According to Jared Zwerling of ESPN New York, Mike Woodson said that Marcus Camby is getting close to making his return. Camby has missed the past month battling plantar fasciitis, an ailment that sounds not only painful, but vaguely kind of gross, though I don’t think it is.
After Tuesday’s practice, Mike Woodson hinted that backup center Marcus Camby is nearing a return soon.
“Camby’s getting close,” the coach said. “He scrimmaged a little today.”
However, he wouldn’t make any guarantees that Camby would play on Friday against the Wizards.
Obviously, this would be welcome news. The Knicks have yet to get a chance to see what Kenyon Martin can give them, but assuming the answer to that is not all that much, I’m sure they’d love to be able to get Camby back in the mix as soon as possible to get him ready for the playoffs. It’s sort of worth remembering that though he’s been injured pretty much most of the year, and didn’t look all that great even when he was healthy, Camby really did play well just last season and he could potentially still give them a legitimate boost as they head down the stretch.
Even as that sort of sounds hard to believe, as much of a non-factor as he’s been this year, getting him back could still be important.
