I think it will be great to work with him and it’s going to be fun.” -Steve Mills on Phil JacksonYeah Steve, I am quite sure that's what Phil was thinking when he took the job. Wow, me and Steve Mills are gonna have some fun together!!! Now you see why we are where we are. Get us out of this mess Phil! rico 5pts Interesting take-a-away from the Dolan interviews. When asked why he canned Glen-Grun he said, "we felt he he was the wrong kind of GM for now"…but Dolan also said "I don't know anything about basketball but I had to get more involved".So if he doesn't know anything about hoops who told him that Grunwald should be fired a week before the start of the season? WHo was "We?" Dolan also said "We have a better team this year than last"..so he wasn't sore over Bargnani. Dolan might sound like an affable moron but he's a snake. Glad he hired Phil, there was really nothing else he could try, but he giggled through lie after lie last week when he spoke to Michael Kay and Francesa (I listened to both…for history sake) buddhabing 5pts Has Mills ever worked for any other NBA franchise? For the life of me i can't fathom what qualifies him to be a GM other than being friends with the owner. dagawd 5pts Do u know how many players can have a decent/good year playing in danni boy system.Earl Clark is garbage tw22 5pts "You know, partnership. Phil asks for coffee and I go get the coffee." KnickelusKnickleby 5pts We have the the opportunity to go to an 11 game Winning Streak until we face Phoenix If we continue the same play and hold leads and defend like our lives depended on it we can beat anyone in our way until May. had to rhyme that last line lol lpeezy31 5pts Ain't really a big deal but....why did we let go Earl Clark now ? Who's the legit 3 to play behind Mel ?.....baffling organization rico 5pts Mills will be like Jacksons Secretary, he'll do the tedious work, administrate and let Phil play "build a team". lobcity1 5pts I can't wait for tonights game. Stat always have great games at Philly. Blaze NYK 5pts It will be Fun.This is important. I think one thing that has left this organization since the losing began in the early 2000s is the sense of fun. Fun developing a team. Fun playing for The Knicks. Fun being a Knicks fan. Look, this isn't me spouting some new age hippie dippie embrace your inner child stuff, although Phil Jackson is totally new age and hippie dippie. But on some level the game should be fun. Look at last year's team when we were winning games. The game looks easy when the team plays well. Players are smiling, laughing on the bench, giving each other high 5s and jumping up and down. You are starting to see that now that we are winning game although its more serious now cause we're so far behind in the standings. And yeah, when it gets to the playoffs, elimination games, etc…you gotta get more serious. But there hasn't really been a sense of fun around this franchise in a long long time. Hopefully Phil can bring some of that back. KnicksMaybeThisYear 5pts First who let him say anything???Second it would be nice if Phil got some of the Lakers people here, that franchise has been winning for years mike23 5pts I will be surprised if he is still considered GM after this season, Phil would seem to want his own people working under him not a cast off of the negative knicks past. Kenny Kaufman 5pts If you mean cleaning the toilets when Phil asks then ok Steve! knickgirl35 5pts BTW Westbrook has had 3 surgeries on his knee when it was only supposed to be 1. He won't be much help to Durant in the playoffs. Eric Falkman 5pts great partnership? dudes a puppet gm lol Knicks_Fanatic 5pts @buddhabing It was rumored that Steve Mills was going to be the next head of the Player's Union. Dolan grabbed him up quickly before the job was announced. So he does have ins with players and agents. With Phil in charge, Mills could be an asset.Former MSG president Steve Mills leading candidate to be new executive director of NBA players' unionhttp://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/knicks/msg-prez-mills-leading-candidate-head-nba-player-union-article-1.1360253#ixzz2wdZGgz6q knickgirl35 5pts @akamarb Well ya aint gonna get everything. We got the main thing. Ray Jorge 5pts @zdiddy4nyk You know Pablo & Felton can't stop Wroten!!! Let's just pray Amare & Melo have monster games to overcome their point guards destroying ours!!! Kenny Kaufman 5pts They are not desperate they are lottery bound and it's our job to give them a couple more lottery balls! rico 5pts @tw22 No "Phil asks for coffee and Mills tells Alan to get it. SheSaidSpikeWho 5pts @lpeezy31 Earl Clark was never truly backing up Melo so it really shouldn't be a concern. VerySilentJay 5pts @lpeezy31 JR and Shump are sharing