Quote: Woodson on loss to Bucks

“There’s no gimmees in this league when you’re out on the road. But not taking anything away from Milwaukee, but this is a game we should have won.”

Whre are the VanGundys when you need them?

I forgot who gave this analysis but it's very true with this team, they described as saying the knicks have to many one-dimensional players and not enough players that can do more then one thing well.  Look up and down the roster, Shump-defense, but can't shoot or drive, Melo-great scorer average defender, chandler-defender, but can't score, Jr-scorer but cant defend, THJR-scorer can't defend, Amare-scorer, can't defend, Felton-can't do anything well

Either way there are three options the knicks need to explore, option#1 is trade whoever they have to get a true PG and build around the new PG and Melo, option #2 is to trade Melo and start over..Very tough choices, but option #3 is to stand pat which is the worst option.  I'm ok with option #1 or 2, but knowing how stupid this team is, they will choose option #3, doing nothing, which almost guarantees Melo leaves with out getting anything for him..

I am just sick and tired of wasting my free time on this f'ing team.  I need a hobby.

I plan my days and always leaving free time to watch every Knicks game...

What to do with my spare time???

I love this team way too much...it is depressing!!!

I used to think Isola was full of it when he opines that MSG is not interested in winning.  I now think he is 1000% correct, and it's going to get worse by the day.

1. We have "0" plan going forward other than trying to re-sign Melo.

2. An unproven GM

3. A mid-level coach at best.

4. A completely inept basketball organizational structure that doesn't successfully meld modern analytics with the "eye test."

5. No credibility within the NBA.

6. NO plan whatsoever IF Melo does leave

7. NO plan even if we RESIGN Melo

The only good thing we have is scouting but no picks to put that to use this year; wonderful.

I don't see a sensible. sustainable, successful future for this franchise going forward. I really just can't fathom one.

What about sending Chandler, Felton and Hardaway to Miami for Toney Douglas?

Knicks best bet is to clear cap space in 2015 to be in a position to sign 67-year old Steve Nash to a 3-year, 61 million dollar contract, with a 4th year player option.

The .500 report.

In order to finish at 41-41, we will need to go 22-12 .647. That is becoming more and more unlikely by the day. Since starting out 3-13, we have played .500 ball 16-16 for the last two months.

In 2011 the knicks gave up all their assets to acquire Melo, they gave up on that season to acquire the superstar, it's time to give up every asset again to get a quality PG, Melo know's this team is going nowhere this year as do we , but they have to show him they are willing to get him another superstar.  That means everyone not named Melo should be on the trading block

@Seth Nadler  A bunch of us said it. The best teams in the league have been and will always be made up of 3-4 two-way players in the starting lineup.

Look, you don't have to be able to do everything on offense and everything on D to excel and win a chip. But you can't have more than 1 guy in the starting lineup who only plays on one side of the court. 1-way players are meant for the bench or to anchor the D of a team with 4 other all-around players around him.

BUT KEEP ONE THING IN MIND - it isn't about having players who are really good on both sides. Its about having no more than 1 guy who is terrible on one side.

The irony of it all is that Woody's system is designed to account for having sub-par defenders. This is why the team was still successful on D last season (or at least relatively) - because guys who have a weakness in certain elements of their defense (Copeland, Kidd, Melo, JR, etc.) won't be as exposed.

BUT his system falls completely apart if there are ANY (and I mean ANY) truly terrible defenders, especially guards.

@Seth Nadler I agree with your assessment but theoretically when you have such a good scorer as Melo that type of lineup should work.  Something like 2 offensive guys and 3 defensive guys or vice versa.  You should be able to match-up with most teams one way or another.  But for some reason it just doesn't work out.  That formula worked just for the Lakers and OKC but I guess the secondary scorers were much better too.

@Seth Nadler We a fans, have a great option (the one I chose several years ago): stop being prisoners to Dolan's stupidity.

I enjoy basketball with or without the Knicks. After they are eliminated, I continue watching the playoffs and pick a tem to root for (for whatever the reason). I enjoy watching great players play, even when they come to MSG and posterize our hapless team.

I refuse top give Dolan a penny. No Knicks merchandise or trips to Madison Square Garden until they put a great team together. Until then, I enjoy the great basketball the NBA has to offer, don't blame the press or Charles Barkley for telling the truth about our sucky team, don't blame the refs.

That's my choice.

@zdiddy4nyk Just don't take it too seriously. Learn to be a BASKETBALL fan first and a KNICKS fan second. I can enjoy a Miami-Indiana game as much as I enjoy a Knicks-over-San Antonio win. I enjoy watching great players like LeBron and Durant. I can appreciate good basketball, like last year's series between Indiana and Miami and the finals between Miami and Spurs.

My basketball joy is not a the mercy of a retardo like James Dolan.

@orlando_knickfan

What MSG is concerned about is MSG, the building. As long as they can pay of the $800 million they spent to renovate it, all is good. The Knicks sell out and make money. Winning is optional.

Now, you are very qualified to run the Knicks as our next GM...as per Dolan.

This ish is depressing...TRUTH!!

It is a part of my DNA.

@Sandro Guedes @zdiddy4nyk I would love to.  But, I need to make a certain amount to maintain my current lifestyle.

Much respect for what you do for others.  I try to help people everyday also.

When, I make a certain amount or retired...I would love to dedicate the rest of my life to a worthy cause.

God bless and continue doing the right thing!!

@edb7777 @Chris @Sandro Guedes @zdiddy4nyk  Whatever you have interest in. I am a teacher and a coach, some people get involved with being a surrogate or doing community work to help kids, YMCA YWCa, everyone is looking for volunteers. I did Little league, gave basketball  clinics, tennis clinics ran an AAU basketball team, started a soccer club in my community. There are all kinds of way to get involved, big brother ect

@knickster @orlando_knickfan They are both young.  They can work on their games in the off-season.

Look at how much Affalo and Wesley Matthews have improved in the NBA.

But you are right...THjr is very good shooter, but below average defender.  Shump is good defender, but below average offensive player.

knickster

@orlando_knickfan THJr is the EXACT ooposite of CHUMPert: he can score, but he won't play any defense whatsoever. Neither one has a great future, but they can be good as role players off the bench (depending on their attitude).

@Sandro Guedes @edb7777@knickster@Seth NadlerI'm a fan of Walker and Barnes but I would hope to get at lest 2 picks if you have to take on Okafor's contract.  But it makes sense on the surface.  I was wondering what how people valued Melo who has such a rare and valuable skill set.

knickster

@Sandro Guedes @edb7777@Seth Nadler

You are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. I have been saying that for 2 years now.

The other possibility is to get Melo to commit to a 3-year contract @ 17M per year and then use the rest of the team (no exceptions) as trade material to start a full rebuild around Melo - but this is a move that requires balls and intelligence (intelligence to realize Melo does NOT have to many options at this point). A remote possibility at best.

edb7777
edb7777

@Sandro Guedes @Seth NadlerEven if you found something decent you'd have a PG, Melo, 3 starters that should be bench players and no depth on the wings.  Not to mention no 1st rd pick.  That would be worse.
