.
I think OKC won't give away Perkins, Jackson and 1st rounder for Chandler.

As a Knicks fan...I love it though.

brookdon
brookdon

Exactly. I'll extend the issue to the starting backcourt in general. Shump and Felton combined have been terrible

brookdon
brookdon

Firing Woodson won't make Felton and Shump not suck. That's them.

Systemically we'd see change defensively but offensively no PG= same issues

@VerySilentJay @brookdon  As bad as Felton has been Woody never gave him a chance to compete for the job,and we all know how bad Felton has been...Udroh sat on the bench even in garbage time. At least Sargaent droop along put in Metta for the last minute, how do you do that....i cant understand it!

buddhabing

@bockers  Doesn't Monroe get a new contract soon? Pretty sure he'll be making more than 5 mil per.

Sandro
Sandro

@buddhabing @bockers

I think so as well. And I'd do it anyways.

Jackson > Felton, Monroe > Chandler, Stuckey > Shumpert.

Go for it.

@Chris @Kiyan Carter  I think we have found the reason Woodson is still the coach.

a. Herb Williams?

b. Allan Houston?

c. Woodson still getting paid.

@XpectTheWorst  You made a comment that mid season changes never work out.  Woodsy was 18-6 after taking over.  Last year they won 54 games.  They didn't win a championship, but the idea that its championship or nothing is pretty stupid. The Nets fired Avery johnson after 18 games and PJ went on to have a very good season.   Woodson could not be doing a worse job. I am never in favor or constant change.  Its a terrible way to run a franchise, but when a team goes out and underperforms just about every night, the only thing that can be done is to change coaches.  They can let Herb Williams finish out the season, or be a little bold and call a guy like PJ and see if he wants a shot at the job.  Either way, Woodson is not a victim of injuries, or bad luck. Every team has injures.  He has been as bad on the sideline as Felton and Shumpert have been on the court.

@XpectTheWorst If you don't care about this team then why care about Woody being fired?

If you think Woody can't do anything with this team then why keep him around and not use the time to get in a better coach to work with the players we have?

VerySilentJay
VerySilentJay

@XpectTheWorst  I'd rather make the playoffs and give it a shot than give away a lottery pick to Denver. You never know.

I don't care how, just make the playoffs.

Anything but the playoffs would be a massive failure and grounds for complete changes.

It's unacceptable to stay out of the postseason. Unacceptable by every standards, no matter how low they've turned into.

That I said, I just don't have faith in Woodson being able to acheive such a precarious goal.

VerySilentJay
VerySilentJay

@illmatix @VerySilentJay  I guess when/if Woodson goes it's up to the players, no doubt.

From the rumors going around though, if Woodson goes, he goes with his staff and Herb takes over.

Who knows...

VerySilentJay
VerySilentJay

@illmatix @VerySilentJay  No, we're not getting a quality coach, but at least there'll be some much needed fresh air.

It's clear in some of the players' body language that they aren't 100% there anymore.

You have some requesting trades.

You got others questioning the coach's defensive schemes.

On the flipside, you got the coach calling out his players.

This, in no way, is a fashion to deal with issues within a team. And it all starts with the coach. That's where leadership and discipline comes from.

Personally, I think some players just need a new presence, plain and simple.

xmenreturn
xmenreturn

@illmatix As long as he sits them when they aren't performing or playing hard, I'm fine.

xmenreturn
xmenreturn

@illmatix Herbie won't hurt anybody.  As long as Herb put in the guys who plays hard and hold them somewhat accountable, that would be an improvement.

xmenreturn
xmenreturn

@illmatix I hear ya but I would rather see our players play without having to do all the crazy switching and with some scheme so we can get a real feel for who are the keepers.

Stop gap or not, Woody needs to go so that someone else can try to get this team in a better mindset.

Why people want to stay on really bad is beyond me.  In the long run, we are all dead!

knickgirl35
knickgirl35

@illmatix @Nick White  it just might. that's a chance i'm willing to take.

VerySilentJay
VerySilentJay

@brookdon  True, Felton and Shump have massively underachieved, but there's no telling how better leadership and stronger motivation might help them regain some of their form.

You ask me, Shump has been seriously mismanaged and Felton's shortcomings should've been adressed a lot sooner with a lesser role and lesser minutes, something a stubborn Woodson wasn't able to see.

Sandro
Sandro

@bockers @Sandro

Shumpert to Detroit and Felton to OKC. That's the only way they would agree.

And I'd do it still, if the money matches.
