The champions came calling, but it was no use.
Despite a strong push from the Miami Heat, free-agent guard Toure’ Murray has accepted an invitation to participate in New York Knicks training, according to media reports.
The Knicks were impressed with Murray’s strong summer league performance in which he proved to be a strong defender. According to reports, coach Mike Woodson said Murray and big man Jeremy Tyler were his two favorite players from the summer league squad.
At camp, he could compete to be the Knicks’ third point guard behind Raymond Felton and newly signed Beno Udrih.
With only 14 contracts on their books, one shy of the league maximum, the team has one roster spot available for the regular season.