time at the 3 now.Woodson's tightened up his rotations. tw22 5pts @lpeezy31 Earl Clark is not an NBA rotation player. Murray and Tylwr need run. Clark needs a job on a truck. knickgirl35 5pts @rico I agree. Best assessment yet. knickgirl35 5pts @lobcity I hope the Knicks beat them by 50+. diggs 5pts @KnicksMaybeThisYear "Whe let him say anything"...my first reaction too. xmenreturn 5pts @mike23 Yep! Phil is jut smiling to everyone and offering support because he wants no part of being an excuse why we didn't make any playoffs.Once the season is over, Woody is gone and Mills will be reassigned somewhere else to do nothing under Dolan. xmenreturn 5pts @Eric Falkman Yep and he says WORK WITH HIM instead of FOR HIM! That alone should tell Phil that he's Dolan stooge and not to be trusted. xmenreturn 5pts @Kiyan Carter Yeah right! STATues is not losing that last big payday next year! You boy Melo will be playing with the same cast next year if he stays! buddhabing 5pts @akamarb That's the 1 thing that worries me about the Phil Jackson hiring. They should have allowed him to bring in his own people and purge any remnants of the previous administration. There is still time to do that but with Dolan and his misplaced loyalties i don't see it happening. VerySilentJay 5pts @tw22 @lpeezy31 Murry's not an NBA rotatio player either.Tyler was outplayed by Aldrich imo. They're both very, very raw. They need a ton of minutes in the DL if they're to develop the way this team hope they do. Kenny Kaufman 5pts Earl Clark is stiff as a board!! diggs 5pts @zdiddy4nyk @lpeezy31 Are you guys really concerned that we let go of Earl freaking Clark?!? frankieboy 5pts @xmenreturn @mike23 EXACTLY !! mike23 5pts @SuperDuper @mike23 I don't mind Houston but why Dolan thinks so highly of Mills and why Phil would agree to let him be his GM even up to this point is the confusing part. You'd think he would want his own GM which I think will still happen. knickgirl35 5pts @xmenreturn If he F's up Phil will fire him. No need for us to worry about Mills. Tony Fonseca 5pts Elvis, you are not making sense. Melo carried cuse to the championship period!!!!!! You can hate Melo, but you need to be honest and objective... please SMH!!!!! Kenny Kaufman 5pts You are delusional! MELO single handedly put that team on his back and carried Cuse to the title!! knickgirl35 5pts @mike23 @SuperDuper Dolan trusts Isiah for some unknown reason and he probably recommended Mills. frankieboy 5pts @mike23 @SuperDuper Part of the deal.....Dolan already admitted to being a non basket mind. He can't add , what we already know , that his GM and coach are also not up to speed . In other words , Phil comes in and fires , Mills and Woody on the spot. Patience folks.....,patience. If Mills can't get it done this summer , he swill not have a job as GM. xmenreturn 5pts @therealprof @xmenreturnLOL The real Mills would be backup then! lol therealprof 5pts @xmenreturn Even better, he makes Mills follow him around carrying the microphone that he has labeled "Mills". xmenreturn 5pts @therealprof Phil could just carry a microphone with him and label it Mills! therealprof 5pts @mike23 @SuperDuper A lot of times, teams have a single person serving as President of BBall Operations and GM. I dont think Mills serving as GM is a big deal at all. He will have little to zero input on personnel decisions and will literally "Manage" the business affairs of the organization. If he can cash in one or two of those alleged "good relationships" he brings to the table, all the better. rico 5pts @Sandro Guedes @firebaldy @xmenreturn I think warkensten (old denver gm) is still in the house for cap-ology…I think? If not they'll hire some CPAs to fill that role therealprof 5pts @SuperDuper Herb is the only rock in the Knicks wasteland of tumbleweeds. The doorman attending the revolving door. If Herb is gone next year, I would be shocked. ;) xmenreturn 5pts @Sandro GuedesLMAO! That was a direct hit on the Helmet! KnicksMaybeThisYear 5pts @Sandro Guedes @firebaldy @xmenreturn Glen was fired due to their differences on player development - Dolan said it in his interview with Michael Kay VerySilentJay 5pts @Sandro Guedes @VerySilentJay @SuperDuper @firebaldy @xmenreturn If you judge Mills for what he did in his previous stint, yes, he sucks. This time around he didn't do sh!t, so there's no basis to judge him upon. VerySilentJay 5pts @Sandro Guedes @SuperDuper @firebaldy @xmenreturn If GG had great cap understanding he would not have brought in AB and wouldn't have given away picks like candy. Why bring in a long contract when you can use cheap picks to fill those gaps? xmenreturn 5pts @Kiyan Carter Yeah, Melo will be in Chi-Town pointing at the head after he hits a 3 next year!
