What We Witnessed vs. The Celtics

In what was a very spirited preseason battle, the Knicks scratched out an overtime victory over the Celtics in Harford last night. Here are the results of what we were looking for heading into the game.
Defensive communication- A little better but still not where it should be at this point. In the third quarter the Knicks struggled on close outs allowing for the Celts first unit to get a double digit lead. Outstanding job as a team on the glass, specifically from Steve Novak and Raymond Felton. Jason Kidd’s defense and ability to make the little plays continues to be impressive.
Tyson Chandler’s Offense- Felton got Chandler involved on a few lobs and Chandler was much more active in the paint finishing with 16 points on just 8 field goal attempts. He’s a difference maker against the Celtics and is critical to their success vs the C’s this year.
Point Guard Pressure- I thought the Knicks did a solid job against Rondo and forcing him to work for great plays and easy assists. The Celtics lack of a true back up point guard may prove costly, but you have to assume that Rondo will play close to 40 minutes every single night.
All in all I thought minus Stoudemire, Camby, Brewer and J.R. Smith, the Knicks had a pretty good showing.
