Tim Hardaway Jr. throws out first pitch at Mets Game

Keith Schlosser, Lead Writer

The throw was probably a little too high and outside for Terry Collins’ tastes, but as Tim Hardaway Jr. put it on Instagram, “Thank the Lord I didn’t pull a @50cent.”

The Knicks’ guard threw out the first pitch at the Mets game Monday and spoke to youngsters from New York City’s YMCA as part of the Citi Kids Program. Take a look below to see his baseball skills.

Great throwing out the first pitch at the Mets game today. Thank the Lord I didn't pull a @50cent

If the Knicks don't get Greg Monroe (which they probably won't), I think the Knicks should make a trade for David Lee. Good passing big who can rebound and do the dirty work.

Some info on Jason Smith:

SD: The last four seasons, Smith has taken a majority of his shots from 16 feet to the 3-point line (according to Basketball Reference) and hit them at a solid clip (46% over 4 years). Are the pick-and-pop and mid-range jumper his bread and butter, or was that just his role within the Hornets/Pelicans' offense?

R: The mid-range jumper probably is Smith's only plus NBA-level offensive skill. It obviously wouldn't be a great idea to have it be a go-to play, but it's a great option late in the shot clock and on broken possessions. Smith has good hands on the pick and pop as well, which somewhat mitigates the fact that he absolutely can't put it back down on the floor again if he's closed out effectively. I wouldn't at all be surprised if he could add a similar, related play to his arsenal -- something like a quick back down and fadeaway against smaller defenders -- but his lack of dribbling ability probably curtails any significant potential for offensive growth here.

SD: Additionally, he doesn't do a lot of scoring around the rim. Obviously, the low post is part of the Triangle offense. Do you believe Smith can function down there or will he struggle if he's not utilizing his jumper?

R: He's not the strongest player with his back to the basket, so I'm not sure he'd be a great fit for the central pivot of the triangle obviously. I do think that with his floor stretching ability though, he could play the role of the weak-side forward depending on exactly how Derek Fisher and Phil Jackson are planning on deploying it with this incarnation of the Knicks.

Spurs have named retiring WNBA star Becky Hammon as assistant coach, will be first ever woman assistant in NBA.

That USA team seems awfully soft up front, especially if they cut Cousins.

When LBJ said he was doin a "no carb" diet..he meant no "HGH"..LOL.

Just kiddin'...no carb/low carb diets are great for the body, I eat paleo 90% of the time..glad to see athletes flip the so-called "diets" on their heads.

@KnowLedge  They already had a "former" male...now as a "woman"...fight in a  MMA fight...a man beating on woman...forgot the state that approved that one...I think FL.

@Dhaman. Definitely looks like he ran out of HGH.. Probably due to rumors of testing all sports players for HGH.. Had he quit sooner, he may still have his hair.. Also, look at his jaw.. Definitely makes one wonder

People would be surprised how quickly they lose weight once they stop eating carbs. Also, the body feels great.

@MeloStat301 @SheSaidSpikeWho I think I know who you're talking about. I do know that Becky Hammon has been working with Pop for a long time and has been heavily involved with the Spurs during the offseason just learning and providing input when asked. Tim Duncan raved about her so this didn't surprise me so much. If ever, she will likely be the first woman head coach. I thought it would be me but *shrug* lol.

@phenomenal @MeloStat301 Do yourself a favor when you start and do something like the 4 hour body diet where you're paleo six days a week and have a seventh day where you can eat what you want.

It makes the transition much, much easier.

MeloStat301
MeloStat301

@phenomenal @MeloStat301  At first it is...I wouldn't recommend cold turkey...I'd say start off limiting yourself to 50 carbs per day, net carbs.  Get some low-carb wraps, or even some Ezekiel bread...Ezekiel bread toasted with almond butter is great.  Don't be afraid to mix it up....you will be surprised at the combos you come up with that taste good.

@SheSaidSpikeWho  Absolutely...also..working out on an empty stomach does wonders to the body in terms of fat loss.

Veggies are important. Experiment cooking your vegetables in different ways with your meals. Adjusting is not as hard as it sounds.
