                         With Cappy at the helm, the 83' Islanders would be hard pressed to make the Playoffs! Things can get ugly real fast with the team heading out on a five game roadtrip next week!

HockeyBuzz:

I asked Anders how he stays focused and doesn’t worry about decisions that he has no control over, “The situation like that it fuels you. It gets you going every day when you come to the rink and it makes you a better player.” I asked Lee what he has to do specifically to stand out and make impossible for his strong play to not be ignored, “I have to keep doing what I’m doing. Working hard, playing hard, continue to get it in on the forecheck and continue to score. I’m getting used to the pro game, you become used to everything around you and you can just relax and play hockey.” said Lee.

Lee has the right attitude

A few thoughts...

1. Discouraging loss, really.

2. Hoping it was the result of a young team that read too many headlines and let up on the gas pedal

3. Conacher has until Tuesday v Peg to prove he belongs on Line 1

I think Conacher on the first line is one of Cappy's best moves. I also believe Warren G. Harding was the greatest President this country ever had.

Further, I believe that pigs fly, but become invisible when in the air so that we can't see them.

Why would Johnny B not test the market? Answer: He will. Isles have a shot a resigning him IF they make the play-offs. If not, it's bye bye.

Johnny Boychuk open to sign an extension midseason .... WOOOOOO!

Halak was awful last night. I was at the game and he just seemed off. He's better than what we saw last night. The Isles controlled the play for the first 25 minutes or so. The bad goals took the wind out of their sails. Regroup - move on. How much longer to we have to see Conacher on the first line? He's a bottom 6 forward.

We out shot them 36-28

There goalie was hot , our goalie was not

Now on to the Bruins

Good to hear about Hickey.  Hopefully, Grabo and Vis make it into the line up against Boston; Strome and Nelson were doing well with Grabo, and Strait needs to sit.

Halak just had a bad period, should have been pulled after the 4th goal; the Isles were outshot 13-7 in that period against a soft team, which, I guess makes it their worst period of the season.  It is frustrating that this is the second time in 3 games where the Isles have had a bad 2nd period - hopefully, that's not a trend.

I wanted to give Cappy a pass, and see how the team responds in November, but with Babcock hanging out there in the wind, it does make one wonder what he would do.  Conacher should be on the 4th line with MM and CC.  Once Grabner gets back, Cal to the 4th, and Conacher sits. Kulemin looked noticeably better on the top line.

@bubbamac19 unbelievable I tried to post my piece it wouldn't let me posted same stuff on different thread & then came back to this one. Copy & pasted.....???? Not sure who has more quirks this website or Isles.

@bubbamac19 My basic notes on game.....team flat(coaching/captain)...PP brutal again(coaching)....Halak brutal but did it really take Cappy that long to notice?/should've been pulled after 3rd goal.....I fast forwarded most of game when it became 4-2 Isles at that point were done...Is Grabo that important to team??? They look lost w/o him....enough w/ these experiments w/ Clutterbuck,Conacher,Mcdonald they are all bottom 6 forwards that should have very limited roles if any....Lee deserves his shot now ready or not ....Cappy still leaves a lot to be desired...Do I hear Babcock chants????.......Is the Nov swoon starting earlier this year?....JT/KO must step up their games.....Is Halak just off a bit right now or is he really that bad on blocker side?

@bubbamac19

He doesn't fit.  We all tried to find the silver lining, BUT in the end, it's just another one of Cappy's bad decisions.  He will always give spots to hard working journey men over more talented young players.  Nelson playing on the 1st line with JT seems to be the only exception and that seemed to work out great.

@fourcups Tomas Vanek. That's why. He turned down 7m per for 7 years from the Isles and din't see that offer from them or anyone else after the season.Ilses are far better positioned now in a competitive sense and he, I believe, would strongly consider staying for big $. He fills a big role on this team and that is attractive too.

@NotoriousPING did he say that before or after last night's fiasco?  Winning solves everything and I'm sure he was having fun at 4-0 as he appears to be enjoying his role here.  And even if he is willing to sign midi-season, are the Isles going to give him the big bucks he will demand?

@redly I was there last night essentially the same as the Rangers game just in reverse.  Halak looked awful.
 --- First goal was a crazy bounce off that dasher, I have always wondered why the Islanders would make themselves defend that end twice?

@John Falcone  Next coach is Weight or Cronin. Wang will never pay a top coach. If he does it's because of new owners.

If they collapse again in November & Snow/Wang do nothing, I wonder what the new owners will do. They have no say but they could get on Wang's case, something that has never happened before.

If they do, whatever relationship they have with Wang is DONE. Disgaree with Charley & you are dead to him before you finish your sentence. Chuckie would have had fun in jail.

@bubbamac- excellent point.

People forget hockey players get hurt, all the time.. You sign now and take less, or take the risk and sign later for potentially more..

@Jayson Love I never understood why they can't FIX that corner?  Is it just me or is it ridiculous to think that a electric sander or hammer and chisel couldn't help recess that corner of the board that "sticks" out a little too much.  How long has it been that we have watched crazy bounces off of that end board.  Geez... they built the Empire State Building in 1932 in 11 months.
