Quote: Felton on criticism in the media

“I can’t care less what people say. I’m a strong-minded person. They can say what they want but they cant dictate my life…That’s what happens when you’re a point guard. Things are going to get pointed your way.”

-Raymond Felton on the criticism he’s been receiving

Harris Decker

This is a little ridiculous. Sure, Raymond Felton is pissed off that he’s being criticized, but there are two factors that make this quote absurd.

  1. He’s not being criticized because he’s the point guard, he’s being criticized because he’s playing terribly.
  2. This is not what happens when you’re a point guard. This is what happens when you’re a bad point guard.

Felton has been awful this year and he deserves everything the media is giving him. He’s been really bad on a team that should give him ample opportunities to thrive. He’s surrounded by capable scorers and just can’t seem to get the ball moving. Sorry, Ray, but things are going to continue to be pointed your way until you get it together.

Felton might be bottom 5 pg in the league.. EVERY point guard who plays him has a career night. He couldn't guard a mannequin. Its like his feet are cemented to the ground.. I don't understand how you make it through the nba with that bad of defense

Raymond Felton, everything Harris Decker has said, along with being a fat,

out of shape, sub-par point guard is why you are being criticized.

Writers tend to be PC about it, fans don't have to.

So, get your fat a$$ off the fried foods, ice cream and cakes and on a proper diet and in the gym.

Stop squealing about well deserved criticism you fat loser.

Your poor record speaks for itself. Your words however do not.

I'm tired of your excuses tubby. Get it together or GTFOH.

Let's Go Knicks!

He's a very nice player 30-35 nights per year....otherwise,  he looks Physically Unable to Perform. Wear and Tear...Conditioning...I don't know the cause,  but the fact is he Can't Make it every night...or most nights...

...which is pretty much the "Design" up and down the Roster.

"That’s what happens when you’re a point guard. Things are going to get pointed your way.”

Felton only thinks he's being criticized because he's a point guard? Doesn't he realize when you play as poorly as he has this year, it doesn't matter what position you play, you're going to get criticized. To be honest, he's lucky he even has a job at this point. He looks, fat, old and slow and he gets taken to school night after night by younger and more athletic point guards. This is New York Raymond, time to get serious...

Another thing even though chandler did play Aldrige good last night he is not a keeper chandler is as inconsistent in his defense as jr on offense, chandler gets way to much props for doing absolutely nothing. I say trade chandler and let tyler finish the season maybe find him a back up or put amare at the 5 and grab a good pick or player for chandler before the deadline and while people still believe he can help a playoff team.

KnickelusKnickleby

Also why isn't Tyler getting more burn? him and Amare are beast on floor together

a Prigioni,JR,THJR,STAT,Tyler Lineup actually got us a Lead last night

Weat exactly do you want him to say?  "Yeah, I suck?"

People ball movement nor shumps and feltons bad play killed the knicks last night yes it played a part but the stupid fouls 33 fouls to the knicks 20 plus thier lack of 3 pt made 4 out of 21 compared to portlands 8 out of 21. these are small fixes plus replacing the pg but woodson is just to stubborn and I believe that really had an effect on melo especially when he had a scorching first quarter and sat out a good amount of the 2nd even though the 2nd unit played good it probably pissed melo off.

I wonder what a coach like Hollins would do with the players on this roster? What kind of system would he run? Who other than Melo and Chandler gets major minutes? Would love to find out.

KnickelusKnickleby

Knicks need to also stop complaining to Refs like the calls are gonna change? if they call a foul on a non-foul just foul a lot harder

if they don't call fouls against you, go into the lane elbow 1st to draw offensive fouls

have each man off the bench commit it to get the point across

as well as butcher the other team

see the Knicks gotta get back to bully ball,no mercy

then the player who doesn't play put them in to get flagrants on star players.

we at that low point in the season where we gotta start playing dirty like everyone else.

seeing Melo,Chandler and JR get beat up in the paint says the Refs aren't even calling a fair game. so why play fair?

Woodson should turn this bunch into a dirty spit on your grave bunch

something like Thibs turned the Bulls

Since Ray does not distribute well and holds the ball too much  why not play Murry who is no worse at distribution of the ball and  a much better defender.  Fire Woodson,   Trade Chandler for a first round draft pick and play Tyler and Aldrich at the center.   Tyler is a solid shot blocker and has a reasonable jump shot.

KnickelusKnickleby

Felton is a BACKUP PG. no way should he be in Starting Lineup

Prigioni has the Basketball IQ to be a Coach on the floor

which is what a PG does..not dribble into double teams and get blocked every time they drive

also hit Foul shots if you can't do anything make sure your Jumper is flawless to where you can't be left open.

Felton and Shumpert are Offensively the same except for Height

Defense Felton doesn't have the legs or strength to stop guards

Prigioni even older gets on Guards nerves and actually Lillard didn't even go off against Priggy.

Aaron Afflalo,Nikola Vucevic and Jason Maxiel to the Knicks in a 3 team trade.Knicks give up Chandler,Shumpert, and Felton.

ray like every single knick needs a coach who can bring out the best in them. we STILL have a coach that brings out the worst in his players.

2 year rebuild.

