Raymond Felton probable vs. Detroit

Sam Spiegelman

Knicks point guard Raymond Felton is considered probable for Tuesday night’s game at home against the Detroit Pistons.

A groin injury has sidelined Felton since Dec. 23, which was just his second game played since Dec. 10.

Felton is averaging 10.5 points, 5.1 assists and 2.4 rebounds as a starter, playing about 32 minutes per game. His presence means Beno Udrih will move back to the bench in a reserve role. Udrih has averaged 8.8 points, seven assists and 2.6 boars over his past five contests. Udrih’s best game of the season came filling in for Felton on Dec. 27 against the Raptors as the veteran scored 15 points on 6-11 shooting from the field, albeit in a loss.

I hate that Felton might return at the expense of any minutes for Murry.

Amazingly Bynum has made $74 Million dollars so far in his career.

I wouldn't mind Felton missing a couple more games. I hate to see Murray buried on the bench again. It took a lot to get him playing time even with Felton and Prigs injury.

Is there an update on Pablo's status? I thought he was ahead of Felton in the recovery process.

The nets continue to win even without Williams and Lopez. Knicks should be concerned. If team misses playoffs, you can kiss melo goodbye.

absolutely no reason to rush him back.. and dumb woodson will play him 30+ minutes..

we are the Knicks..

oh and bye to murrys minutes...

Just herd the News on Bynum... Wow.. he is another Eddy Curry and Greg Oden, Just in the NBA to get a check. His NBA career is over!

We need CAA to keep Felton out. Where is the CAA!!!

Smart move is to keep the lineups and rotations just like they were during the Texas trip. Why alter moves that gave you positive results.

Bring Felton off the bench, play him limited minutes, and take them from JR.

Of course "smart" isn't really what our coach does, so... Who knows what he's got in mind.

I don't get it...Why rush him back?  If he's still just "probable" odds are that he will "probably" hurt the team more than help it.  The guy has been atrocious when not 100% and Beno has been an improvement.  Let Ray truly heal so he can be the best pg on the team again.  No need to rush him back if he's not 100%.

@orlando_knickfan Bulls are clearly aiming at a top 15 pick in the upcoming draft. No Rose, no Deng. Their two top scorers gone. And they're not looking for a high draft? Yeah, right.

Thibs can't be happy with a FO that takes decisions without even consulting him.

@orlando_knickfan

It's more like no Rose. Last time the Bulls made the lottery, they pulled the winning ticket from the 9 spot, I believe.

@kneggyknik Lopez is super overrated because he's flashy and puts up points.  He's one of the worst defenders in the NBA though and is softer than Bargs (and his rebounding is barely better).  No great accomplishment to beat bad teams without Lopez.

Hawks lost their best player ( a legitimately good big man unlike Lopez) in Horford.

@lobcity Oden didn't have time to show what he was capable of. Curry was an idiot throughout his career.

At least Bynum dominated, even with injuries, for a couple of seasons.

@BiggieSmalls Also Woodson looks like the kind of coach that would say "you don't loose your stating job because of an injury." I could be wrong but I think he goes with Felton if healthy enough and bring Beno off the bench.

@BiggieSmalls I agree, I wouldn't start Felton based on continuity with the starting unit and a few guys off the bench. The Knicks have gotten off to better starts lately, not falling behind in the first quarter.

@BiggieSmallsthat would be the logical thing to do, but our coach cant think like that.

@VerySilentJay You lost this "coach" at "take minutes away from JR".  That will never happen.

@ds2488 Exactly why it's not going to go well and any proclamation of the Knicks being back is premature.

@xmenreturn @orlando_knickfan As injury prone as he's been and as awful as his NY contract is, Amare palyed a hell of a lot more ball than Bynum and dominated the PF position for years.

@BiggieSmallsLOL Nets win 3 games in a row and is undefeated in 2014.  With your logic, that means Kidd should get a lifetime coaching contract for turning it around correct?

