Shumpert shines in new movie promo

On the court, Iman Shumpert may be the Knicks guard, but on the silver screen he’ll be a bodyguard. Shumpert recently tried his hand at acting, and it turned out better than expected.

Shumpert has dabbled in the music business as a rapper, but this time he turned out a a pro prankster as part of a promotion for “The November Man” which was released in theaters on Wednesday (Post, August 28).

Don’t believe it? Watch Shumpert’s debut.

The real problem for Iman Shumpert is finding a position to play. He surely has talent and athletic ability, but is he is a point guard? No. Is he a shooting guard?, No. Is he a small forward? No. So where does he play and when. That is the question for Coach Fisher.

Nice try.

Because 'Punked' has done it, at such an epic f'n level, it's hard to be impressed with a mere prank these days. I did snicker at Shump snapping dudes' photo. That was funny.

seriously tho what do you guys think Shumps cieling is? I think if he continues to put in work he can be a Grant Hill type player....

maybe if he worked on his game as much as films and music he would reach his full potential

Iman Shumpert has been a starting forward for the New York Knicks for the better part of the past two seasons. And he was unrecognized or unrecognizable to the point where he could be a lead feature for a prank. Glad to know he's down to earth but He should be a little offended. Hopefully he cuts down on the crap a little and gets a bit more serious about his craft.

@Knicks_Fanatic to me he a SG...that is capable to D up (pause) the other teams best perimeter player weather he a PG or SF

@OLDKNICK3 By the end Chandler was despondent. He was no longer capable of locker room cohesion, good team chemistry, communication  or stopping old ladies in the lane. He'd probably tell you it was time for he and The Knicks to part and it was.

@OLDKNICK3 cuban can have him and his inflated contract...good riddens

@jtru001 No. Not another Shumpert's potential/projection question. :-)

@jojo218 Maybe you should subscribe to his YouTube page and FB fan page. Also, go back to videos of him prior to his rookie season. Shump was in the Gym on vacation. The guy is a Gym rat.

@RivDim He wasn't unrecognized when he was out hurt and our perimeter defense suffered. People were begging for Shump to come back. People have selective memory.

@OLDKNICK3 @Knicks_Fanatic Yes! Remember last Summer, when we would debate with others who though he should play PG? I've always believed SG was his best position as well. Shump does need to improve his shooting and handle without a doubt.

@BiggieTKB @Knicks_Fanatic

I agree that basketball is becoming less positional. Shump however, on the offensive side, doesn't have a skill that is above average. His passing, shooting, and handle are all subpar. Personally, I think he needs to be in an uptempo system, where he can run the floor and use his athleticism.

@NoVaCaInE @jojo218 I like bumpert but and i cant speak to him being a gym rat or no but i do know that he cant rap lol..hope he can be more consistant on offense this year.

@Nov

I know he's the best thing smoking the Knicks have as a defender on this roster period. He's great at it. This isn't about what he is or isn't. It's what he could be that's frustrating. Not expecting him to make an Allstar team. A little more work on his ball handling would go a long way. I would love to see Shumpert come into camp as the undisputed hands down lock to start at SG for the Knicks he has at least that potential I think.

@Biggie Valid point that I did take into consideration. Still It would have offended me to be asked to participate if I were a starter for the New York Knicks.

@Knicks_Fanatic @BiggieTKB On a team like OKC, LAC or Cleveland with LeBron, Shump would definitely thrive. He'd be able to play freely. However, I still think he needs to develop a skill on the offensive side of the ball. The teams that win are the ones that have a System. If Ariza and Wilson Chandler can develop an offensive game, I think Shump can too.

It's where ever the coach play them. Fisher will not have a hard time w/ that.

His music is horrible... Trinidad James is better, if that's possible

@RivDim

Shump was recovering from ACL surgery during the summer of 2012 and had another knee surgery and a shoulder injury in the summer of 2013. That's had more to do with his lack of progress than making a movie promo.

@RivDim Fair post and I agree. My main beef is people are quick to hop on Shump's negatives and ignore others. All Summer I've been having to defend him.

From what I know, Wilson Chandler always had offensive game since his days at DePaul

@BiggieTKB @jtru001 @Knicks_Fanatic nah b...im tired of all these "combo" guards and tweener forwards...give me a traditional rotation a la Spurs anyday than a team full of combo players

@ Nov Yeah he is scapegoated often. He's an important piece with potential. I've given up on JR cause I'm convinced he needs a shrink. The Knicks would be so much better if Iman were to take things just a little more seriously I think. With his defensive prowess it would go a long way to have him as a lock in the starting unit with no reservations.

jtru001

@NoVaCaInE @RivDim agreed Shump can become a legit SG in this game for a long time under the right coach...woodson about destroyed him tho

RivDim

@Still I hear you and maybe I am making too much of nothing. But it sometimes feels like Iman is too concerned with having fun or other non basketball entertainment stuff. I believe he's going on 25 (I could be wrong). I'd be pissed if I was going on my 4th year as a knickerbocker and asked to be a lead feature for a prank.

NoVaCaInE
NoVaCaInE

@jtru001 @NoVaCaInE @jojo218 It's crazy. D'Antoni and Woodson experimented with him. He's been in and out of the starting 5. Playing 1-3. Dealing with injuries and lack of confidence in his knee. Trade rumors galore. In and out of the dog house. Yet Shump was supposed to be a star last year, based on how he played in the Playoffs the year before.

Shump will be learning from yet another new coach. 3 in what will be his 4th year. How is anyone supposed to develop under these circumstances?

jtru001

@BiggieTKB @Knicks_Fanatic @RivDim it was woodson tho how can it not be?

Plus this will be his 3rd offensive system as well. You have to have consistency in an organization in order to maximize your roster.

@still I wouldn't give two flying monkeys if there were 856 days in a year. If I'm a starter on the lakers or knicks id hope to stand out to the point where I wasn't asked to participate on the pranking side of a prank. I would hope to be the one being pranked. But that's just me. Iman is a good kid and great defender. He could be a little more and it would go a long way for him. That's all.
