What’s on Tap: Standings, Reports, Next Match Up

The Nets and Sixers both won. The Celtics, Knicks and Raptors had the night off.

The Knicks are now 6.5 games back of the division leading Raptors.

Catching Up On Yesterday

 The real issue this year might be the mental state of the team. See why here.

With the Blake Griffin for Carmelo Anthony rumors gaining a little steam, we break down the trade and tell you why it makes zero sense for the Knicks.

Finally, Harris thinks Beno Udrih is more to blame for the loss to the Rockets than J.R. Smith.

The Knicks take on the Dallas Mavericks tonight at 7:30pm from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, TX.

So let me get this straight with all the Udrih/JR blame shifts going on. Udrih is expected to make a judgement call on the intelligence (or lack thereof) of the player he will pass the ball to during the final possession? How about Coach puts players on the court who have half a brain instead of blaming his 3-string PG who is barely NBA material to begin with?

TKB is clearly in on the JR conspiracy.  How else can we make sense of JR being the 2-time defending TKB Player of the Week?

So let's say it is late in the game and Beno has the ball. He runs through his options;

1) Don't pass the ball to JR, he will do something and I'll get blamed.

2) Don't pass the ball to Bargnani, he will do something stupid and I'll get blamed .

3) Don't pass the ball to Chandler, he doesn't want it.

4) What the eff am I doing out here?

Melo himself is calling the trade rumors "silly and stupid"; and that he and Chris Paul had "a good laugh" about them.

Different tune than he was saying during his final season in Denver when the trade rumors were constant.

Until there's something more substantive than Broussard citing an unnamed source regarding "internal discussions" (that could have been

between two secretaries for all we know), getting worked up about a Melo trade scenario would seem to be a waste of time at this point.

I thought the new commenting system would drive me away from this blog, but it's actually the articles. I haven't read anything remotely interesting on here for weeks and am heading to P&T. Take care gents.

Looking at those standings; aside from Philly they are completely upside-down from what I imagined before the season.

@tommy2b Maybe the TKB staff is afraid of being "Isola-ed."  Access to Garden functions rescinded. That keeps many reporters in line. Or maybe they are afraid that they are afraid they won't be invited to Dolan's Mazola-wrestling parties.

@Knicks_Fanatic  and then he will decide to dribble the ball into the paint himself, stumble, fall down and turn it over.

@OLD_KNICK That's the "coach" being an idiot and throwing the only PG he has left under the bus, again.

Horrible management of the situation.

@OLD_KNICK There is something really strange going on here. I believe there is some type of hang out buddies relationship going on here. JR knows something about Woody that Woody does not want out---perhaps like what he does on his off time---sniff sniff, cough cough. Woody's eyes are never clear. I'm just sayin. Great links.

@knickfan2 Just making some money.  If he would stick to modeling and lay off the drugs I would be very happy.

@knickfan2 I loved the comment by one of his followers: "How about you go practice looking at the score".  LOL

@Sandro Guedes We are trading Melo for an even older player that Chi town has tried unsuccessfully tp unload for the past 2 years, and a bunch of junk. This will certainly keep us where we currently are last in the worst division in the history of this league. The changes must happen top down, Dolan must hire a President and GM that know their stuff, they must in turn get a coach that can coach, then, and only then can people start to talk about improving the whole situation of the team

@BiggieSmalls No what Brown is saying is this guy is a KA and will do anything he can to save his efing job, including throwing his team under the bus for his mistakes . Brown got used by Zeke and Starburry, and Dolan finished him off. If you were actually a fan at that time you should remember that Brown publicly stated he couldn`t believe what was going on. I think he tried to be honest with the press and got fired. Fortunately, he made Dolazz pay him most of his contract

@BiggieSmalls For Dolan, a good relationship means having healthy drones who act upon his command. Woodson does this to keep his job.

How this is reflected on a coach's approach to the game or results? I see no correlation.

Woodson's all over Dolan's jock to remain employed after yje horrible he's done with this team.

I can think of no other employer, on any industry, that would put up with with Woodson's horrific performance.

Loyalty is not the major problem. Dolan gets ished on so much because of his extreme belief in loyalty. But that is just too easy to target. Hey, what head of an organization would not want loyalty. The answer in my opinion is more of incompetency. It"s the lack of basketball knowledge starting from the top. So what do we wind up with? - a bunch of incompetent loyal people.

But how do we measure the success of a basketball organization. Is it championships? If so, then the problems have existed for more than 40 years and before Dolan. If you measure it in dollars and cents, then Dolan has done well.

It's simple to me. Dolan has no knowledge of the game and wants to surround himself with loyal people and keep filling the seats. The only chance we have is that he stumbles upon a loyal group of people that actually know something about building a championship team.

@BiggieSmalls

The relationship between the owner and coach has no effect on the team's performance.Dolan and Woody have been through 54-28 and now 10-22. We need to get a basketball man in charge of running the team, not CAA, Dolan and Steve Mills. Woody isn't a HOF coach and likely will never win a chip in NY. That's not because he isn't capable of coaching a championship team. It's because Dolan isn't capable of putting one together.

As long as Dolan calls the shots, guys like Riley, Buford, and Bird will not have to worry about the Knicks in the post season.

@BiggieSmalls

1) Good relationship b/w coach and owner => success

2) Woodson has good relationship with Dolan

3) Knicks having disastrous season

One of those three must be false.  3 is objectively true, so...

And we wondered why it was all ISO Melo at crunch time.

I wonder no more!

@OLD_KNICK @Sandro Guedes Get a coach and a pg, and close down all this BS. ESPN and Bleacher report know as much about Hoops as my Dog

@OLD_KNICK Old news then.  Of course woody's tight with Dolan.  How else can you remain employed leading a team the owner 'expects to contend for a championship' to a 10-22 record?

@Knicks_Fanatic If Dolan is a warm-up act for CAA bands, then he is a CAA client. Who is running what?

fasheezee

@moneyball @Kojo Brown @OLD_KNICK  Whatever man. I think there's something too weird about JR/W's shizz. It's either drvgs, women, man/boy action, or simply the CAA brotherhood. I know a lot wimps on here are gonna  say "Oh yeah, that's it, CAA."

tommy2b
tommy2b

@OLD_KNICK Yeah.  Might as well demand that Bargnani start playing defense and rebounding or JR to lay off the substances.  It just ain't happening.

@Mr.Boots@Knicks_Fanatic

It is said that Robert Johnson sold his soul to the devil to be able to play blues on the guitar.

Dolan just had to take CAA clients, JR and Bargnani,  to open for the Eagles.