If and until they really turn it around, they still suck too!

@ds2488Lopez is flashy?  Are you on meds? lol

Lopez is stiff and methodical at best. Yet he has an inside game or presence.   The Nets play better when JJ decides to show up and D-will takes over and assert himself on offense.

SuperDuper

@ds2488@kneggyknikThere is no reason why Lopez isn't a double double guy. He has moves to the basket and a nice jumpshot but he is soft.

would be a dumb coach, making  a smart (ish) decision.

@VerySilentJay@lobcity Oden didn't have time bc he didn't take the game serious and gave more focus on activities other basketball and he was never in shape and healthy. The same with Curry and now Bynum.

@VerySilentJay @BiggieSmalls Sac's pick top 12 protected.  It is possible but unlikely.  Drops to top 10 protected the next 3 years which is more likely.

CHI also gets right to swap with CLE top 14 protected.  I guess that's also unlikely but certainly possible.

Then they have CHA top 10 protected.  Right now they would get that if season ended today.  CHA will most likely be a playoff team so that's good for CHI.

VerySilentJay
VerySilentJay

@BiggieSmalls @VerySilentJay It's top 14 protected, so it's unlikely Chicago gets a shot at it.

And I meant with their own pick.

xmenreturn

@BiggieSmalls  Yep but I can surely admit when I'm wrong and so far, the Nets suck and I won't blame it on injures and etc.

I still think they can make noise in the playoffs but they must first get to the playoffs and that's not a given.

ds2488
ds2488

@xmenreturn lol I wish I was on meds.

I mean he's flashy in the sense that he puts up points and has a pretty varied offense and skills for a big man.  I didn't mean he was flashy in the sense that like Blake Griffin is flashy lol.

VerySilentJay
VerySilentJay

@SuperDuper @ds2488 @kneggyknik Yes there's a reason, he doesn't know how to rebound and doesn't put in the work on D. No fundamentals whatsoever.

He leaves his energt for offensive production and forgets about the other end.

VerySilentJay

@BiggieSmalls @lobcity They were, but for those who actually got to see him play, he was a beast.

Oden, physically, wasn't cut out for the NBA. But the talent was undeniable.

@BiggieSmalls @rkj473 Well yes, Woodson did anoint Felton the starting pg. So if he doesn't start tonight he definitely will after a couple games.

If he doesn't start tonight but plays, I think he definitely starts against the Heat on Thursday.

lobcity
lobcity

@BiggieSmalls@lobcity Yes, i  know. I just can't believe that you really think Woodson will actually consider not starting Felton and not overtire him like he does with all our players.

lobcity

@BiggieSmalls@lobcity You criticized him at the beginning of the season for guaranteeing Felton a starting role. You really think he will go away from that tonight if Felton plays?

lobcity
lobcity

@BiggieSmalls@lobcity Looking back at Woodson coaching history, you should know by now that Woodson will start Felton and give him the bulk of the mins. He wont sit Felton down.

xmenreturn

@BiggieSmalls So you criticize our coach at the start of the season but you won't criticize him for going 9-21 before the TX trip?

 Are u ree-tarded?

I'm sure after the next knicks loss we won't see you for a couple of days.

lobcity
lobcity

@BiggieSmalls@lobcityI would def fall back a little and give him credit for it but i need to see a lot more to stop criticizing Woodson. Felton cannot be guaranteed a starting spot.  Something that needs to be talked about is how well Beno plays when he hits the bench early and see his mins being taken away by Murry when he plays terrible. I don't get why Woodson doesn't do that with Felton and JR. You can't just guarantee players a starting role and not make them think that no matter what they will still have a significant role on the team.

You play the knicks when you want to snap your losing streak.

@VerySilentJay

We play the Pistons tonite who has lost their last 4 so this should be a gimme based on how we played in TX correct?

We have only won 2 games in a row once this this year and that is just outrageous!
