Quote: Chandler on Knicks standing in the Eastern Conference

“I was looking at the standings today…I think we have a real shot of climbing up to the 3 seed.”

-Tyson Chandler after Saturday’s loss to the Heat discussing the outlook for the rest of the season.

Tyson is in dream land..... When other teams back up pgs outplay our starter, in just about every game, we are not going ANYWHERE..... The coach and the pg are crucial elements to winning, and we lack at both positions by a land slide. Rookie coaches, like Brown from 76ers and Stevens from Boston out coach Mr. Potato Head, so Tyson, good luck! GO KNICKS

Look last night knicks ran into the hardest possible situation and they came out on the losing end of it. Last night any other regular team and they would have won. To me Carmelo until the end when lebron kinda went off hitting jumpers was a wash... It was the point guard position that failed again last night. When felton performs well we win . I have yet to see a game where felton playes well and we lose....

WHAT DOES THAT TELL YOU ????

Wow Chandler I guess that is possible but......................

I do think they have a shot at the three seed. I also think they have a shot of being a lottery team with a top 10 (or even first overall) going to Denver.

Everyone's talking about teade this person...trade that person. FOR WHAT....The coach can't even manage the roster he has.

JR and Udrih for Jack and CJ Miles, Baniani for Humphries; make those moves then trade Felton for an expiring and maybe a 2nd rounder. I think small moves like this are doable and beneficial to team.

GOOD NEWS-  Fortunately everyone in the atlantic division lost last night, so that Heat L don't hurt as much.

regroup versus Milwaukee and claim the 8th spot

if we can at least be 8th or 7th by the All star break that'll keep us in the hunt.

OFF TOPIC -  Felton is a backup PG at best

lets make a deal for a real facilitator

If they could pull off minor deals for let's say a Kris Humphries and Jarret Jack i think it could improve the team noticeably without sacrificing future roster flexibility moving forward. Not saying trades would make team championship caliber but more competetive. Competitive enough to at least make the playoffs.

Tyson, you've got the paper turned upside down!

It all starts with our awful pg, a better defender and facilitator would do wonders for this team, if only a guy like Lowry was available.. Oh wait

Not to be a negative Nancy, but we are now 19-28. To reach .500, we will have go 22-13. That is possible, but probably won't be good enough for the third spot.

I appreciate Chandlers enthusiasm, but one game at a time should be their motto.

Oh please. Knicks haven't shown any indication that they have the ability to play the type of basketball it will take to climb up to the 3 spot. Their offense is getting better but their defense is atrocious. They give up so many easy baskets. Can't make crucial stops when game is in the balance. Unless they make some moves to bring in tougher, better defensive players i don't see them being able to get such a high seed.

SPENCER HAWES, F-C, PHILADELPHIA. A rare commodity – a stretch 5. You can use him underneath, you can put him out on the perimeter to open up the middle for a dominant big (yes, I am thinking Houston, too), and you can do a deal with the Sixers without having to match salaries because Philly is not only $10.8 million below the salary cap, it is $5 million below the salary floor – the minimum a team must pay in salaries. (If GM Sam Hinkie fails to reach the floor, he will need to cut a check to the Players Association). And Hawes is on an expiring deal and will be worth more than Philly will be willing to pay when he becomes unrestricted this summer.

How about Chandler and Shumpert for Hawes ,Turner and 2015 #1 pick..

@chudogz Our Knicks are the champion of cheap talks and childish false promises. Why don't they apply their rear ends to the games and let their performance on the field to the talking ? I am tired of these underachievers telling us what they will  do instead of showing us what they can do.

Geez - I am just about to blow my top off ..

@Sandro Guedes  Aww come on sandy, you know tyson is just trying to be a positive peter instead of a negative nancy...

@Biggie  That's the problem. This team has shown no inclination to be consistent or stay healthy. I guess both things go hand in hand. Stay healthy you will find consistency. Still don't like the make up of the roster. Too many injury prone, one dimensional players.

I like Lowry, but he is a rental. We can't give up young talent for him, which is what Toronto wants.

That trade makes zero sense for Phili.

Turner has started to come into his own for the Sixers. I can't see them doing that kind of deal. Certainly not with the 1st round pick coming to us.

This deal if we could make it would make our defense markedly worse, whch i wasn't sure was possible. Hawes is a more consistent version of Bargs.....no

@XpectTheWorst The coaches decision to us JR to defend Labron is completely insane. Offensively, and defensively the team lacks consistent play from quarter to quarter. Last night I thought tha lack of ball movement from the start killed us. Its just so obvious when we move the ball

we're a much better team!! What I dont understand is why the coach allows the team to go for such long streches. That's just unacceptable. When that ball is not moving he has to call a time out, and hold them accountable.

@XpectTheWorst  Humphries' is an expiring contract. They could probably resign him at a more team friendly rate than the 12mil he's making this year. Barnianis' has a player option for next year i believe.. Jacks' contract is a year longer than JRs but that's the penalty Knicks have to pay for having Cleveland take on a risky player like JR. Miles' and Udrihs' contracts are expiring.

@kenmetskni  Don't know about that. Lowry is a Philly kid so the prospect of being starting pg for the Knicks would seem to be an appealing option. But one never knows. Maybe kid has other plans for his free agency.

With the unbalanced schedule between conferences, it extremely unlikely that a .500 team will receive a third seed. That would mean only Miami and Indiana would have winning records. If we win the Atlantic, we would get the fourth spot at a minimum. That is possible. Having the third best record in the East is not.