1. Sign Melo

2. Two minutes after signing contract, escort melo to dr andrews and have shoulder fixed. Announce he's out for year.

3. Trade tyson for young talent and/or picks.

4. Same for bargs.

5. Try to get anything for jr, prigs and ray

6. Commence tanking.

7. Make picks

8. Go crazy if FA

It's not Feltons' fault. It's the organization and the coachs' fault for putting him in a situation that his talents aren't suited for. He's not a 30 minutes a game starter in the NBA. He's not paid like one either. Why did Woodson declare him a no doubt starter along with Anthony and Chandler at the start of the year? He's not in those guys class as a player. Good thing is he isn't a burden on the cap with his team friendly contract. You could easily trade him or cut his minutes drastically. Problem solved.

Ray finally decides to speak to the Media and this is what he comes up with.

" I don't care what people say"

How about owning up and admitting you have to step up your game, he did admitted it early in season now he is just deflecting.

Now we know why he was bashed in Portland. Never in Shape, horrible outside shooter and he may be the worst defender at his position in the league, well Nash is pretty bad too.

Dude you are at the bottom tier of Point Guards in the NBA and your answer is "you cant dictate my life" lol

NO one in the Media is making false accusation or taking personal shots.

The media is pointing out how poor your play is, its obvious to anyone watching the Knicks.

@fast_eddie  It's a shame that he doesn't even realize it for his bad play. What, does he think he is playing well? smh.

Mr.Boots
Mr.Boots

@KnickelusKnickleby Tyler stills tends to be foul-prone as he is still learning what he can and can not do on an NBA court. If he is to be available at appropriate junctures in the second half, his fouls and therefore, minutes have to be limited in the first half.

Just my opinion, of course.

Knicks_Fanatic

@KnickelusKnickleby

They got that lead with Lilliard and Aldridge on the bench. Portland has no depth. Once the starters came back in the took over.

Pevi Levi

@KnickelusKnickleby portlands second unit is horrid dont put to much into it but yea they should trot them out on a teams first unit see what they do

buddhabing

@bockers  I'd rather trade those 3 to Phoenix for Okafer, Dragic or Bledsoe and a pick.

buddhabing
buddhabing

@bockers  That would cut into Tim Hardaways time on the floor. How would you distribute minutes between him, JR and Afflalo?

Pevi Levi
Pevi Levi

@orlando_knickfan melo has a small tear that might alter his shot if repair there is nothing he can do except play with it as is or get surgery and hope for the best

buddhabing
buddhabing

@orlando_knickfan  You're hired as next GM of Knicks...lol...Agree with most of what you say except i think they could still compete even after trading all those players. Don't think Anthony is playing hurt either.

buddhabing
buddhabing

@jayboog  That's just the frustration of not playing the entire 4th quarter talking. Woodson, in his usual fashion was days late in doing what he should have done long time ago; cut his minutes.

Pevi Levi
Pevi Levi

@Elvis Maduro @Pevi Levithe proof is in the pudding, have you seen him when he goes down court and he doesn't touch the ball and someone misses a shot instead of rebounding he pouts as if he was suppose to get an alley every time and if he misses a lay up which is norm for him he cries foul

denelor
denelor

@Mr.Boots @KnickelusKnickleby  Let him play and learn this year.  If he fouls out, he fouls out.  They need him to improve and be a real part of the team next year and beyond and to do that, they need him to learn to stay on the court.  The only way that happens is by letting him play and learn, not by holding his hand now.

rkj473
rkj473

@Pevi Levi @KnickelusKnickleby  Knicks are in the experimental stage of the season. I say why not let them get a couple minutes against other team's first unit.

buddhabing
buddhabing

@Elvis Maduro @buddhabing  I'm pretty sure what he said was watered down. Most coaches don't like to throw members of their fraternity under the bus so he probably didn't say what he would really do.

KnickelusKnickleby
KnickelusKnickleby

@Elvis Maduro you have a point but when i see them on the floor i have no faith in either one of them being a threat on Offense

if i was the opposing team i would feel the same and only lock down Melo and dare him to pass it out for either of those two to clank shots

Now THJR is a player who should be on the floor alongside JR,Prigioni,Melo, Stat or Kmart once Healthy

Thats a capable Unit

bockers

@Sandro Guedes @bockers

I realize we need a PG .Vucevic and Afflalo solidify SG and centerThis gives us 3 solid positions.I am planning for 2015 when we can add a superstar after Stat and AB come off the books.

I was posting since Melo arrived that we need a PG (CP3).Bloggers on TKB responded we can't wait a year.LOL.Nowwe are going into another rebuilding mode.

buddhabing
buddhabing

@Sandro Guedes  In his defense D'Antonis' main problem was getting team to play defensive side of the ball. On the offensive end he was pretty good. If you could find way to meld D'Antoni and Jeff VanGundy coaching skills you would have one hell of a leader for this team.

orlando_knickfan
orlando_knickfan

Agree that his shoulder is not bothering him, but I doubt it's fully healed. Pkus I think his body needs to rest

buddhabing
buddhabing

@Elvis Maduro @buddhabing  Yup and the 2 pg system never made sense to me anyway. Felton is not a good distributor or shooter. What purpose does it serve to have him and his defensive liabilities on the floor? It's not like he's a better scorer than JR or Hardaway.

Mr.Boots
Mr.Boots

@denelor I can't totally agree with you.  He is needed this year and must be available as the Knicks have a bench of fragile bigs. That he needs to be on the court is right and that is why his fouls and minutes have to be regulated.
